I will be in Fuchal on my T/A cruise March. I will follow your advice as to what I should do whilst there. Sound good. Many thanks
Sue
My mum, gran and I are off on the Colourful Coasts cruise from 2nd-9th March and we were looking for some tips.
Does anyone know if towels are provided for use around the pool, and can these be taken off the ship on days out?
Also, can anyone give us an idea of what the day-time onboard entertainment activities are.
And one last thing - we've booked an inside cabin on decks 2/3 and were just wondering how much noise we're likely to experience.
We're getting very excited now!!
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer and welcome to HT!
We have just returned on Friday from a wonderful week on the Destiny.
Yes there are pool towels provided in your cabin, (there is a £10 charge if you lose them)
Daytime entertainment varies, I must admit we don't really join in much of it, but there is generally something going on.
They have a quiz on deck during the afternoon, ice carving, fruit carving, a three piece band on different days. (If the weather is not so good they move inside and let you know over the tannoy).
They show films in Blakes, there are destination guides on in the Can Can, and you can also watch the rehersals for the shows.
The Oklahoma Lounge has Bingo, quizzes going on and other shows like Mr & Mrs, Play your cards right, at night time.
The Clipper bar will have the pianist playing at various times during the day and night.
When you get there you will get your cruise news. This gives you a complete listing of whats happening, when and where for each day.
With regards to noise, we have stayed in inside cabins deck 3 twice now, in the bow and midships and have had no problems with noise whatsoever.
The cabin walls are not thick, but we didn't spend enough time in them to notice that we might have been being disturbed
Have a wonderful time. It is a great cruise
I'm unsure about a lot of the daytime entertainment but my mum is an avid fan of Butlin's so it'll suit her down to the ground!
Only 3 days to go!
xx
Have a great time Jenny we did
going our first cruise this year on the destiny hubbys present for my birthday dont know what im more affraid of turning 40 or going on cruise any tips people
Best tip, lose a stone before you go and don't take anything thats already "just fitting".
I have cruised a few times now and there has always been something I can't wear after about three days on the ship
Now if I go for two weeks I have week 1 and week 2 clothes
Without knowing what you are looking for I am not sure what to tell you but if you read through the reveiws and this forum and come up with any questions then just post, there are always loads of people who will help.

The captain is currently a guy from Greece, Terry Konstantinedes (apologies for the spelling!). His English is very good and he seemed like a nice man in general.
Is that you back from your cruise already? How did it go?
I'd really appreciate it if you could post a review in the reviews section.
luci
Yes, that's us back already It was absolutely fantastic - I was so upset about leaving yesterday morning I couldn't even eat my breakfast!
I'll post a review in the next couple of days when I've got over the shock of being home again!
I do have another question, though - it was the entertainment team who made the holiday for us, so does anyone know what happens to them at the end of the season (whenever that is?). Do they generally all hop onto another ship or do they drift off in separate directions? Just so I can plan my next cruise!!

jenni, the ents team and show team will be on board till early may , then the summer teams go on till about october. Some of them stay and are allocated a diffrent thomson ship for next winter others drift away. Its not very often that more than a couple of them would be on the same ship next year, and the same for the summer season. My daughter did 3 summer seasons with them and 3 diffrent ships.
Yoo Hoo Laine. Where will Lou be this summer?
Just had a call from Thomson today to say that one of the ports on the summer med cruise has changed.
So we're going again and I'm so excited (taking my boyfriend this time instead of my mum and gran, so should get a very different holiday!).
Thanks again for your help,
Jennifer
