I'm flying to Spain on Friday and have submitted our advance passport information online.

Unfortunately I think I've entered the wrong expiry date for one of the passports. The system won't allow me to go back in and change any details or even look at what I've entered.

Has anyone ever done this or know if it's likely to be a problem?

jan400,

As long as the expiry date you entered isn't going to expire before your dates of travel (ie the date of your journey home), you should be ok.

Thanks Darren, that makes me feel better. I actually entered 2018 instead of 2013 so they may not even notice!

Hi all
I have just booked with ryanair for the first time and have a couple of questions.

1- Reading through the ryanair website I noticed that it says no pooling of luggage allowed. I only booked for 1 bag for each adult and 0 bags for the 2 kids. I had intended just splitting their stuff between mine and OH's suitcases. Will I be charged extra at the airport for this?

2- Do ryanair allocate seats when checking in or is it like the easyjet stampede at the gate?

Thanks

sara24,

1 - You will be charged if you go over Ryanair's luggage allowance. If you are within the allowance then you will be fine. But as you say, you can't pool luggage so if you want the children to have the full allowance then they will have to have their own case and you'll have to pay for it.

2 - It's the easyjet scrum i'm afraid!

You can book priority boarding passes but not seats I'm afraid.

Thanks. I hate the fighting at the gate thing!! Will go and add on priority boarding. Just to clarify the luggage thing, will it be ok if the whole family's luggage comes in under the 30kgs or will I still have to pay extra for the kid's stuff?

As you paid for two bags each must not weigh more than 15kgs you can share bags weight is the thing 15kgs per bag with 10kg of hand luggage each, they are now strict on both weights and size of hand luggage, think its 50 x 40 x 20cm for hand luggage only one hand luggage per person handbags etc must go inside hand luggage, worth buying some luggage scales on ebay just £5.00 worth every penny.

As others have indicated, Ryanair are very strict on the luggage now. If one case is 16kgs and the other 14kgs, you will have to swap things round. I've lost count of the number of people who end up with their suitcases open on the floor in front of the check in desks moving items around!!

Although I've not seen any hand luggage being weighed, when I flew with Ryanair last week, no-one was allowed through the gate until all of their hand luggage had been combined into 1 piece. The fact that this took most of the bags over the hand luggage size didn't seem to matter, however, I suspect that will be the next thing they clamp down on as they can make money forcing people to check these over-sized bags in.

Personally I've never had any problems with Ryanair - if you follow all the guidelines to the letter then you should be fine.

Hi sara,

Just a thought. Adding priority boarding allows you to 'fight' with all those that have also booked priority boarding ! Priority boarding is 'limited' to up to 90 passengers per flight !

Chris

ps I bought some cheapish luggage scales (from a shop and not from Ebay) and they were very unreliable - I took them back and got a refund.

I agree buying scales is a good idea but if you do check them using some that you know give a true weight, I know how do you know they give a true weight ! Better to do this than find you are a few Kgs over (or maybe under) when you checkin at the airport and if over paying excess bagage fees.

A bag of sugar is a good test !

Don't forget to sneak along to an unused check in desk at the airport and check your bags on 'official' scales :)

At the scales in Ibiza last year, if you put your toes under the front of the scales and lifted - you 'lost' 2kg :rofl

For recommendations and discussion about hand-held or pocket-sized luggage scales, please refer to THIS topic in our General Holiday Enquiries forum.

However, whilst these gadgets may help you to do your packing, they should not be regarded as any more accurate than airport scales and they are unlikely to help you in the event of any dispute with an airline about the weight of your luggage.

My mother and daughter checked in a case each at the weekend.Due to the fact they were taking stuff across for family there was a chance the weight for each was going to be over 15kg.Both were 17kg and cost my mother £60 :(

Thanks everybody. Starting to sound a bit of a nightmare. May add another bag on just to be on the safe side. If I do this though, does that mean I can no longer check in online?
Reply
Even if you add another bag you still only get 15kg per passanger so 30kg for 2 PAX.

You cant book in online if you got bags to check in.
