I have just spent January in Madeira and before I went I asked my daughter who works for Pestana (Disclaimer here LOL) to find me an English speaking taxi driver. I was put in touch with John who is youngish (say 30ish)speaks perfect English and who lived in London for 13 years and has moved back to the island with his young children. His fone Madeira number is 969 719 352 and I would like to recommend him highly.

Local bus Faro airport into town bus station then bus to Monte Gordo through Olhao and Tavira.
About €1.50 into town then €4.60 Faro and Monte Gordo.
Journey time Faro - Montegordo 1hr 33 minutes.

can any one recommend a taxi transfer for this and a price guide. i am not keen on a 2hr journey on a coach in july! my holiday company want £200 for private transfer! can anyone do it cheaper and how long does it take to get there, many thanks

i used polotur last year and they were good,
i have them booked for old town albufeira in june at 32 euros
and i am contemplating algarve casino in july at 53 euros
which is not bad for 1 - 4 people in a transit people carrier

Booked our transfers with Sur Travel, well recommended from people i work with, not too dear either and reliable too!!
I've just come back today and had my transfers with Sul travel - no problems on time both ways. €58 return Albufeira old town/Faro

Mind you, when he took us from Faro I thought he went an odd way - he seemed to go more of a country route - took a sharp left under some little bridge
which made it seem longer.

That sounds like the route Jorge took us on last time we went to Albufeira.

No was surprised he didn't come to pick us up Sagres as it was his idea. I can only assume he's forgotten.
We also went that way xmas, the driver said that there were roadworks further on and sometimes you may get stuck in traffic.
The youngish lad also picked us up last year but he put my wife off using them xmas as he was a little speedy, got to the airport in record time though. We used Daily Tours lda - 50 euros return and very good service.

Please exccuse me if I sound rude. Does no-one do non-brit trips on holiday transfers. I had the same problem in Seville. Ask someone for taxi costs and you get the same old tips, go for the old holiday destination.
I want to get from Lisbon Airport to the town centre, but cannot find any info.
Again I am not being rude or obnoxious but it does frustrate sometimes.
Even tried the hotel review page, but what a surprise, no-one goes to Lisbon yet it is rated as a great destination

Might help if you looked in the City Breaks forum under the topic LISBON reports, recommendations, Q&As 
If you look there are plenty on this forum who have been to lisbon including myself but we did travel from the train station not the airport and used the normal taxis
