Why do I like Greece? well, were do we start,
the people, the sceanary,the weather, the way of life everything!
Jinny and I have been going to the Greek islands for around 20 years now and cant wait for the next four and a half years to pass till we retire to one of our beloved Greek islands(still dont know which one yet as ther are still too many we havent yet viisted!)
Our first visit was to Corfu with our son in the early 80's, we've since been to many other islands and the mainland. Every island is different,all with good and bad pionts.
We are off to Lefkas in July (yes i know it's a busy time but it's the only time i could get off work!) and we cant wait. So looking forward to the Greek way of life for two weeks, so laid back it's horizontal, health and saftey- you know its dangerous so don't do it! no smoking area- yeah it 's over there the 2 inch gap behind the telly! Nothing is ever any trouble it'll be fixed tomorrow! Oh I cant wait , if only England had the same outlook on life!

hi all,whilst in pefkohori last month we were given shots of vodka north at mamos bar,has anybody tried it,lovely,whilst im not normally a shot person ive been looking everywhere as to were i could buy a bottle.can anyone give me a clue please?

I am flying to Preveza on Sunday from Gatwick and then going onto Lefkas. Coincidentally, my friend is flying to Cyprus the same day 40 minutes later so we will meet up at the airport!

Hi forum and Clare75, Beth72 and Donna who should be joining me shortly as we have been asked to move here due to our general chit chat about our holiday to Crete in a few weeks time - hope you dont mind us joining you!

We are so so excited that somehow we now manage to chat on here everyday just about our holiday generally!

I go 4 weeks Tuesday and counting - there will be me and my partner and our 3 children and I have bought far too many clothes and too much suncream but hey we dont want to burn lol

We are staying in the Petra Mare Hotel. This will be our first visit although I did go to Turkey a few years back and Cypress about 5 years ago.

We have also been talking about BB and yes Clare can you believe Charlie will not be up for nominations this week - but I might even vote for Billie myself - god he is just a horrible person - do you know he voted for Johnathan last week because this is one experience he couldnt buy! Horrible man!

I have now started buying activities for the plane lol although my Son wasw going to take his PSP - do you think he will be allowed on the plane? So you think £700 is ok? I might leave some in the account just in case! I should call my case Justin lol

Anyway should dash and forum I hope you dont mind me intruding!

Felt like i was at school again getting sent out of class for gossiping!!!
The excitment about going on holiday is getting too much just want to be there now!! so cheesed off with this weather,hope Crete is still having a heat wave when we get there!!!
Billies got to go i'll be voting for him this week,don't care if cheesey quaver (raver) goes either thought she was gonna be funny but she's boring me now! Carole's got to stay in to do the cleaning!!
Lorraine i would say £700 will be enough it definatly wouldn't hurt to have abit in the bank just incase though i'm gonna make sure i have.
Going shopping for my suncream tomorrow do you know who's got the best deals on i.e buy one get one free,need to start slowing down my spending abit so i have enough spending money!!!

Soz forgot to say don't know if you can take ps2 on the plane i need to find out aswell because our girl has one and her ipod that she wants to take with her , i wanted to take our portable dvd too for the boys after you saying you didn't think there would be little tv's in the headrest's it would also be handy for the hotel room,last year when we went to spain the only kids channel they had was in german!!

hello everyone that is off to the petra mare.I am going on the 3rd july so i will miss you all as i leave when you all start arriving.we leave on the 17th but hey i dont want to be talking about when i leave...There is me my hubby and 2 kids age 12 and 6...I have just got my euros toaday and got £500 worth and will take a couple of hundred in our money....We like to do a few trips and eat out a couple of nights ...We took this to Bulgaria last year and came back with a fem hundred so here's hoping , i know greece is a bit more expensive than Bulgaria..I will be taking my sons psp as he was allowed to use it last year on the plane .If there is anything worth mentioning to you when i arrive i will go online and post a view..as my daughter will be on msn at some point of the holiday....this is a lot cheaper than her txting her freinds,as it is 50p a txt....

yes you can take the ps2 on the plane as well as i pod /dvd player etc...
you must keep them turned off during take off +landing though.

Gail hope you have a great holiday, let us know what it is like. Lorraine i am going to take about £400 for the 2 weeks and use my card for trips if i need to. I mostly always go all inclusive and never run out of money and i don't scrimp.
You can take the PSP i am going to get myself the brain teaser for the Nintendo DS and keep myself busy.
My husband was talking about buying a portable dvd to take so i will look into the best deals.

Dont you think its scary all this talk of portable dvd players, psp, ds's lol I bought my daughter a colouring book and pens for the plane although she does own a ds! When we went to Turkey all inc we never even watched the tv lol as we are taking an 18 month old we will also be filling our suitcase with toys lol I think we will just take little cars etc

I think ill take £500 in euros and keep the rest in the bank just in case lol I know what my kids are like if they see money it will have to be spent!

I got my holiday pics developed from 3 years ago to get me in the mood lol I just soo cant wait for this holiday although we are off to Chessington World of Adventures tomorrow as the kids are on another staff development day!

Oh I did buy my travel wash lol

Anyway better go BB just about to start - actually Clare, last night I actually felt a little sorry for Billy! I hate Charlie and I think Brian is great albeit very thick lol

Hope you had a good day at Chessinton.I had a busy weekend,we had friends round that we hadn't seen for ages so ended up talking untill the early hours,well you know what its like for us women that like to talk theres always so much to say!!!! Anyway done some more holiday shopping just a few bits,got my travel wash aswell and little bottles of shampoo etc the boring stuff! i'm nearly done now how are you getting on have got everything you need?
I know its worrying all this talk about dvd players,but my boys have a habbit of waking up early even when they've had a late night and i don't always want to get up when they do!! so i thought that if i take the dvd player i can put that on and go back to bed!! thats the plan anyway!!!!!
Didn't see any bb last night watched the Diana concert instead,i doubt i missed too much,well i'll get off now speak to you again soon x

Im nearly done to tell you the truth now its a case of stopping myself from buying anything else lol I bought my books today I have 4 and the one I am reading - lets hope I actually get to read them lol do you think 5 is a bit much lol

Ive been re reading the reviews and im not a tad worried anymore lol there are some really good ones aswell as the bad ones and the last all inc we went to was not great so hopefully this one will be much better lol

I'm not worried about our holiday either,i've got a feeling we're gonna have a great time!! the weather has been so hot there well into the 30's god knows we need some good weather i'm getting so depressed with this constant rain,don't know what i'd do if i did'nt have this holiday to look forward to!!
I've heard from a few people that in Greece you can't flush away toilet roll it has to go into a bin,do you know if thats true?Hope the bin gets changed regular!!!!

Yes it is true you can't flush the toilet paper away, i had forgot about that. What i do is bring some nappy sacks and put the paper in that and it goes in a seperate bin that is usually emptied every day.
I am thinking the same as you, go and make the best of it.
I have about 5 books to read and intend to do just that.
2 weeks today i will be at the airport yiphee.

I am taking 5 books too and God I cant wait - I think ive got SAD at the moment ie. seasonal disorder which you usually get in the Winter but it feels like Winter lol

YIPEE!!! Got my tickets so really happy today inspite of the weather!
Thanks for the advice about taking nappy sacks Donna,its the first year i wouldn't have packed em aswell now my youngest is out of nappies.
Still not got any books yet will definatly get em this week,don't think i'll manage 5 though!!!!
By the way on the back of our ticket book is a free enterance pass for the water park in Hersonissos,would have gone if the boys were older looks great fun,although the slides at our hotel look pretty good!

Have you read the great review on the petra mare discussion forum. It makes great reading it has really cheered me up. Nice to hear good things about our hotel because that is why we booked it!

I wasnt sure if we were going to bother with the waterpark as we heard that it was not worth it and our hotel slides and the splash pool look fab!

God it really is going to be soon - YIPPEE I cant wait!

and what do you mean you wont be able to read 5 books - WHY NOT lol surely hubby looks after the kids on holiday lol dont show him this otherwise he will hate me before we meet lol

Yeah you know it!! If the kids arn't in kids club then hubby will definatly be keeping them occupied, after all i have them almost 24/7 !!!!
Will probably go for two books and some magazines i think that'll be all i'll manage!!!
Have just read Ginkster's review and it sounds great,just want to be there NOW!!!! Really looking forward to meeting you and your family after all this chatting on here it will be great to be able to chat face to face.
Doing my final shop for holiday bits n bops tomorrow, then it will be saving for some spending money!!

Well I bought 4 plastic cups today lol I didnt buy wine ones cos believe it or not im not a lover of wine it always tastes too bitter for me lol

Last time I went all inc I ended up spending a fortune on pina colada's lol and this is exactly what I intend to do this time lol although I hear the vodka is free!

I cant wait to meet you and your family either just hope we find each other - im sure we will we will be the whities from blighty by the time we arrive and you will all be nice and brown lol
