Hi folks..well I think I have lost 3lbs so far.I have cut out bread and potatoes which tend to make me retain the weight. Now that the Easter holidays are over I'm back at the gym 3 times a week. If I can't go for the class ,I go out at 8am for a 45 min walk. Then it's all done and dusted and I've got the rest of the morning. I have to agree that stir frys are a good way of eating. I leave out the noodles and use Blue Dragon sachet sauces with diced chicken breast and veggies. The info on the packet says they are low in saturated fat . Good luck to every one else trying to lose weight. It is definitely harder as you get older. You have to eat like a bird just to maintain!!

Hi all, I'm looking for a mighty broad shoulder to cry upon :bawl :bawl . Weigh day today and lost a big fat ZERO despite attending the gym 3 times and doing 3 very long power walks aswell. Also ate sensibly and only had 2 glasses of vino on Sunday along with my dinner. I'm at the end of my tether and fast running out of time to lose 16lbs. I mean what else can a gal do :?: When I go to the gym I'm there for about 1+1/4hrs and use the cross trainer (20mins), treadmill (25mins), stairmaster (8mins - its a killer), bike (10mins) with some weights in between :bhead Am so depressed I just want to get drunk :( :!:

Welcome CarrieBMW and valandrob :!: Do you want to join me on my new Elvis Presley diet :?: Return to Slender :!: :rofl
:gluck with your weigh ins

Sorry to hear you did'nt lose anything this week after all the effort, but as the old saying goes, which I am sure will bring you comfort in your darkest hour :D 'at least you didn't put anything on'

Keep it up Joolz, doing all the things you are doing you are bound to lose it in the end, perhaps you just had a little blip this week :!:
KEEP IT UP GIRL :gluck

Joolz it maybe all the effort your putting in at the gym is effecting your weigh in. When you go to the gym you start turning fat into muscle, muscle weighs more. You may find for a week or two that you weigh the same but your shape will change and you'll loose inches. That def happens with me and I've lost 3 stone since November.

Keep it up.

Sarah

Chin Up Joolz :wink - as Sarah says its probably because of fat turning to muscle, hopefully you'll notice the difference with clothes feeling looser :gluck . I went to the gym for the first time last night and actually quite enjoyed it, going again tonight, just hoping it has some effect!

Don't despair Jools....I'm sure if you keep on going and don't let this blip make you undo all your hard work you will see a loss next week. I lose inches at the gym but it doesn't always register on the scales.

An old SW leader once told me to cut down on the training and you should see the difference. I read that you can achieve the same results from walking instead of training. Cut down on the carbs such as bread, potatoes and pasta and see if that makes a difference. Some people are insulin resistant. I know I feel better and have a flatter stomach if I cut these foods out. Then you can gradually reintroduce them one by one to see if there is a link. Also don't eat too many bananas!! All foods that I love

Come on guys and girls...we can do it!! Another thing I read ( I read alot  ) ...make an image board on a sheet of paper. Cut out pictures of people who look good, slim and how you would like to see yourself. Piccies of celebrities with good figures, anyone really who you think..wow...if only I could look like that. Then keep it on a prominent place ( the fridge door?) as a reminder in moments of weakness and to spur you on.

We don't eat because we're greedy. We all know what we should be eating and not eating. We comfort eat due to stress!!! At least I do. Come on picture yourself all slim on the beach. 8)

why is it all the foods i love are bad for you? It is also hard to find a diet to please everyone in our house as both Rob and Gav (the 14yr old) are megga fussy and i end up juggling things to find a meal that everyone will eat..or i end up cooking lots of different things to try an dfeed everyone.
Invariably, the common things that everyone eats are bread, pasta and potato's...no wonder i am piling it on then!!!

Hi All
Managed to get to the gym and do 45 mins of boring cross training etc. but I let myself down later on by having 2 glasses of wine :? I am in such a habit of doing this in the evening after work that it is hard to break.

I have noticed that if I don't go to the gym then my weightloss is sometimes more (I know it doesn't make sense) but it's right fat turns into muscle which weighs more. The truth is though your body will look much more toned and the trick is to measure yourself once a week to see the inches come off.

I weighted myself this morning ready for my weigh in tonight and I think I may have lost 2lb in 2 weeks. It's so slow isn't it but we must all keep going because no matter how small a weight loss we will all look better on the beach than if we hadn't had bothered

Return to slender it is :D

Hi everybody, kids have gone back to school today, am determined to start back on my slimming world plan today. Bought my twist and shape stepper of internet £55, £90 for same machine on sky, went on for first time last night only lasted 15 mins, it was hard work but you could really feel it. Have been on diet since before christmas, but getting stale, hoping the exercise will help.
Its great reading about everybody elses progress. Keep up the motivation everybody, it'll all be worth it.

Just spoke to Craig (my son) regarding all the training and not losing any weight and it is right what Sarah and Carrie BMW says about the fat turning to muscle and weighing more(sorry I hadn't read their posts when I spoke to him). So look at it this way, you probably have lost weight this week but because you're being super good with your eating and training you are turning the fat into muscle therefore no difference on the scales. Don't be sad :bawl keep up the good work and it will be worth it in the end when you get all those wolf whistles on the beach :sun

:wave Hi to all my "summer dieting buddies"!! Have just finished 3 12hour shifts so thats why I've been quiet. Was anyone worried I'd sunk into a deep depression after not losing losing weight :?:  Its took me ages to log on here tonight aswell, systems very slow. I have been very good at work and steered clear of chox and bickies at teatime. Need to squeeze the gym in 3 times from now till Sunday.

Thanks for all your words of encouragement, funnily people at work who maybe hadn't seen me for a while thought I looked slimmer (maybe just been polite :!: )

Trashjohno - how are you getting on, you didn't comment on your weekly weigh in this week. Hope its going well.

Hi joolz, also had trouble logging on tonight. got weighed today and have put 2lb on in the last couple of weeks, had lost 1 stone 9 1/2lb till then, back on track now though, got a bad weekend coming up though, both kids going away for the weekend with cubs.
People you havnt seen for a while are always the best judge, people you see every day dont notice the change as much as its gradual.
keep up the good work.

Couldn't log on at all yesterday. Had my weigh-in on Tuesday and lost 4lb but this was over 2 weeks. I now have ½lb to my 1st stone (whoppeeeeeee).

Got a bad weekend though coming up going out for my son's 20th birthday on Sat but will be bowling as well so it might burn a bit off. And Sunday out with friends for an Indian. Will just have to stave then till Wednesday when I get weighed again  .

Keep up the good work everyone and even if you did put on this week it's not a disaster we are all still going in the right direction. Remember how good we will feel on our holidays.

gill-mag - Whats 2lb after all the hard work and sacrifices you have made to lose 1stone and 9 1/2lbs already. You deserved a blow out and now that you've had it you'll be back on track. Keep up the good work :tup

Jackie - :rofl :rofl chance would be a fine thing. By the way you should try substituting sugar for double cream next time you indulge in strawberries, after all we know sugar is bad for us

Carrie - Halellujah, halellujah :!: :wow 4lbs is fab in 2wks. Good on you :yipee

Well peeps. I have lost 3lb this week  It was 5 last time I checked.I have been mega stressed all week due to probs and lost my appetite but as things have resolved 2 went back on, so I'm still pleased. I have worked out on a graph that I need to lose 1lb per week until my hols and I will be at a good weight. Went to a step class this morning ....my coordination never was my strongest point!! Still, tomorrow is another toning/aerobic type class which I prefer. Keep up the good work peeps and don't let minor setbacks put you off your goal. Just put it behind you and move forward.

I have 39 weeks to go before my holiday and have two and a half stone to lose before I go.

I have already lost four pounds this week (mainly water I expect) and will try to lose one pound each week (bank holidays and Christmas permitting) before I go.

Hiya to all you wonderful people

Well just come back from spinning, which I adore. However, hubby brought me a cycle on saturday and we went on a 7 mile bike ride, yes 7 miles :x 4 hills included. We live in a semi rural location so getting to beautiful spots means hills. I could not grasp the gears nor the cycle, I have not rode a cycle on a road since I was a child
 Absolutely shattered, thought I would have been fab with spinning twice a week but hey, totally different.
Went cycling again on tuesday when we both came in from work, well, shattered again and yes 4 hills and 7 miles. Timing though was much better.
If I have not lost anything this week I shall go

Keep up the good work peeps

Kazee
