I have been offered a cheap(ish) upgrade to a deck 6 outside cabin.Currently on 2/3 outside.
What benefits are there of the higher cabins? Are they furnished nicer?

From what we saw this summer the cabins were all the same. Our outside twin on deck 5 had L shaped beds, the deck below was identical. Only advantage of being higher up is (possibly) better view when in port, and fewer stairs to climb to get to restaurants and bars.

We have just returned home from the Destiny and it was brilliant :D !!!
Already can't wait to go back! We had no problem with the toilets or sea sickness but did take tablets with us but didn't need them. We didn't see the guest comedian but think his name was Graham Powell (somebody please correct me if I am wrong!). Dress code for the restaurant during the day was casual but most people dressed smartly for the evening meal. The daily cruise news advises you on the dress code for the evening. Hope this helps :D

Thanks Murphymo
Glad you had a great time and its nice to know that all the problems are sorted out before we go (hope it stays that way  )

I have my clothes sorted for the evening meal. which does bring me to a question. What is the times of the seatings please? We opted for the late seating on the spirit (cant for the life of me remember what time it was though  ) We are thinking of going for the early seating this time so we dont miss the game show type stuff later on in the night. What seating did you decided on :?:

Thanks again

Hi everyone I have just posted my review and I hope everyone finds it useful!
Kerrie we were on the second sitting and it was the best sitting for us. It was possible to get seats for the quizzes etc after but not if you are a smoker as those tables go early! Any questions feel free to ask!

Sorry Kerrie forgot to say first sitting was at 18.45 and second sitting was at 20.45.

Thanks murphymo
Think we will try the first seating as i am a smoker (thanks for that tip :tup )
I am off to read your review now. Only 5 more sleeps to go :hyper :hyper :hyper

Hi murphymo
Only me again. It was so nice to hear that you really enjoyed your cruise and to hear something positive (cant wait to go now) Pity about your delay with the plane buisness (that would drive me insane) I have never done a four hour flight (only a two).
I do have some more questions though. What night was the captains night :?: Hope its early in the week as i want to be able to still fit in my dress when it comes around  Also it states in the brochure that there is also a gala night,Do people get dressed up for this too :?: (if there is one that is?)
Is the midnight buffet on the last night on the ship as this was the case on the spirit :?:
Thanks

Hi Kerrie, :D
The Captain's gala night was tuesday which is the day at sea. The gala buffet was on sunday evening and the dress code was semi formal. Most gentleman wore a suit and ladies dressed smartly as well. If you want to have your hair done at the onboard hairdressers for the Captain's gala night book asap as they get booked up very quickly. I had my hair washed blow dried and straightened for £25 worth it as the hair dryer in cabin isn't very good!

Are there towels provided in the cabins?
Reply
Hi, yes there are towels in the cabin and there is also a beach towel provided which was adequate.

Hello again
Now i know this makes me sound abit dim  But is the gala buffet the same thing as the midnight buffet :?:
Also i have the remington wet to dry straighteners i know there is probably not enough power in the cabin for them but i hear that some ladies use them in the corridor. Is there more power outside the cabin :?:
You can bet i will be back really soon to pick your brains abit more.
Thanks murphymo

No its not. The midnight buffet is a showcase for decorative food carvings and ice sculptures (which you can obviously eat). The gala night is just a semi formal night.

Hi Kerrie, ask as many questions as you like!!! :D
I must admit I bought some straighteners in Boots before we went that can be used worldwide (Nicky Clarke, they were on offer £25 instead of £35) but we travel frequently so I thought they were worth investing in!
We were on deck 4 and and didn't see anybody using the sockets outside but I was fortunate that my staighteners worked in the cabin.
If I can be of any help before you go then feel free to ask as many questions as you like :D

In the brochure is says there is internet access, does anybody know if this is an internet cafe or if you have points available in the cabins?

Hi Murphymo
Did you manage to see if they had Poker in the casino? Just trying to work out how much sterling cash to take.
How did you manage money? Did you take travellers cheques?

Oh my god i feel so stressed out :rage I feel like i have one hundred million things to do  . I have ironed our clothes and hung them up but i am waiting till thursday to put them in the cases. Which does bring me to my next question. I know there is no laundrette on the destiny and they dont like you to have a travel iron but did anyone take one :?: I am freaking out about looking like a tramp if my clothes get creased. I know you can send then to be ironed on the ship (is this why they dont allow the travel irons? So they can make more money) or is it because they are considered dangerous?Personally i think it would be more dangerous to have the extention leads and i know alot of people take and use them.
Thanks

Irons are not allowed in cabins for safety reasons. If your clothes are a little creased, just hand them in the shower room and the steam will help the creases fall out.

Don't worry, everyone's in the same boat and I've never seen anyone look like a tramp.

I always take a iron away with me and never need it but knowing my luck it will be murphy's law  . I will try your tip if i need to and hang them in the shower room :tup .
Thanks again
