I'd also heard about I-95 when I was there Dec/Jan and both my husband and I and the help of the taxi driver could not find it even though we did see a sign at the end of the road, so we gave up! We're going back in April so hoping to try it then.

blobb140 - sorry I didn't see your reply earlier.

I make a prawn curry quite often. I was given a mixture of spices along with some instructions a couple of years ago, which I followed, nearly to the word - added the spices and when we ate it we realised the amount of spice given was for about 40 servings and not 2!!! God was that hot!

I have found a really good recipe on the waitrose website, go to their recipe search and type in Goan - it's a great starting point and you can fiddle about with it. The only thing is you cannot get the fresh taste of coconut here like they get in Goa.

Hope you enjoy :D

Hi Miccie

Thanks for your tips it did make me smile as on numerous occasions we have also brought back spices and pastes etc and done exactly the same!!!!

Its a good excuse to go back...

I've had a few messages asking about "Ku"

Here it is..........

Ku looks really nice, but I've scrolled back and can't see where abouts in Goa it is?

We are friends with the Landlord or La Terasse and we spoke with him over the weekend, he was telling us how the tenants had left the restaurant without a word, and it was not possible to keep open at the moment due to monies outstanding

Sadly, the tenants had borrowed money from friends and had overspent on furnishings etc. before establishing the business. Thierry is now in Paris and Eric is helping a friend refurbish a house in Thailand.

Miccie, I'm pretty sure Ku is in Morjim........come on Max share your knowledge with us foodies!!!

The owners of "Ku" have an unusual approach to the business, they don't advertise, there is no sign on the road - Maria the owner says "I am passionate about food"

If you feel the same - then phone 9326123570. Reservation only! 8)

The food is - sushi, sashumi, thai & spanish - Maria is spanish.

Take the road across the Siolim bridge then left towards Morjim, then the turning that takes you towards Mandrem. Just before Papa Jolly's about 1 km before "La Plage" is a sign "Crazy Lobster" take this tarred road until the tar ends - you are at "Ku."

I would like to give Mai Thai a mention we had a lovely meal there on my husbands birthday the food was wonderful with a huge choice and the staff really gave 100% at very short notice they produced a cake and even gave him a gift of flowers how thoughtful is that! Magic

:) Mai Thai, is down the lane that leads to Whispering Palms and Mermaid restaurant, just turn off to the right just befor Mermaid.
I can endorse what was said about Mai Thai, it may not be in the most picturesque setting but the food and service is superb.

Jayne :wave
Ps yes they do serve Thai but they do other food as well

Finally made it to I-95 for the first time, even though i live almost next door. Food excellent, but boy is it pricey, especially if you go for the fancy stuff like smoked salmon. My top recommendation for a special place to have some unique food is still Bomra's in Candolim, with wonderful Burmese style food.

Hi, philingoa, so share your secret - where is Bomras?

It's down towards the Fort Aguada end of Candolim - next door to Havana Nightclub.

Great food - but leave early before the nightclub gets too noisy.

Actually Bomra's is next to the Havana nightclub, which seems to hardly ever open these days, so it's usually nice and peaceful.

Thanks for the recommendation will give it a try. We were speaking to the waiter in Chocolatti a few days back and he also recommended Bomras - he works there in the evenings and he reckons the food is excellent.

PS wasn't Havanna owned by Orianna (David Tito's wife)??
