tairiddell,

Welcome onboard :tup
Your flights (TOM520/1) are indeed operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER, a former First Choice aircraft. Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more details. Tickets normally arrive 2 weeks before your departure date. If you don't get them tomorrow, I'd give them a call.

I'm flying from Manchester to Palma on June 16th at 6:00am with Thomson (TOM2240), and returning into Manchester at 21:30 on June 27th (TOM2641), do you know what aircraft I'll be flying on?

many thanks

Penbedw,

MAN-PMI-MAN (TOM2240/1) should be operated by a Boeing 767-304/ER (328Y short haul). Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more details.

On June 27 i'll be returning from Palma to Manchester on TOM2641, is that a 767-300ER too, or another aircraft?
Reply
Penbedw,

The aircraft that operates the outbound flight operates the inbound, so it'll be the same.

But the outbound flight goes out at 6:00am and arrives Palma at about 9:30am, while our inbound flight departs Palma at about 7:30pm, so will it be a 767 on the inbound flight to, or a different aircraft?....as I asume it should be departing Manchester around mid-afternoon.

Penbedw,

Your Outbound Flight, TOM2240 Is Operated By A Boeing 767-304ER (Shorthaul Config)
Your Inbound Flight, TOM2641 Is Operated By A Boeing 757-200 (Winglets)

We Normally Tend To Assume People Are Going On Holiday For 1 or 2 Weeks In Which Case It Is The Same Type Of Aircraft Inbound As Outbound. However As You Are On A 10 Day Holiday, They Are Different Operating Aircraft

TOM2641

:whoops Sorry, I missed your return flight being a different one as 99% of holidays are reciprocal. That's what happens when you're rushing and trying to do 10 things at once and working while posting here (don't tell the boss!!). Gower's correct in the details posted.

jamie09,

It's impossable to know this far in advance as they are rotated regularly. G-OOBK operates it most frequently but that's not to say it will be on 14th June.

BHX-POP-BHX (TOM644/5) are operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? thread. They are configured 2-3-2 thoughout. Seat pitch is 33" so quite comfy. If you're travelling this weekend, I doubt there'll be any extra legroom seats available now.

Just been out to Punta Cana flew out on G-OOBK lovely plane sat on front row in middle 3 seats and had loads of room. On return journey we flew home on G-OOAN, sat in same seats, not as nice as first plane, are they different aeroplanes as the layout was different on the 2nd one? :think

Yes, AN is the odd one in the fleet(from the passengers perspective) with more premium seats and less economy seats. It has something to do with the toilet layout, which could not be changed when the new interiors went in so First Choice had to work around what they wanted and what they could do with this bird. It was also the first of the six aircraft to have the new interior which is why it is now showing its age, unlike short haul aircraft these long haul aircraft have very little down time, Usually short haul aircraft sit on the ground during the wee hours at some point of the week, if not all week, and when they are on the ground for a few hours in the morning the maintinence team concentrate on safety items. With the 787 comming soon(!!!), they don't want to replace 1500+ expensive seats across the fleet, to then throw them out when they return the aircraft to the leasing company- Thomson are between a rock and a hard place at the moment with every decision they make.

The cabin is much larger on the ex-FCA aircraft, the seats are softer and are air filled, so on longer range flights are a welcome relief. The service is the same regardless of cabin layout though. I find the smaller cabin on the ex Thomsonfly aircraft nicer in that it is a more personal service the ex-First Choice premium cabin feels nice but impersonal. They also have power points, something the ex-Thomsonfly aircraft do not, the seats in premium are slightly narrower on the First Choice aircraft as they all have tray tables in their armrests rather than the seat in front, which steals an inch, but are very generous none the less.

Avoid row 9 as there is no window(apart from the afore mentioned "AN"- see above) Apart from that they are the same really. IFE slightly different on the FC birds, you get extra games and music stations but no CD collection.
