Come on girlies, we can do it I'm just home from the gym and had a delicious carrot and corriander convent garden soup, it was so nice I was tempted to eat the whole carton but I resisted. Not much in the quorn range in my Tesco but I did buy 2 peppered quorn steaks which are really low in calories and fat so I could have both (let you know if nice).
Yes ShirleyV we do go away same date 17 July. Where are you off to?
Bluemax - you get on down to your gym and aim to lose 1.5lb a week. When I'm bored and feeling lazy in the gym I start to sing my "diet anthem" - in my head of course, not out loud, or they would cart me away . Now, it goes to the tune of Queen's "I want to break free" but you sing "I want to be thin, I want to be thin, Oh God I want to be thin" .
Mind, I don't tell just anyone about my "diet anthem" , am only sharing it with you folk because you're my "diet buddies" . And if any of you make it to the charts I'll be claiming royalties
Still i need the time to lose the weight!!!
I've managed to lose a stone over the last 2 months, mainly by cutting out crisps and chocolate, and trying not to eat carbs in the evenings.
Just wanted to wish you all luck with your diets and gym visits. I am probably what you call one of the lucky ones who can eat anything and stay at the same weight. I don't know why but I have been told it could be that I have a fast metabolism. You are all so good giving up things that you like to eat. I don't drive so weather permitting I walk everywhere. I am also an Avon rep which involves a lot of walking, I don't know if this helps me maintain my weight but I could not go to the gym. That sort of excercise just does not appeal to me. My son is even a personal trainer and I could have a personal workout in the comfort of my own home, but I am just not interested in that kind of excercise. Maybe some of you ladies who drive could leave the car at home and walk instead now the weather is getting a bit better, it may help some of you. You have all kept me entertained with your posts and when I hear 'I want to be thin' blasting out from my radio I will think of you all.
Hope you all achieve what you are aiming for and hope you all have great holidays
Rgds Jackie
kianic, keep up the good work and at the rate you are going you'll soon lose the rest. 1 stone in 2 months is brill. Especially compared to my measly 1/2 stone But I mean business and am back on track as from today
I to am a yoyo dieter,I go to slimming world and have been a member for about 7 yrs Although i have to say you couldnt find a better plan(for me anyway) i just cant stick to it.I got within 13lb of my target and thought yay lets go and celebrate and went missing for months only to go back 1st 1lb heavier Why do i do this to myself At the moment i am trying to lose a few pounds but not to look thinner which would be lovely but because i know i can gain 10lb in a two week hol.
I need to lose 3st all in all(not much chance of that in 3 weeks ) But i have a cruise booked for nov and i REALLY REALLY want all the weight off for that holiday.
My husband goes mad cos all i say is "keep that camera away from me" and he said if anything ever happen to me the kids wouldnt know what their mother looked like cos of no photos(not planning of going anywhere just yet but he is right i suppose( you would think i was not on the hols with them) I am so determand to lose all this by the time the cruise comes along. So come one girls WHO'S WITH ME??????????
Kerrie
Ps i think i have lost about 20st just going up and down
Does it work for you, is it easy, do you think you can stay on it indefinitely?
I am not going on holiday again until February next year and I have three and a half stone to lose.
I know there is no easy answer to weight loss, but I thought I would ask about it before I parted with the enrolment fee and the weekly fee.
I'm so glad I found this post, its really cheered me up finding like minded people - I thought it was only me that done these sorts of things! I hate to admit this but as I'm typing I'm finishing off my last piece of easter egg, I was going to have a little bit each day but figured I may as well eat it tonight and get it out of the way (my low fat meal is in the oven )
Hi everybody, I've just had a cream egg, and am having chinese and bottle of wine later. Bank holidays really knock me to pot. Tomorrow i'm determined to start afresh. Holiday in 8 weeks, I just need to hold that thought.
For those who are on the " below 5% fat diet" - try M & S Count on us chocolate mousse - it's georgeous.
I've enjoyed reading through this thread and reading the success stories, it's nice how you give each other encouragement.
I've always been around 10.5 stone but over the last few months I've gone up to 11 stone and it just won't budge, ideally I would like to be 10 stone. I'm really struggling to get into my size 12 clothes but I'm not quite a size 14 and it's really getting me down. I joined a gym 5 weeks ago and have been going 2 - 3 times a week though I did have a blip last week and didn't go
I'm not really a snacker as such but I do tend to have a big meal of an evening which is my downfall especially as I do tend to eat a lot of potato and my lunch time meal is more often than not something on toast or a sandwich. I think it was Jodie who suggested cutting out bread and I think I'm going to try this and not to eat anything of an evening after 7pm, I think I could manage that. The only thing I can't do is all bran, I had to eat loads of it when I was pregnant years ago and I really can't face it now, I usually start the day off with a couple of weetabix.
My friend was talking with a fitness instructor yesterday and according to him when you exercise you need to eat plenty of carbohydrate afterwards, has anyone else heard of this? I know that after you exercise you carry on burning off calories for about an hour but it would be difficult to eat a load of carbohydrates after the gym if you went to an evening session, surely it would be defeating the object

A tip I heard the other day... apparently a coffee before a work-out doubles the rate at which you burn calories!
Not sure how true this is, but I read it in an interview with one of the Celebrity Fit Club contestants. If 'Mean Harvey the Marine' told her, it may be true!
Swimming is helping me I'm sure and then last week when on the treadmill looking straight at a huge mirror (yeuch!) I saw my collar bone starting to reappear after years!!!
Almost 2 months now of healthy eating and gym and I have 2lbs to lose to make it 2 stone gone!!!! If I can do that anyone can. First holiday in less than 3 weeks, then another in July and another in October - a posh one then, so I hope to look stunning by that time. Haven't bought any new clothes - am using those I couldn't fit into and had hoarded away for the slimmer times - glad I did that now - they seem like new ones!
Continued good luck to everyone on their personal missions - I love reading everyone's stories and hearing new tips.
Shell - I spoke to my son who is a personal trainer and nutritionalist regarding your post about eating carbs after training. His advice is if you are training in the evening or any other time of the day for that matter eat carbs prior to this as they will give you the energy you need for your workout but never eat carbs after 7p.m. if you are trying to lose weight. He says if after your workout you are hungry then eat things with natural sweetners in like fruit or yoghurt to rebuild your energy levels.
Kianic - Also spoke to him regarding the coffee before a work out doubling the rate at which you burn calories and basically you have been given the incorrect information. He said the only thing coffee will do before a workout is fill your bladder and make you want to pee during your excercises. As I am sure you know he says to make sure you take on board water whilst you are training to stop dehydration.
I hope this information helps some of you and if there are any other questions you would like answering just let me know and I'll bend my sons earhole some more.
Rgds Jackie
Hi Jackie,
I had one this evening and it was delicious.
I will certainly have more of them.
Another thing I have learnt to do recently is to eat as close to arriving home as possible. That way you are not tempted to pick at cheese, chocolate or crisps.
I have redy brek with skimmed milk in the morning with honey to sweeten it if you fancy something different.

I have being going wrong then, I thought what shell thought about eating carbs after a workout. Problem for me is one of my spinning classes do not finish until 8pm, I then only have another bowl of redy brek for tea come supper. However, another class finishes at 7pm and when I arrive home about 15 mins later I have pasta and sauce.
What is best for me to eat after I arrive home later in the evenings after a workout. Oh by the way, cannot stand lettuce
Kazee
Thanks Kazee,
