With a company as profit orientated as Ryanair

surely all companies are profit orientated - if they are not they go out of business. All companies are looking to make more money, Ryanair just talk about it openly more than others !

I'm just going to book some flights for a friend.

They want to take luggage, no problem there,

it says on the website 1 bag and on-line check in is £30
1 bag and airport check in is £40

so i want to save the £20

there is problems i can print there boarding cards off, but where do they take there cases when they get to liverpool airport

and i'm going to pay with my visa electron

thanks

They take the boarding cards you have kindly printed for them and their hold bags direct to the Ryanair 'Hold baggage drop' area and hand their hold bags over and go through security and rest before the boarding process begins !

Its just like checking in but a little easier / quicker, no long queues - apart from when there are 10 other Ryanair flights going at the same time !

Having had the good fortune to have lived on Merseyside I know they they will keep themselves amused in the queue!!

Right flew out Saturday with Ryanair to Alicante. Only paid for 1 bag and now airport check in. Checked in online. Had to q up with the rest of the ´gang´to drop my bag off. Got to the check in desk, showed my printed off boarding card and then he checked my bag in. I´m thinking that there really isn´t any point in paying for airport check in anymore unless you don´t have a ´puter! Flight was actually rather good! Although we didnt get a seat together but I blame my niece for ´browsing´ in HMV at Gatwick! John 123 I didn´t have to hide from anyone or anything!
Internet not that great out here in benidorm at the moment!!!! Got to grab it when you can.
Anyone on their way jetting off, have a good time!

So the 'mingle with the crowd and look like you belong there' approach worked.

I believe Ryanair aim to remove all airport check in facilities in October 2009 and only online will be available.

Glad you had a good trip !

jeromeserena,

Winter flights (beyond October) aren't released yet. You'll just have to keep checking and should start coming online from about June.

Just had our first experiance of Ryanair to Tenerife, By am I glad I booked priority boarding as the insane dash for seats is horrible! But not as bad as the prices on board, £4+ for a small can of beer for goodness sake. On the upside the Flight was on time & cheaper than the other Airlines :)

hi tubs,

Where did you fly from and how many, do you think like you, took the priority boarding option ?

Tubs - I would not worry too much about the 4 pound for a small can of beer if the airfare was good.

Just about all scheduled USA Airlines going across the Atlantic charge a ridiculous 6 dollars for a small can of "POOR QUALITY" beer.

Ryanair ain't that bad...

You have to remember Ryanair are a low cost airline and offer excellent value for money on point to point services. Even though inflight prices may be more than other airlines, when you factor in the overall cost of flights, they are generaly still cheaper than other likeminded carriers. Ryanair offer cheap airfares and make up the rest on extras such as inflight services. You have a choice of whether to purchase or not and £4 isn't much dearer than other carriers.

:tdown 3 yrs ago if I remember right they were charging £5 to check luggage in.... :yikes £30 /£40....are they charging less for flights to justify this rise in check in fees..

must check my bookings for this years hols...have 2 both packages one with thomson ...one with thomascook...no one has mentioned paying to check my hold luggage in....hope I dont land up having to pay out when reach check in on the day....as 4 of us would be £160.

is this a charge for everyone or just on flight only bookings on scheduled airlines

TWEETIE PIE,

Charges for checked in luggage is airline specific and generally only applicable to low cost carrers, such as Ryanair. Current fees are listed on Ryanair's website.

Priority Boarding was sold out on our flights (100 per flight I think) both directions & we had to fight through the people without the magic yellow ticket crowding around the departure gate, some got quite aggresive & didn't like the idea of us passing. Especially in Tenerife when they weren't allowed on our bus from the gate to the Aircraft, only when we had boarded were they allowed to catch their bus. It really brings out the worst in some people & causes a lot of stress & tension, so I'd definately recomend booking it!
As for the on board prices, yes I know its a matter of choice, but it was still a shock.
