Does anyone have an up-to-date idea of what the pound is worth against the lira, as it seems here in GB the rate is not that good at around 2.65 to the pound, do you get that much more in Turkey.
Cheers guys and guyetts.
Have been many times but never take duty free as i have never known how much i can take.
Many Thanks
i not sure but i take 2 litres of jack daniels 2 litres of gin and 2 litres of barcadi and have never had a problem this is between two of us i take it for a friend who runs a small motel for his bar
You can buy your duty free on arrival in Turkey - and as much as you want too.
I think from last time you can get 2 litres of Vodka for £15 wich i thought was really good.
turkish customs can be really strict with duty free ,and everthing is scanned as you go into the airport , i have seen plenty people being stopped and all there contraband confiscated ,its just not worth the risk.
Sorry meant to say was £15 in Glasgow duty free
Lally
went over to kos last september, and picked up a copy of bodrum express magazine, duty frees into turkey is,cigarettes 3cartons, alcohol 2 litres, perfume 5bottles, tobacco 1 packet ,hope this helps everyone who have queried this.
Can anyone confirm that the duty free shop near the exit at Dalaman still operating? Also, if you used it what is your allowance there?
not a smoker myself but seem to remember its either not both, 8x50g tobacco like GV or drum. 4x cartons of cigarrettes both in and out of country.
two bottles of spirits in and out
Priced in euros then converted to your own currency
pay in cash or debit/credit card
Ian
yes it still is operating, but im sure you can buy what you want ,after all you have cleared customs and are on youre way out into their country, though its much cheaper to buy it the uk side with the offers they have 2 for£16 ect,but then you can have 10 litres each person ,cigs are 200 per person i think
You can no longer buy as much as you want, passport is scanned and you are only allowed allowance as Goan mad states
On arrival to Dalaman your allowed to take in 3 Cartons of Cigs + 150 grams of Tobaco, 2 bottles of spirits your passport is scanned also. On departing your allowed 9 Cartons of Cigs again your Passport is scanned so you cannot take more on the one Passport.
No matter what they sell at the airport as Turkey in not in the EU you are limited to only 200 Cigarettes back to the UK tax exempt. One bottle of spirits.
Exactly right colinj
Bluepeterno1, Not many people adhere to Uk customs, Myself being one of them, With prices so high here it's worth the risk really, I only speak for myself with regards to this but would like to know if others take the same chance as I always do.
I have seen plenty people stopped in turkey and the uk , All depends the way you look at it , i dont think it is worth the risk ,one time i arrived at glasgow about 4.30 in the morning and a guy was stopped at customs witha half case load of cigs, the guyn was marched away to be strip searched , while his wife and child were left crying there eyes out ,nothing is worth that.Spoils the holiday
Well Peter it's like this you pay the price if caught, I was stopped in April at Gatwick, Unfortunately for Uk customs I had nothing they could possibly seize, They were even looking at seizing 15 T-shirts as of course they were fake, I deliberately made them wait as long as I could to let others through the Customs area, lol.
