I know Benidorm is very popular with many, many people but like Littlebopeeps, I hated it,
as did the rest of our party.
I'll never go there again.
Wasn't impressed with Singapore, it just didn't do it for me and I have no desire to return. The humidity at almost 100% was stifling. It may have been that we were fatigued after being away for a month, but I don't think so.
luci
* RP = received pronounciation ....... like the BBC but even more cut-glass!!
And I'm not usually such a snob, but it was the disparaging comments they were making ... and in Prague you need to look up at the buildings to get the full beauty of the place .........
This is an interesting thread I don't like tacky (sorry) so at least I know where not to go
Merged with existing topic.
Crinkley Bottom. Took my kids there years ago when Mr Blobby was at his height. Complete waste of money. A 4th rate theme park in a 5th rate zoo!
Blackpool! Used to go there a lot when I was young so was quite excited to be able to visit a few weeks ago. What a shock. The place was like a ghost town (early July) and everything looked so completely rundown and shabby. We couldn't get out quick enough and I could have cried all the way home 'cos I was so upset.
We decided that if God was going to give the UK an enema then Hastings would be where he inserted the tube!
Minehead. Could be lovely. But isn't.
Porthcawl.......... you either love it or hate it
For us it was Bulgaria, the only place we have been to and couldn't wait to get back home. Might of had something to do with the fact that 6 out of 10 of us was ill. We wouldn't return.
got to agree with you about Hastings, and i live there.
now you see one of the reasons why i try and spend so much time in Spain.
to be fair, there are some nice bits to see in hastings, think of Foyles War on tv which is filmed around here, the old town fishing museum etc. unfortunately the pier is closed and has just been sold, so that is another attraction gone.
still, i had to spend a lot of time in the lytham/blackpool area 2 years ago and decided i'd still rather live in hastings.
There are good and bad areas in all places - and it really annoys me when people run Hastings down, its not that bad and its getting better! I have lived in much worse places. Anyway I think I am digressing slightly from the subject - but I had to defend Hastings!
Sort of a Battle of Hastings then?
As for Hasting- OH is running the marathon there so I'll see his opinion of it.
I cannot believe that anyone could find the Taj Mahal disappointing. I stood still for 2 hours in wonderment at what I was seeing. Even though the photos are stunning you just cannot describe to anyone the magic of it.
Go to Rye instead if you are down that way;) It's pretty with cobbled streets etc
Been to Rye, probably why Hastings seemed such a dump afterwards. As for the pier closing when we were there the main attraction on there seemed to be a shop that sold nothing else but garlic!
James Bond Island Phang-Nga Thailand...looked for ages but couldn't find Scaramangas secret hideaway, just a load of stalls selling tat.
Nothing but garlic? Hmm...I wonder if they where worried about getting a vampire invasion Anyways, I'm totally
Yes just garlic. Garlic jam, garlic ice cream!! garlic preserves etc!
