Discussions regarding holidays in Lanzarote.
I stayed there during first week of April this year, my kids (9&7) thought it was great.Wristbands were orange and sky blue if I recall correctly.I went with Falcon on an all inclusive package.
The place looked very well kept, apartment was ok and the First choice reps were superb as were the entertainers. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and the only downside was the food.
The breakfast was excellent and the lunches and evening meals were basic but lacked some good quality meat dishes. The food is very much targeted at keeping kids happy and expect it fried and battered
It is a bit remote from the town but I think we payed about €2 or €3 for a taxi into Playa Blanca itself.
The kids adored the holiday soccer school and the pirate ship high ropes activity. They were well supervised and catered for in every respect and I'd be more than happy to return but I'd opt for self catering next time.

HI there,

We are thinking of coming here on the 8th May 2008. Can anyone tell me whether all rooms have kettles or is it just the select and also is tea/coffee provided on the A/I as part of the apartment???

Also, (sorry) are they double beds or all singles, we are going 2 adults and 2 children.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks folks

Nia

I think all rooms should have a kettle, ours did and it was a standard room.
I never bothered with tea or coffee really on the all inclusive, but it was available for lunch and with dinner in the restaurant and I'm assuming it would be available in the AI pub and poolside bar with all inclusive.
In the main bedroom the beds are two singles pushed together and in the kitchen area the kid's beds are a sofa bed and a pull out bed in a drawer underneath.it was fine for young children.

The food was not as bad as some say, it was a varied menu.

However the pool bar area was less desirable

What can I say about the food? Well, it wasn't terrible, noone got sick but we did gain some weight because it was quite greasy, so much was deep fried and in batter. There was a lack of fresh veg and salads and some cereals that would appeal to the British and Irish tastebuds. The breakfast fry up though was very good.
I really didn't like the pizzeria at all but I thought the Spanish grill was fine.It hasn't put me going all inclusive though, the beer was actually drinkable and the soft drinks were ok too.Desserts were mainly ice creams and some synthetic looking pastries.
I'm a very picky person though when it comes to food and I'd be a very harsh critic anyway.I didn't eat out in Playa Blanca,it is a bit far removed from Holiday village so I can't say if self catering would be awkward or not.

we are looking at booking this for next year, however AI option has sold out, we have been advised to book the SC and upgrade once there. Does anyone have an idea of the price for this? 2 adults, 2 kids (9 and 13) - cheers

I've stayed here last year on an all inclusive basis and am considering going back next year. I'm very undecided as to booking all inclusive again. If I book self catering, does anyone know if I can upgrade on arrival to AI,
Thanks Sins

I actually booked it this morning for self catering, the falcon travelshop seemed fairly sure that you could upgrade once there.I know friends of mine upgraded in the benalmadena HV.The difference between self catering and all inclusive for me would have been €943 and I reckon you'd need to be a real hog to eat and drink all that much in a week :cheers. Also having had the AI experience in Sun Tropical last year I'm not sure if my system could cope with all that cholesterol

Looking at booking up for two weeks in july, i have been reading reveiws, and lots are coming back saying that the pools are freezing, especially the large one, will this be the case because with two small kids they probably won't go in, it would be great to hear your thoughts on this suject?
many thank vickie :cheers

Hi Vickie,
Don't worry about the large pool being cold.My kids didn't care about that and we went in April.
The big pool is also used for club activities like raft building so they'll probably just gasp initially when jumping in for the first few seconds and then acclimatise.
Holiday village has a few smaller pools as well,so they can always go there if the find the big one too cold.
On the plus side there's loads of sunbed space around the big pool :sun2 and the water isn't too salty either. Cold pools and saltwater are common pretty much across lanzarote and nothing beats this place for keeping children happy.
