Hi Danny316,

You must be gutted.

We have booked long haul with Thomson, and I only agreed to fly long haul on the condition that my husband booked Premium ..... just hope they don't follow the same lines as TC.

Pat

ps Congratuations on your wedding!

degsy,

Are you genuinely travelling on all these flights or is this yet another request for your travel & tourism course? TCX288K/L are scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 757-200.

Darren

TCX288K/L are scheduled to be operated by Airbus A330-200 on this date. ;)

Thanks for your good wishes folks, just seems it one thing after the other with TC and the customer service has been disgraceful
We had paid for premium as I really need the leg room but looks like I'll have to remain couped up for the flight as they told me I couldn't book an extra leg room seat. but have given a refund for one way of the journey

Still I hope that we have a great time .....

Thanks again
Danny

Whats the story with cancelled flights - went into local thomas cook, we have a package deal for once, thank goodness, and they said well if flight is cancelled that is it, money back and we will try and find you something else. But, if you are restricted to these holidays dates what then!! And also holidays I presume will be dearer than they were months ago? So it sounds like they wont say well come back tomorrow?? We are leaving from Glasgow so booked the car in there for a week and hotel overnight night before.

What on earth is going on with Thomas Cook. It just seems to be one thing on top of another with them at the moment. I learnt my lesson with them 2 years ago, and vowed NEVER to book with them again ...... so pleased I haven't!

Struggling to get cases under 15kg and hand luggage under 5kg - are they being strict just now and charging excess?
Reply
Yes they are strict.

Some people have been lucky to get away without paying excess, but you shouldn't complain if you get caught out.

It is a very expensive risk to take!

pat,

As mentioned, Thomas Cook are the stricter of the charter airlines when it comes to luggage allowance. If you are over your limit, you will be charged for excess luggage at £8 per kg, it may have increased now though. If you are struggling, you can always increase the allowance to 20kg by calling the airline at extra costs. It's cheaper pre-boking excess allowance than paying at the desk. Bear in mind you can pool your alowance so each case doesn't have to be under 15kg, as long as your parties allowance is not exceeded.

Thomas cook always charge, no amount of charming the check in clerks works with Thomas cook when it comes to excess baggage. I would just prebook the extra 5kg for one of your cases, like Darren says you can use each others allowance as long as both cases aren't too heavy

Just checked their website, its £35 to pre-book 5kg, and I am too late for tomorrow. Going to go home and repack :-(

Hi. Just wondering if anyone knows if Thomas Cook at Glasgow Airport still let you check in from 6am on the day of travel for any flight that day? We did this last year and it was great to offload the luggage immediately on arrival at the airport, rather than having to wait for the check in desk to open 3 hours before the flight. :D

I'm going to Sharm on 20th July from Manchester, returing 3rd Aug. Our flight numbers are TCX626K and TCX626L. I'm just wondering if anyone can confirm what plane this would be. When we first booked Your Seat Your Choice said the plane was 2x3x2 seat configuration, but now it appears to be 3x3 which I am presuming means a smaller aircraft and less room :( .

Thanks

hcafc_laura,

TCX626K/L are showing as a Boeing 757-200. Further aircraft details are on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

we are going on thomas cook flight tcx87k on 30/05/10 to mexico and have been told our plane has changed to an old aircraft with no seat back tv and less leg room, we asked for our money back and were told no, we even have our seat numbers for the original aircraft that they knew weeks ago they would not have and are saying it is because of the ash cloud, we have done this journey many times with 31" legroom and it is bad this will be a joke 11 hours on a cattle truck, why did they block sales to this flight many weeks ago and have only just told us they are changing the plane it is so we have no time to make other arrangements, thye have had hundeds of complaints now so with luck we can get some money back of these jokers

mitchell tipton,

Welcome onboard :tup
You might find the previous few pages useful as you aren't the only one effected by the aircraft changes. Change of aircraft is covereded in Thomas Cooks (and most other tour operators) terms and conditions so you don't have much option really. The change of aircraft is due to a delay in the original aircraft going in for maintenance as it was used for repatriation flights during the volcano issues. Now things have settle down, it's going in for maintanance and hence the change of aircraft for a period (thanks MikeBravo). There's not really much you can do and just the circumstances. Aircraft with 30" seat pitch for 11 hours isn't always as bad as it seems, we were all used to up to around 2006, but I agree, it's far from ideal and not what you've booked.

skootsmon,

TCX65K/L are currently operated by a former My Travel Airbus A330-200. However this can change. It makes little difference really other than the position of a few seats and the external flight camera (equiped on the former MYT). Your flight shouldn't be effected by the changes, you'd have been notified by now.

It would be interesting to hear from anybody who's recently come back on a thomas cook flight. Wondering if they can confirm that there is now no ife on any short or medium haul flights pleas? I'm also wondering whether this means no music either. Thanks
