Also a large explosion was heard coming from the roof of the Taj hotel. They were also reporting that one of the most senior anti terrorist policeman in Mumbai was killed.
All scary stuff, these thing happening today are not good for Indian or Thai tourism.

terrorists still roaming the sreets firing shots. all ba flights cancelled
British Airways have stopped all flights to Mumbai. I expect all the other airlines will follow.
Nine terrorists have beed arrested
sounds like a battle going on at the taj. huge fire at the dome
Also being reported that hostages have been taken from a hospital in Mumbai, this is crazy stuff.
I just hope that its only the blinking terrorists that die.
It's burning away and with the battle going on....not a single fire engine in site. They are now saying the Taj could end up as just a pile of ashes.
OMG.....What is happening to our beloved India???
latest news says 100 people rescued from the Taj. I hope that is all the hostages

I'm flying to Mumbai on tuesday with Virgin. I sure hope they will still be flying them. Not sure I will be staying in Colaba again.
I had just found a flight this evening to Goa on the 17th Jan and we had planned to spend a few days in Mumbai that's unlikey now which is very sad and perhaps a few more people who planned to travel will have the same sentiments.
A one off incident ? who knows but it seems certain from early reports that British and US citizens were being targeted.

and just can't beleive it, what makes it worse for us is I'm not sure if one of our volunteers who has spent three months with us is there or not as she left yesterday and I told her to stay close to the Taj! I'm pretty sure her flight wasn't till today, but can't get hold of her.....
My thoughts are with everyone with friends / family there....
There is alot of security about here in Goa at the moment.Road blocks at all junctions, and police/army everywhere.
The following message has been received from the British Deputy High Commision for all British Nationals:
We are advising those in Mumbai to remain where they are until further notice. Those who are in the affected area outside their hotels are being advised to go to the British Council Library (022 2279 0127) which has been set up as a muster point for British citizens in need of assistance. The area is closed off but we are taking in Brits. Local security is advising against entering the area as they are trying to control the area (partly for us) but those affected can enter.
For those in other parts of the city wanting advice on whether to leave, we are advising them to seek local advice from their hotels as to whether they can safely reach the airport and catch flights out of Mumbai. For those who had planned to come to Mumbai, we are advising against all non-essential travel for the time being.
Helpline numbers are:
