Hi christine 06,thats not a problem will let you know how i get on. This is my first time to Tunisia and will be the first time at Kanta Hotel. There are 2 other members on the forum that has been to The Kanta Hotel and hope they don't mind me saying who they are, both of which enjoyed themselves. la lorientaise and mumtastic. Go into the hotel reviews for Kanta Hotel thats what i done and it really put my mind at ease hope that helps. Anymore questions ask away and if i can help i will. Haddy
thanks haddy im really looking forward to this holiday as the kanta has had quite a few good reports i hope they continue next year one quetion i have is have u heard any mention about flys as someone has said theres alot of flys over there thanks
I've been to Hotel Kanta loads of times and have loved every minute of it! you folks that have booked are very lucky!! wish I was going back!
I stayed at the Kanta in August, their was alot of flys if you ate at the pool snack bar. But it was very hot and you will always find flys where theres food where ever you are in the world. The food is freshly prepared so there isn't any food just left around for them to land on and everything is cleared away as soon as your finished. Don't worry just enjoy your time there, don't let the flys put you off.
mumtastic
thanks for the reply mumtastic that reall has put my mind to rest and im gonna just go and enjoy.one question is there ant internet services in the hotel as my daughter keeps bugging me to find out.also what is the beach like and do u have to pay for the beds sorry to be a pest all info on the kanta is much appreciated christine
As for the internet in the Kanta there is one computer and you pay 10 dinar for about half an hour (sorry can t remember exact prices) It worked but it wasn't as fast at home. But it ll do just for checking e mails. And Haddy3 its fine to mention my name I don t mind answering questions as I had more than enough of them my self before I went to Tunisia
happy holidays You ll have a great time!!
Hi christine 06, la lorientaise is right there is internet access but we never used it so i can't comment. As for the sun beds no you don't have to pay for them round the pool or at the beach but we used give the guy 1 dinar for getting us the matress. The beach is lovely and even in august there were always plenty of beds available no matter what time of day you go. It is quite a walk but the hotel provides a tuk tuk service from reception direct to the beach, about every 5 to 10 minutes or so. no charge but again we used to give the driver a dinar tip each trip well worth it as it was far too hot to walk with beach towels sun lotion etc. Any other questions just ask.
thanks mumtastic i really appreciate all info the internet is for my daughter as she likes to go on line to her mates.glad the beach is fab cant wait .whats the sea like cold or warm? How much is 1 dinar thanks christine
christine hi... from what ive heard and read flies are not anymore of a problem than what they are in Spain etc. Regarding the dinar i will research and let you know.
Hi to la lorientaise and mumtastic... have either of you any plans to return to Tunisia? Hope you didn't mind me passing your names on the forum!!!
christine regarding the dinar at the minute... 1 British Pound = 2.53272 Tunisian Dinar, 1 Tunisian Dinar (TND) = 0.39483 British Pound (GBP). Hope this info helps
This was our 2nd time in PEK, first time was 5 years ago. We don't usually go to the same place twice and it definately won't be the last time however we like to go tp other places too so it maybe another 5 years before we go back but i can say it will be back to the port and the Kanta as it's a great location. If you decide to do any of the trips the 2 day safari is a definate must. we always do a couple of trips where ever we go and that has to be the most unforgetable one yet.
PEK is great for a first voyage to Tunisia! I would definately stay at the Kanta again though I d love it if the Kanta or Marhaba palace were in Sousse. But I d probably have to take a gamble on hotels when I go back there.
But in any case Sousse is only 20 minutes away by Tuk tuk from PEK. So you get the best of both worlds there really!
Just booked for the Hotel Kanta after reading the reviews. Coudnt see anywhere on the brochure description if there was Air Con in the rooms or the hotel as a whole?
Thanks
Jilly
Don t worry! There is air conditioning in the hotel. We found it to be very good and the room was just right when we would come back from a night out.
Hi jilly glad to hear someone else has booked for the hotel kanta we are going next august for 2 weeks when are you going im really looking forward to it as the reveiws have been quite promosing
Hi Christine, am going 30June 2007 or two weeks, a long way off, but can't wait. First time in Tunisia, and as usual, have found HT invaluable for hints tips and advice. Holidays are an expensive thing and its best to go forewarned!
Have been reading some of the reviews and have mixed feelings on this hotel, but then like it's been said before everyone is different.
Thanks
Have a look at the map below - The Kanta is not far from the actual port. - Sorry I can't do nice neat little links
