I'm very worried about this. The last thing I want is for my 2 yr old to get ill.

We are going on 7th Oct and I guess it is too short notice to change location.

I only hope all this bad publicity makes FC sit up and take notice and do something about it.

I went to the doctors today for a progress chat, I shown them the report and they said all the illnesses are down to poor hygene and standards, probably in the kitchen area. Now, if FC sent an independant environment officer, how difficult was it for them to let the hotel know to expect a visit thus improving standards during the visit?

Still don't be put of going, it is a lovely place. I understand the concerns, especially after that report I attached a link to but as long as you avoid problem foods, it will be fine. They have a good selection of different foods so I am sure you could miss out on poultry foods for your visit and hopefully, the place will improve standards by the time you get there.

What I am annoyed about is the care from FC when I informed them of my illness. As said the Irish rep was not interested and was adament it had nothing to do with the hotel, nothing reported all year and the rest of the defensive garbage that came of his mouth. He did say htey would check up on me and they didn't!

mcfester, i knew you were ill while you were away and when you first came home, i can't believe that you still aren't back to 100%. I hope that as time goes by you will be able to remember the good points of the holiday as well as being so ill, but it must be overpowering your memories for now. it's such a shame, i seem to think that, like us, you had booked your holiday quite early and had been looking forward to it for a long time. hopefully next time you go away you will stay healthy.

Thanks Viv, with all the trouble we had with the Kos ABC, we thought we had a good deal here. Then we had passport trouble, then chicken pox! I reckon someone was telling us to leave it a couple of weeks! Still, we know for next time!

Anyone any good places to go for next year? Family of 5 half board or AI. Slightly off topic but thought as we all chose PP, we all have similar tastes on what we want out of a holiday!

we had three kids with us 11,8,5 years old and they loved it,the only fault would be it is not very buggy freindly,no lifts and a few stairs, otherwise the beach, pools, kids club were brilliant.

FC informed us our tickets for the 7th Oct were ready for picking up.
My wife voiced her concerns and mentioned the facts on this forum, the telegraph article and holiday watch report. They said they would look into it and phone back. They phoned back and said that nothing was on file and no problems had been reported to them.

We are going to go ahead and go to the PP as there are far more positives. However if my little un gets ill and I find out it is down to low HSE standards. I'll kick it off big style with FC.

See you from 7th Oct onwards.

Hi mw vickers,

I hope you have a great holiday. I am still awaiting an e-mail from FC since 2 days ago to see whether they will abolish the £20p/head chg to change destination!!!!! I am a bit wary of taking the kids there now as they are so young!!! :)

Anyway let us know how you get on and I hope you enjoy.
 Take care,

Nia

hi, went to PP Aug 05 as the flight home was at 2pm we left the resort approx 11am. I'm looking to go back next year but the flight home is approx 1am  , I can book a late check out until 6pm, but was wondering at what time do you normally have to vacate your room and has anyone held onto there room even though a late check out was not booked. Hope that makes sense !!!

ive just read a few posts and im not surprised that a lot of people were ill. we were there the same time as mcfester and we had the holiday from hell. our son ended up at the doctor with not 1 ear infection but 2. the doctor said it was due to being run down as he hadn,t eaten for a few days due to the food in the tropical being so poor. i took my complaint to the rep and she was brill at dealing with me. she had to speak to iberostar food manager and get back to me wasn,t able to speak to her before we left as it was her day off but spoke to the lad i think to collect a copy of the complaint and he dissmissed us and said that there wasn,t any other complaints. i then spoke to about a dozen other families who had the same problems and first choice are not interested. since retutning home i have been quite unwell, at first i thought i had an abscess in my mouth and it turned out to be mumps. doctor has said that i definateley picked this up on hols as there is an incubation period before the swelling. doctor said that mumps are viral and get passed on through cups and cutlery that aren,t washed properly as it is carried in saliva. don,t know how many times i had to get clean cutlery and glasses in the restaraunt. so im not a happy woman. because i have been unwell i haven,t managed to finish my letter to first choice yet but they know its coming as the girl in the shop heard me when i got back. p.s have you read the review about the boy who ended up with e-coli, its in the tropical reviews. that family were there the week after we arrived.

Unbelievable state of affairs littlemisshoney! Was the lad Irish? He sounds like the same bloke with the dismissive attitude I had! Typical of the doctors! I actually found them quite helpful and did look after me but then I was paying them!

Traceytreacle, you do get kicked out of the room by 6 but as I was so ill, we asked for the room until the coach picked up at 3am in the morning. They gave us the room for £15 and it was the best thing we could have done as we all managed to get a sleep.

Hi

We booked the late check room until 6pm when we booked the holiday. Our flight departed at 00.50 and we got picked up at 22.00 but when we got there it was only another £10 to have the room until 20.00 this enabled us to have a full day round the pool and then have a bath etc and get ready for leaving. The keyfob stops working 12.00 and you have to go to the reception to get it extended. I felt it was well worth the extra £10 and would do it again.
We won't be going back to the palace as we have been for two years on the trot and a fantastic time whilst there.
Hope you all have as much fun as we did whilst there.
