Hi all,
Got back from CSR very late on Monday night and only now finding the time to submit a post. Had booked the holiday through Eclipse and was on a Thomas Cook flight. No problems and out of Glasgow on time arriving in Sharm on scedule. (Same on the return ) It was in the back of our minds about the hassle last year on our first visit and we weren't looking forward to it. We took over two hours to clear the airport then but what a difference this year. We didn't need a visa and went straight through passport control and we were picking up our luggage and heading for the coach 30-40 mins later. Arrived at CSR and luggage taken straight to the room. Given our bands at reception then headed to our room to be reunited with our luggage. We were in room 2256, for those who know the Hotel look towards the sea and it's off to your left. As we were near the entertainment area we could hear a bit of noise a couple of times we had an early night. Don't get me wrong this wasn't a problem and most nights we were out anyway. Room was of a good standard and kept clean, had no complaints about it at all and we were very satisfied with it.
Went for a quick walk around the grounds/gradens before going for dinner and we were both very impressed. It really is well looked after. Quickly sussed the smoking / non smoking aspect to the dining area and being Scottish we found it strange to see people smoking in restaurants (It's coming your way too ..). While on the food topic I thought it was good for a hotel and on comparison to last year where we had to try and find a waiter for drink (Concorde el Salam), going to the bar yourself was better. I also liked the fact that you were given bottles of water and they actually had fonts around the resort too.
The area around the pools is great (one heated) and the wooden beds with substantial mattresses mean you have to watch you don't nod off in the sun

For me I liked the fact you could go for a walk using the walkway between the hotel and the large beach, it seemed to go for miles in both directions and the views as you walk out the long narrow pier into the sea are stunning. The water as expected is so clear. It was out on one of my walks that I found a nearby Italian restaurant ( Dua Dua ) that we eventually visited twice in the week. Good food and reasonable prices. We also did the Italian in CSR which was great too and you only pay for your drink. Remember you have to book this in advance but worth it.
Heard a few negative comments about Naama Bay which we didn't visit last year but visited it twice this year using the courtesy bus from the hotel, £2 return, excellent value. We liked Naama Bay and after a visit to the Hard Rock Cafe .. doesn't everyone.. we chilled out in a bar just watching the world walking by.
Neither the good lady or I were looking for trips and spent most of our days around the pool with one afternoon spent on the beach, both were excellent and CSR had everything we needed for our weeks break. The staff couldn't have been nicer and helpful, the weather was good and the drink was ok ( sorry usedtobekaz33 ). I'm a Guinness man myself so all I look for is cold and wet lager, which it was, to ease my thirst

. Both of us like wine and apart from one day when the wife said her white tasted like fuel, the rest was ok. Like others have said I listened out for names I could recognise from the forum but heard about three ladies called Karen ... so decided against asking them all, you know how it is.
In closing, sorry this was meant to be a short post, a fantastic time at CSR and would definately return.
Wilson
