mitchellclr,
Once you've checked-in online and printed your boarding card(s), and you're travelling with hand luggage only, you can go staight through security to departures, no need to queue at check-in (to check bags in). That's the main advantage of online check-in.

ok thankyou Darren .. thats very helpful..!
I'm sure you already know but you do need to ensure that the single piece of hand luggage size and weight meet the ryanair strict limits.

And that they are VERY strict about only having one piece of hand luggage. You can't have your hand luggage and, for example, a carrier bag, or camera bag or handbag.
the online checkin option 'from' 15 days before flight is certainly flexible. I have just checked in online and printed boarding passes and we fly on 1 Feb - in 22 days time.
Earlier this week I booked some great flights from Doncaster for late October this year. Depart at 1115 so up at reasonable time in the morning rather than during the middle of the night, arrive Tenerife 1545 - good time to arrive, still daylight and able to pop in to Mercadona do some shopping etc.
£65 a seat, cheaper and better flight times than East Mids / Manchester - heaven, well it was until I checked the same flights again (to see if they have gone up!).
It now departs at 1930 and lands in Tenerife at 2359 !!! I have rebooked early morning flights from EMA and await my email from Ryanair regarding refund/rebook etc.
As they say 'if it seems to good to be true it probably is'

Where is it ?
You've quoted a post from 2008. The site has been updated since then and that link no longer exists although the luggage label link is being updated and worked on and will be back soon. Luggage labels aren't actually needed as bar codes are attached at check-in so it's nothing to worry about. It's up to you if you want to put your name on a seperate label which is why the HT tool was developed and it makes it easier to identify your bags with the HT logo on them.

Just done my first Ryanair flight - Manchester to Alicante and return - and have a word of warning. On the way out there was a notice stating that in addition to the one cabin bag allowed by Ryanair you could now take one OFFICIAL duty free shopping bag! However, on the return flight - which is where more people buy - you were told at the departure gate that those bags now had to go in your cabin bag! A number of people ended up having to re-pack and 3 or 4 could not then get their bags into the cage and had to pay.. Also, I noticed that the lady choosing who to check was very good at splitting parties up so that there was only one person - the one with the bag that may not fit - being left behind so that they could not put anything into the other person's bag! Just wanted to share as I felt it a bit 'devious'.
Ryanair has an agreement with some airports in regards to taking on a bag of goods bought airside, but it can't be assumed that because you could take them on the outbound that they would be allowed on the inbound. Given the animosity between Ryanair and Aena about Alicante airport I'm not surprised that you can't take an extra bag from there.
This is an agreement with Manchester Airport and a select few other airports to allow an extra bag for those wishing to purchase duty free items, it's NOT across the board. Ryanair policy is strictly one bag only apart from at these select airports.

Just thought it would have been fairer if they had said on the way out that it wasn't the same on the way back. Fortunately, I am not a shopper so was not affected!
The CPAP machine is needed overnight to help sleeping due to a medical condition.
Easyjet were also no problem when it came to taking it and the hand luggage case.
Sadly JET2 are not being quite as accommodating, we are flying with them next week and just got off the phone to their Customer Services.
They say the CPAP can be carried but it will be part of the hand luggage allowance and not in addition to it, if we need to take it in addition to her hand luggage we will be charged extra as it will be 2 items of hand luggage.
Do Ryanair send you a cheque in these circumstances automatically to or do you have to go looking for the money ?
I have just received a flight change email and the card/account I used to book the flight last year is now closed, it was one of the Ryanair CardPassport cards.
I phoned Ryanair and they said to write a letter to their Dublin office and explain the Cash Passport account is closed, that I want to cancel the flight and they would then send a cheque.
I was rather hoping to reject the change via the email and not have to write etc and the cheque would appear automatically !
anyone had this happen to them ?
if you are not checking in cases but taking a pushchair as you have a small child do you need to go to the checkin desk anyway to get a 'luggage' label for the pushchair as its going in the hold ?
I have been asked if you can take tins of tuna (no drain !!!) in hand luggage. I thought it should be OK but thought I better ask the experts ie YOU !!!
Perhaps this is for new bookings as I have just added a case to an existing booking and the cost is the same as the initial booking fee of €15 and not €20.
I have been asked if you can take tins of tuna (no drain !!!) in hand luggage.
I suspect Ryanair wouldn't mind (as long as you didn't open them during the flight and make sarnies with the contents!) but the problem would arise with security, before being allowed airside.
I have seen Geneva security throwing away Marmite and canned vegetables because they were considered as 'liquids'.
Perhaps if the tins are smaller than 100 grams they could be carried in the 20 cm x 20 cm resealable clear plastic bags, but personally I would advise against carrying these items in handbaggage ... not worth the stress or hassle. Might it not be possible to buy tinned tuna at the actual destination?
thanks for the feedback - I thought I was the only one still looking at this website !. Some thoughts from another website have suggested similar to you - I will look at other options, last year I gave up on Mercadona Tuna after several years trying it !
Chris
Hi Chris, I don't know how to post a link to a reply I gave about a year ago , it is on page 51 of the Manchester airport thread , it was about tuna in hand luggage . As Alsacienne said its a security issue rather than an airline issue . Security might check because the metal tin would alert them when xraying , but if its no drain , there really is no liquid that should cause concern , and the product in the tin could not be described as as a gel , liquid cream or paste which are the things they are looking for . I really don't see why you should have a problem , if you have hold luggage it would be best to place it there , but if you're hand luggage only and have the " no drain" tuna and are not going out of your way to being awkward or difficult at the checking process then I think you will be able to take it .
