Hi I am flying on Saturday 6th June to the Dominican Republic from Birmingham on flight No. TOM644, can you please tell me if this is a direct flight as I have had heard from someone that they thought it might stop in Manchester to Refuel/pick up passengers. I would be grateful for any information you may have on this as I have two young children and not looking forward to the flight with them as it was.

This has changed, BHX-CUN-BHX now operates direct, had virtual full load thursday just gone and operated direct, showing on current flying schedule to operate direct for the forseeable future as well.

It's still showing on the flight schedule as operating via MAN for fuel (TOM662), although I do believe the lighter take off weights are now permitting the required fuel to be uplifted for a non-stop service.

The flying schedule I have is showing direct, updated 27/05/09
I also had friends operating the flight and it surprised me when they told me it was direct.

The former FCA aircraft have less passengers / luggage allowing more fuel to be uplifted so it must be in limits compared to the former Thomsonfly aircraft that used to fly the route. Couple that with possible reduced passenger loads through cancellations / opted to swap destination, no need for a fuel stop. They'll be cancelling the runway extension now then :rofl

Hi, we are flying on 16th June with Thomson from Manchester to POP. Flight number TOM122. Does anyone know if this will be a Thomson aircraft or First Choice. We are in the premium cabin and have reserved seats. Do we need to pay extra to get specific seats to guarantee we will be together?

Thank you.

MrsKris,

Welcome onboard :tup
MAN-POP-MAN (TOM122/3) are operated by a former Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER. You should get seating together so don't have to pay extra.

Thanks Darren, wow super fast reply.

After posting my query, I have had a look at the Thomson Fly page and that actually states that booking premium does not guarantee seats together!!! What a rip-off if we have to pay extra or arrive super early for the flight - AND it leaves at 0915!! When we decided to go for the premium, I was under the impression that we would be able to check in a bit later but on the tickets it still says 3 hours beforehand.

MrsKris,

The aircraft is configured 2-3-2 in premium so chances are, you'll be sat together. You can pre-book / pre-allocate seating for peace of mind if you wish. 3 hours is the standard check-in time for long haul flights. This is due to increased security at airports and it can take a while to get through at peak times. MAN opened a new security suite in T2 last November and it's far slicker than it used to be, but even so, it can still take upwards of an hour if you hit it wrong (and it's normally very busy when your flight is due to leave). That's why it's recommended to allow up to 3 hours. You'd be ok with 2 at a push as it's not the height of the season in June, wait until July!

Yes, Darren, I flew through Terminal 2 just after Easter and was very impressed with the new security arrangement. It was not especially busy but it took no time at all to go through.

I have taken on board your comments and I think I am resigned to a very early start but after all I have got two weeks of doing nothing to look forward to so I can catch up on my sleep then.

Hi, travelling from East mids to Gran Canaria in September, just wondering what aircraft operates this route? Details as follows:

steeveej,

EMA-LPA-EMA (TOM7362/3) are operated by a Boeing 737-800 (winglets). You'll find further aircraft details on our What Aircraft? thread.
