we were on destiny at Easter, hairdryer in cabin worked ok, but not powerful enough for thick hair ,it took ages, also my straighteners, heated up but not to full capacity, got hair done but not as good as at home.........however this didnt spoil my holiday we had a fab time, food ,staff, entertainment etc all brilliant. We are all desperate to go again!
As long as the straighteners work that should be ok. A girl wants to look her best now doesn't she. Does anyhone know if the eruo is accepted in Casablanca/Tangiers and am I right in thinking that trips will be availble when you go ashore. I have heard that the trips onboard are quite expensive. Di.
Hi wolvo girl you can check the trips and Thomson prices on the Thomson web site under 'ports of call' we did Thomson trips on both your ports of call but i would rec that in Tangiers do not walk out of the docks we tried it and found it a bit dangerous, good luck in Morocco.
Looking at Cabin 3009 as it seems to look larger than other 4 bed cabins, can you please advise prior to me booking.
Thankyou
We were on Destiny at easter (family of 4 too) we had cabin 3160,it was small, but I don't know if any 4 berths vary in size,we prebooked this one as it was near the stairs and ideal to get up to restaurant, kids club etc very easy to find, plus we only had 1 other cabin directly next to us(thinking about noise....from my family ,not others lol)You will have a fab time .
We had a four berth - 3001 and my friends had a four birth - 3002. 2 Years ago. There all the same size im afriad. Small but Coziiii. Your never in them unless you want to get changed. Just do it in Shifts. Adults first, then go to the bar and wait for the teenagers to get ready. That way you have the pleasure of having a cocktail while your waiting.
Also can anyone recommend a "good" cabin for a single person as Thomsons will only allow decks 2 or 3 ?
Hi marge it looks like from other posts the 'old' allinc is back but perhaps some one who has just returned can let us know, according to Thomas Cook who have 'checked with Thomson' it was only a trial for a short time!!!!! dont know about single cabins but i think they are all the same unless above deck 6
Regarding the cabin, I think I am right in thinking that you are only allowed singles on decks 2 & 3. In this case we were in room 3018 and it was excellent. A nice square window to look out of, towards the front of the ship so quiet (you couldn't hear the engines much and easy to find. Hope this helps.
Diane.
PS Will do a review when I have got some time to pay it my full attention.
I have just found this on another review site! :yikes, so have just copy & pasted the following:

EDIT: I actually have a copy of the letter left in the cabin that states
"here's whats included"
Draught lager and bitter
Cocktails - cocktail of the day, Long island iced tea and frozen colada cocktails
House spirits - vodka, gin, whisky, tequilla, rum and brandy
Martini - rosso, bianco, dry
Port - sanderman
Sherry - dry sack
Wine by the glass
Fruit juices by the glass - orange, tomato, grapefruit, apple and pinapple
Soft drinks by the glass - including cola, diet cola, orange, lemonade and water
Mixers, splash or glass - soda water, bitter lemon, tonic water and slimline tonic water.
You get a 50% discount on drinks not included on your All inclusive drinks package.
If I was going soon I would check with you travel agent on what you will be getting and what you will have to pay for.
Thank you for contacting Thomson Cruises.
We were trialling a new drinks package for the first few sailings, but this has now stopped with the package back to what it was before.'
We will re visit the package in the future but any changes will be communicated, existing customers considered and systems updated in line.
I hope this helps resolve the situation, thanks for your patience.
When I spoke to them, I understood that they had trialled it on all thomson ships, not just the 'Dream'.
Anyone out there that's going to be on the Destiny from 4th September?
im hoping to be onboard 4th sept
hi jackie, fancy seeing you here! Just visiting coz we're just considering booking a little trip on Destiny right now - for July!
i couldn't help it, i really tried, but i couldn't resist, I pushed the button....and I've just booked my fifth trip on Destiny. I haven't been on a cruise in 18 months, I don't know how I've managed that long!
left you pm see you soon
Me and my girlfriend are setting sail on the Thompson Destiny on the 10th of July. We are doing the Jewels of the Mediterranean itinerary for 7 nights and we can't wait.
I'm 25 and my girlfriend is 21 but we are not looking for a booze party, if we were we would of went to greece or ibiza like everyone else we know... what we are looking for is a nice relaxing break to clear our heads and spend some time in nice surroundings with decent people. We are on deck 6 inside and the holiday cost around £1350 which I thought was cheap for a cruise and with full board, although it's our first. We are not massive drinkers so I didn't think the £380 all inclusive deal was worth it, I've also read drinks onboard are reasonable priced.
I've read that you can't take an Iron onboard? What is the case with this... can you sneak one on or is a big no no. I've read mixed opinions. Also how much is the pressing/ironing service as a replacement? What is the Gym like? is it usable or more of a selling point.
We are already planning to do the monte carlo/ monico trip when we dock at Cannes, what other excursions would you recommend? Would we be better to get them cheaper from the guides at the ports?
I'm looking for some feedback on our deck also, deck 6... has anyone stayed here? What's it Like... are the cabins bigger than the lower decks?
Also one last question, The casino... what are they games like? Can you play poker? How do you buy chips?
Any tips/feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated... for anyone else who is there when we are... see you there!
Regards
Jack
You will have a great time. It was our first cruise earlier this year and we went on the Destiny. Didn't know what to expect, but we thought it was great. No too formal which would have put us off, good food and entertainment in the Cancan lounge - though we aren't really entertainment people (in the karaoke, comedian and bingo sense!).
You can't take an iron due to fire regs - seems a bit mean, but when you are out in the middle of the ocean you don't want a fire so makes a lot of sense. No point trying to smuggle one in - it will be taken off you if found and if, god forbid, you did start a fire I doubt your holiday insurance would cover you for millions of pounds of damage. Didn't use the ironing service so can't comment - put off by the price! We found we didn't need it anyway unless you choose to dress formally in different outfits each night.
We don't drink much either - you really would have to go some to justify the all inclusive. We rarely drink out, but drinks seemed around UK pub prices as far as I can recall.
Gym is small. Useable as long as only a few people on the ship want it. Doesn't open early enough in the morning for me (especially with the 5 hour difference in the Caribbean) Just one treadmill working in March and always seemed to be in use. supposed to be a 20 minute maximum, but most people selfishly ignored it. Some free weights and a couple of cross trainers plus a few bikes. O.k., but not really good enough for a ship of this size.
Deck 6 is fine - we liked 4 best as it was most convenient and very quiet, but 6 is just as good. Worth the upgrade to an outside cabin in our opinion, but it won't spoil your holiday. Felt a little confined in the inside ones - we liked to be able to look out! Size is identical.
Can't comment on the casino or med trips - sorry.
