Jackie,
You say ready meals contain huge amounts of salt and sugar due to them being processed, does that apply to the soups found in the chiller cabinets? I ask as I am into Carrot and Coriander soup from Sainsbury or Carrot and Coriander soup made by the Covent Garden company.
No, the soups are fine, it is just the processed frozen ready meals, low calorie or normal fattening ones ; you know the ones we all use at some time or another for convenience. I bet the people that invented them were men they don't like making anything simple for us women

Thanks Jackie,
Before I went to the gym on Thursday I had some pastawith a view of burning it off and give me more energy, is that OK.
I now understand that I was going wrong eating after the gym, so wish me luck.
Diets, who made them eh
Good luck everybody
kind regards
Kazeexx
Surely you know that men made diets. That way they get all the choccies and cream cakes we bring home. With the exception of you Marcuschap72
I am sure you will all do fine. If only I had as much will power as you all have I might be able to give up the ciggies. Perhaps we'll save that topic for another day
Regards Jackie
the best time to eat is actually AFTER the gym. Your body is still working and burning up calories.Of course this still doesn't justify mars bars! I don't think, and somebody else can confirm or otherwise, that eating pasta immediately before you exercise is good for you. ( or do you leave it an hour or so?)
I am just thinking about starting a diet and have been looking through my Slimming world books ( I lost 15lb with them a few years ago to get down to my target- wish it was only 15lb now!)I found with some horror that I have to avoid the convent Garden soupls. For some kinds of it I would eating my entire "sins" for the day. So Slimming World dieters- steer clear.
Happy Sunday Summer Dieters - I think Sundays are a day of temptation so be wary Weigh day for me tomorrow and if I don't get a good result you'll here me screaming because I have been to the gym three times, been 2 huge walks and only had 1 or 2 naughty nibbles (which I am sure I earned ) Plus I've had a migrain and never had a glass a wine last night

You are right. If you are going to eat pasta before training it is better at least and hour or so before. Regards to eating after the gym and still burning calories, this is more for professional athletes who have an extremely fast metabolism and need to build their energy resources quickly.

It has just gone 11a.m and I have just sat and ate a 400g box of strawberries to myself.
What is wrong with that I hear you cry - they are fruit so are good for you.
Not when every last one was dipped in a bowl of sugar before I ate it it's not
Hope you are doing well
Regards JAckie
I have been cooking loads of stir frys recently. However, I use the ones that are prepackaged as I find chopping up loads of veg a lot of faffing about. Are the prepackaged stir frys just as good for you or are they covered in preservatives?
I have been on my healthy eating plan now for 8 weeks and still haven't lost my first stone. I refuse to call it a diet so my mind is fooled into thinking I'm not
I have 3½ weeks till I go on a girls city break and 4llbs to lose for my first stone. Weigh in day is tomorrow and I have everything crossed that I have lost a couple of pound at least
I would love to have lost another couple of stone for my summer hols but I have to be realistic don't I?
It is definately harder as you get older because in my 20's I would have lost loads in 8 weeks but not anymore it is a hard slog. But worth it in the end to feel better and more confident
My downfall is wine
The prepared stir fry packs that are found with the veggies are fine. It is just all the pre cooked ready meals that you find in the frozen dept.
Regards Jackie
ooohh Carrie - wine was also my downfall, but haven't had a glass now for more than 6 weeks!!! However, did have a couple of vodkas at the weekend which then started me on the crisps unfortunately Have only lost 1lb this last week, one more to go for the 2 stone but it's not shifting. Mind you maybe it would have if I hadn't had those crisps, oh and the Cream egg bar that threw itself at me when I was buying a newspaper on Saturday!!!
I am really pushed for time, working irregular hours and never seem to be able to eat at the right times....and i seem to be able to put weight on just by looking at food these days (must be as i approach 40 coz up until last year i could what i wanted when i wanted and still remain a size 10)...so any advice for me of what stuff to eat that will help me lose weight without leaving me feeling superstarving all the time and maybe some sort of excercise regime i could do, bearing in mind that our local sports centre has just been condemmed!!!!
Thanks everyone...
I have a gym membership that I haven't used for 3 weeks but am determined to go today If we exercise the weight will come off quicker but it is sometimes hard to find the time. I work full-time and have 4 kids and I expect a lot of you do to. The thing I find with the gym is that it is very flexible when it comes to fitting it in with everything else. Alright I admit it's pretty boring but what a great feeling you get when you have finished The trouble with set classes is they are sometimes difficult to get to aren't they? You could always get a dog and walk walk walk. We actually do have a dog but he is a nightmare to walk as he is so strong I can't handle him very well.
I think I will try to have a few days of wine free evenings this week as I know this hampers how fast my weight is coming off along of course with my age and slow matabolism
Good luck all
Carrie, I'm with you on this one- definately going to the gym tonight, I really want to lose a couple of pounds when I weigh myself on Friday, also not having a drink till Saturday now, feel like it will kill me but I need to shift some weight and soon!
Hmm yep, i think i forgot to mention the booze, i am sure that has an effect on things..Rob didn't drink for 2 weeks and lost over half a stone despite stuffing kebabs and pizza down his neck...me on the other hand.. i went for a week minus the vodka and didn't lose an ounce..(didn't eat the kebabs either).
My routine did involve getting home at 6pm sticking my Davina DVD on for 45mins, then a healthy dinner.
But now, i get home and have to watch Deal or no deal (repeat on More4), and i find I cant find the motivation to exercise afterwards.
