Hi

Fairly new to the forums and not sure if I have posted this correctly.

We are going on the Destiny a week tomorrow Thursday 2 August for two weeks to celebrate our 35 th wedding anniversary. Not been cruising before but have done quite a bit of travelling. Have seen Rome so do not want to go there. Is there much to see or do around Civitavecchia??

Thanks in anticipation

Civitavechia is a small town, but worth exploring. The area to the right when you go out from port area is worth strolling around and if you keep going there is a beach if that interests. You will certainly not spend any more than an hour or two, although if you stop for a drink it is always nice to watch "the world go by".

Bear in mind the best kept secret of cruising....stay on board or spend some of the day on board when everyone else is away, you will basically be two of very few enjoying the sun-deck....or other areas of ship.

Enjoy, but remember the health warning....you will be hooked for life! We did our first cruise 3 years ago for silver wedding, have now been 7 and doing our 8th in October.

I notice on the Destiny that the main restaurant is a formal sit-down one. (Seven Seas Restaurant).

Can anyone tell me what the Vegetarian options might be like (can anyone remember any examples, or even tell me how many options are likely to be available). Is it a full menu, or a choice of 3 or 4 mains or whatever. Can you order side orders if there's nothing much else etc. ? Also, what would the Lido buffet be like for me in the evening as an alternative. I mainly live on pasta with tomato sauce, but also eat pizza, salad, bread, will eat chips if stuck!

It is the Colourful Coasts cruise we are looking at - did it years ago on the Topaz and enjoyed it. Have been looking up the Celebration Red Sea Magic also, but we can get Canaries one for about £500 or so each AI...the Red sea one is slightly more and can't get AI. Also I think trips will add a lot of expense to the holiday.

Hi. We always head to the market. Get off the ship's shuttle bus where it stops at the entrance to the dock gates. Cross the road. Go up the road , past the Pizza place ( I think) and turn left up the hill away from the front. About 100 yards or so up the hill there is a street on the left with a set of steps leading upwards. This takes you up to the market place with all the local stalls, cheap clothes shops and the food market etc. There are various small roads leading back from the market towards the front which also has shops.

I'm not vegetarian but from what I remember in April the menu had a different vegetarian option everynight plus they will I'm sure try their best to offer you something nice if you dont fancy what they have.

We had room 3231 in July and that had a picture window, as will 3232 which is on the starboard side.

many thanks for your reply, just one more question are these cabins very noisy. People keep telling me I am mad to be that near to the rear of the ship.

Only time its noisy is when the side screws are on, when in the ports, either arriving or leaving. Even more fun at dinner time when the glasses start rattling:-)
