Hi Elliebee. My partner has been enquiring about premier class with Thomsons for our holiday in November. It costs £225 per person. it doesnt guarantee you sitting together and you dont get choosing your own seats. for that privilage you pay an extra £22 per person. So thats £247 per person to upgrade. Its a bit of a con i think. The extra leg room is great, but thats about it. As Irishcolleen says, they arent very forthcoming at giving you FREE drinks you are entitled too.

Ok thanks ladies, we paid £75.0 each for extra leg room seats at time of booking anyway so I think ill just stick to that going by what your'e both saying. Its just that im not a very good traveller and thought the 'extras' would make our journey that much more comfy. I think ill put the money towards larger bling as Lin says 8) :D

Hi

We upgraded for our November 06 with first choice & have paid £147 pounds each, which we thought was very reasonable as not only do we gain the extras on the flight,we have 30kg each & priorty boarding. Two weeks ago we upgraded our first choice flights for March 07 & we paid a very surprising £119 pound each, two days later my sister-in-law tried to upgrade her seats & the cost for upgrade had risen to £240 per person.
So all in all, I think we have a good deal, unless anyone knows better. Its always nice to know that someone has got a bargain.

Cheers

We are going direct with Monarch :? in Feb. Is it really all that bad?

Have almost always flown Monarch, it's usually, but not always, the cheapest, it's OK not luxury travel but a means to an end, can be cramped depending on individuals size, I've nearly always found them punctual and the staff Ok but I know of others who have had issues with the cabin crew. last December I got upgrade to premium class for £99 return should have ben £299!!! Not worth £299 but a bargain at £99, loads of room, better food, real pottery, free drinks, individual video machines, I think I had my £99 worth of complementary drinks (well almost!) Also on the point of need for proof of accommodation for flight only passengers, on your flight details you do get a paper saying that you have dormhouse accommodation provided for the first night and this is in fact named, I would strongly advise that you have this paper to hand when checking in at the airport as they can at times be awkward over this!

I've looked at the BA site and can get a months ticket (Jan - Feb), Manchester to Mumbai (via Heathrow) for £385 :D Don't think that's too bad!! Has anyone flown with BA and are they any good?

Of all the main scheduled carriers B.A. is in my opinion by far the worst I would class them as the "monarch" of the big sheduled carriers. for example they give you a cramped 31" leg room, compare that with the 34" the charter company First Choice give you I would only fly B.A. as a last resort if they were the only one flying the route or if they offered a rock bottom price, neither of these normally happen. My son flew B.A. business class from Oz last week and it was the worst flight in that class he has ever had, the last straw being the last leg from London City to Edinburgh, B. A. charged him an extra £15 for putting his normal walk on case in the hold as required by the new regulations and he only had one piece of normal hold luggage beside it. So I,m afraid that this is one person that wont be flying the flag with the worlds favourite airline Alan

Hi Gramps
I couldnt agree more and BA will not underany circumstances let you alter your flight so many people just lose their money as we did last season when we couldnt come home

I flew with BA Mumbai / Manchester and thought it was the best flight I've ever had. In my oinion they beat Emirates, Thai Air, Singapore Airlines and Quantas to name a few.
The staff were really attentive, loads of room and the food was quite good, beats Air India any day!!!

I,m surprised at the last post re B.A. As I said previously their leg room is 3" less than the other carriers mentioned and as recently as last week the 747s in their fleets entertainment package were not interactive, as is the likes of Emerates, so you cannot view the films as and when you want with B.A.s outdated systems As for the leg room and seat dimentions on the Boeing777s on the mexican route they are as bad as anything Ive experienced anywhere So unless you are short rather than tall I'd give B.A. a wide berth Alan

I actually enjoyed the flight with BA - but then I'm not one to complain and think you get what you pay for. The plane was a brand new 777 and I didn't encounter any problems (maybe that's all to come on my return leg to Mumbai)??? I'll let you know!!
Emirates have been a long favourite of mine, I've used them to travel to several places over the years but find that the Dubai - Mumbai leg suffers from bad service (the way they treat the indian customers is quite horrible), also the planes were old, tired and dirty, in saying that I'd still use them again, just happened that BA was much cheaper. As I said I'm not one to complain after all there are worse ways to travel and the BA flight is direct - no stop offs in the UAE which is a bonus as far as i'm concerned.
I'd say if you get a bargain price it's worth taking a gamble.

Just a gentle reminder here that flight queries specific to Goa can be posted here. For general queries please use the flights forum( the members there won't bite! ). As this thread is so long now I will copy the opening post again below

have taken this thread back by popular demand. Please note that this thread is for SPECIFIC questions re flights to and from Goa. It is not here to replace the flights/airlines and airports forum. If you have general questions about the aircraft, inflight info, companies or UK airports, please post them there Any questions posted on this thread that are not Goa specific will be moved to the Flights forum.I will not leave a link here as it is often useless as posts get merged.
If this causes too many problems or complaints I may have to reconsider. (Please note that other forums do not allow flight questions.) I have an evergrowing list of forums to mod and I don't want to mod a mini flights forum as well!!
Please also note that any flights questions posted outwith this thread will be moved to here.
Lecture over! I hope you find this thread a useful additon to our forum.

Hallohaa,

Anyone tell me if I will make it in time ?

When I get back rom my holiday....(just planning ahead unfort ... :( )

My Flight from Goa touches down on the tarmac at Manchester Int'l Airport at 6:30pm, I have to then catch a flight from Man to Southampton - the flight leaves at 8:20pm...anyone have a rough guess if I will make it to check in for the Southampton flight within 50 minutes ?

(NB: Thats if all goes to plan, and the Goa to Man, UK flight is on time!)

Anyone done the same ? :?
