Butter - was okay. Funny how we worry about things like that with kids. Not salted butter, but reasonable on the toasted bread or on the pancakes. Certainly not yuck anyway!
Hope the 5 year old loves the activities as much as mine did (hardly saw the 5 and 6 year old during the day as they wanted to go to the Kids Club all the time. We had to say no occassionally just to have family time during the day!)
Titanic is certainly a very lovely hotel to stay at with lots to do. Enjoy!
thanks so much for all your help, can't think of any more questions so will spare you a thought as i'm relaxing by the pool not many more sleeps now better luck next year in booking a holiday if anything like us .....were going for one thats built next year bye for now
We have booked a standard family room for 2 adults and 2 kids. Does anyone know if the kids have twin beds or are they expected to share a sofa bed ( something my 2 boys aren't over keen on doing!) Cosmos were a little vague on the subject.
Also, What kind of imported drinks do they offer?
Thanks.
Emma
hi there, we are thinking of booking the titanic for next july, is all the evening entertainment in the ampitheatre? my kids love kids clubs, does anyone that has already been recommend them? what kind of things do they do? we have recently returned from the pegasos palace and the kids clubs were fab
Entertainment - we really enjoyed and yes it was in the amitheatre. get there early to get the cushions!
Kids club was great for the smaller ones, but they did not sign in or out so we had to make sure we were there to collect and knew where they were. That said we had no incidents.
With regards to the rooms as we had booked inter-connecting rooms (and got a free upgrade to the poolside VIP villas as the interconnecting rooms all gone!!!!) I can't say. Why not call the hotel direct as all the reception staff speak English - and at least will give you the correct answer!
We did not drink any imported drinks. The lager was excellent as was the white rum, the vodka, and the wine. Do not even recall seeing any of the big name brands there - probably under the counter!
To anyone thinking of booking I would throughly throughly recommend the Titanic. We had the best family holiday ever - both relaxing and totally so much to do!
Just can't wait until May. I read somewhere that men have to wear long trousers etc for the a la carte restaurants, is this true? That wouldn't be popular with my husband.
Emma
When we were there in May/June the men were all wearing long trousers in the a la carte (and not due to the weather!) but I cannot recall any 'rule' saying that they had to. That said my husband had a pair of cream 'chino' style trousers and others were wearing jeans, or more traditional smart trousers.
The a la cartes are very nice and like a 'normal' restaurant at home and therefore I suspect the apparent dress code. We were't there in the height of summer so I can't say if tailored shorts or smart shorts (or even long shorts) would be acceptable - sorry!
For normal restaurant anything goes - as long as wearing a shirt!
Hi Emma
Thanks for your replies. Think I will pack some some smartish trousers just in case......he will wear anything in return for a good meal! A friend of mine said she had a look around the titanic last year whilst visiting relatives in Antalya. She said it looks amazing. I have found some more good reviews on german web sites. They make interesting reading after the google translation! The 'hotel bewertungen' site gives detailed scores for all aspects of Lara beach hotels.
Oh I do love holidays.
Emma (the other one!.....my husband regerstered me with the very boring username of emma02 )
cheers sallington
I dont travel light at the best of times,so any items that are not needed means more for me..........
Hi Sallington ..just a thought to save you waiting for reviews........perhaps you could drop the hotel an email to clarify the 'trouser rules' ?
Hello everybody..hope you dont mind me asking this...as we have decided on titanic for next year is there anybody who has booked direct with hotel and booked flights separate?....thank you
We have booked through Cosmos as we are using our tesco vouchers. Flight times not too bad though.
On the trouser front!.........there is a new review on different site that complains about the dress code not being enforced, good news as far as we are concerned. Comfort wins over etiquette.
Does anyone know if hotels in Turkey are usually as busy during the May half term as they are in August? I wonder if the Germans and Russians have school holidays at this time (or maybe they don't have police patrolling their airports during term time!!)
We went to Titanic May half term. Week before May half term week the hotel was full - but there were only 5 British families when we were there! Lots and lots of beautiful Russian women (I felt so inferior!!!). That said there was lots of space and half-term week was actually slightly quieter (but more British families - hurrah for my kids!)
With regards the dinner enforcement the way I read the reviews is that the dress code not enforced in the general restaurant rather than the a la carte, but that's just my take on it and I'll happily stand corrected...
Dinner in the buffet restaurant we definatley did not need to have long trousers.
We are booking flights / hotel separately but only because I could not get a package deal with flights that suited us...if you read my earlier post you will see that Eclipse were offering a really good price if you can fit a free child place into your equation and don't mind night flights.
We booked flights from Manchester in the end that had good day time flight times with Direct Line Holidays (part of Mytravel)..we are waiting to book the accommodation as prices on the accommodation only sites are not available for a few more weeks yet in the main.
I am pretty confident, from past experience, that you would get a better price off the accommodation only sites (as long as you pick the right one !) than booking direct with the hotel -that said you should always check the hotel's price so you have a measure (also you never know they could have a deal on).
You generally can save a fair bit booking DIY if you have children and are booking outside of the main school holidays (or even if overlapping by a few days). But you should always explore the package option to be able to measure. I am aiming for the Eclipse price but doubt if I will beat it...but I'm willing to pay a little extra as we are only going for a week and would find the flight times they were offering just too disruptive on such a short holiday (1 week)....thus we will trade a little to gain flexibility/suitability.
If & when I find a good accommodation only provider for this hotel, for next year, I will post it on here for anyone interested.
Have received letter from first choice today stating that the a la carte restaurants now have to be paid for, but only 7 euro's? did anyone else get this.........................?
Just to let you know, phoned First choice today and next season the charge is 7.00 euro per head to dine in any of the a la caret restaurants. You may now dine in them as many times as you like as obviously you are now paying a small cover charge.
we went 5 * a/i in turkey this year and ive never heard of paying a small charge before, i know its not much but the holidays not cheap anyway......anything for a little extra cash wouldnt you say.
Not happy about this news. If it is 7 euros each for each visit, then 28 euros for a family of four will soon add up. Hardly all inclusive. We have booked through Cosmos and haven't heard from them regarding this. I will certainly try my hardest to get them to knock the difference off the price of the holiday. Seems only fair if they change the conditions after booking. I will keep you posted!
