Hi Dav
Ooooh thats a question. I would suggest you contact the travel insurance company just to be on the safe side. Lets hope she is otherwise you'll have to pay out again let us know the answer though - could be useful to someone else.
It depends on the policy, but the ones I've had or looked at covered a minor travelling on their own.
Hi hbrac
My daughter was covered to travel independantly whilst on my M&S annual policy but you need to check with the insurer.
Many thanks folks,I've a few weeks to sort it out and will let you know anything which may help in the future.
There have been several instances on this site of people who were going to get insurance nearer the travel date losing everything due to unforeseen circumstances.

I've got an annual family travel insurance policy with Tesco, and it covers all four of us travelling together, or any one of us travelling individually. Might vary from one company to another though, so always best to check.

Channel Islands visitors advised to take out insurance
UK travellers to the Channel Islands are being advised to ensure they have adequate travel insurance from April 1.
The recommendation comes from the Department of Health as the healthcare arrangements for UK visitors to the islands are due to change.
The current agreement, which allows UK travellers to get a limited number of medical treatments in the islands free of charge, ends on March 31.
Anyone travelling to Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, will be required to pay for medical treatment should they become ill or injured there after this date.
Visitors should therefore take out adequate insurance before they travel.
Visitors from the Channel Islands to the UK will also now be liable for charges for medical treatment when visiting the UK, so they should also have health insurance cover.
There were 295,040 visitors to Jersey from the UK and 279,000 visitors to Guernsey in 2007.

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a travel insurance company for us? My mum is 66 years old, I am 22 (will be 23 when we go) All the places where we're looking at are so expensive!
Thanks
DQ x
I am 65yrs in June 2009, my wife is 63yrs.
We are at present insured with the Post Office, this is an annual policy that expires in May 2009, covers Europe only. We are due to travel again in May 2009 to Canaries, the insurance will need to be renewed to cover this trip.
Any suggestions of companies would be most grateful.

Hi dramaqueen and pebble .. have you checked out the list of recommended insurers on page 1 of this topic ?
A bit of a strange question possibly. Does any travel insurance cover you if you have been made redundant? With the current economic climate it came into my mind. We have paid a total of £342 of our hol in July. I can't see anything anywhere on the policy. (columbus)
Thanks for the reply
My mum and I decided to use Go Travel (INVALID URL for my mum and I (mum's 66 and I am 22, amost 23) it was £74.83 and that's for 2 weeks in Cuba. By far the cheapest of all those who we visited.
jaimeC I've just received my insurance docs as I booked my hol last week and i used InsureandGo who I've used for the past few years (fortunatley never had to claim). I was surprised when refreshing my memory reading through the policy document that redundancy is in fact covered as standard by them. I have picked them before on the basis that the price is good and they give a comprehensive list of activities which are covered or not without you having to ring up and ask them.
You are made redundant, as long as you are entitled to
payment under the current redundancy payments law and, at
the time of booking your trip, you had no reason to believe
you would be made redundant.
Thanks SandC I will double check mine tomorrow.
Finally got round to checking and it is there under cancellation! so thats good to know, just in case. You can't be too careful at the mo.
As lots of us have ageing parents with heart problems. How do we go about getting cover if we had to return home. Neither of them are terminal or in hospital. Just looking at if they took ill. Have rang Columbus and Saga and they say if we had to cancel or return home we would not be covered.
I go with these regular, and to be quite honest, they are the best around.
I paid last year for 2 adults for 1 week to the canaries £8.56, plus as we was away my boyfriend needed hospital treatment, i claimed when came home and Pure Insurance paid me back all the money except £50 excess.
If you are wanting annual insurance i would recommend Columbus direct.
