Hi Shirley and everyone, the letter from the CAA arrived today!!!!!!!! i just filled it in them zoomed to the post box......
all you have to do is literally tick 3 boxes and sign it. they just want to know if you received atol confirmation from TR before XL collapse, if you knew you were flying with freedom flights before collapse, and did you receive your booking confirmation from TR before collapse...phew.
fingers crossed
Hi Shirley, the CAA called, they are sending you your assignment letter. Little worrying what would have happened if we hadnt asked, but we did, and they are, so I shouldnt be worrying!
Thanks Steve. I will let you know. All I have to do know is try and remember the answers to the questions they're going to ask
Hope my dad'll receive this letter in the next couple of days. I read in another thread that Johndoe sent his signed letter back to the CAA over 3 weeks ago and has heard nothing since. This is way beyond a joke now
regards..j.d..
Thanks for the update Johndoe. That's at least another month after sending the letter back, for us to add on to the waiting time then If I didn't laugh, I'd cry.
i was advised by this chap on phone to fax it over asap, so i zoomed to my husbands work and faxed it. called friday to make sure it had been received, it had. have now been told that my claim is being handed to the refund authorisation team......they make you feel like it's almost over on the phone, but every day i feel more and more let down.....
I'm sorry for your situation.
Do travel republic do their own package holidays or are they only selling package holidays of the big tour ops.
My dad received his letter this morning but TBH it's a bit confusing. I'm going to pm Steve now to explain.
I am sure Steve has been helpful although as an employee of TR he would have TR interests to consider as a priority, have you considered that too? Just a thought.
After all these threads, it still confusing to many people, and I can see why. You need to read their travel agent website. look on the "why Choose us" very last bullet point in that section.

No wonder travel agents dont stay on here for long and help people when posts like this go up. From what I have read people who are getting help from Steve seem very happy with what he is doing for them.
After all he's doing it for free, its hardly like helping people on holiday truths is part of his job description.
Presumably he's an employee of TR and doesn't actually own the company.
I am sure Steve can speak for himself and will do so when he checks back.
Im not frightening him off. His a big boy.
The letter is a bit confusing as it seems to assume that I want to make a claim against TR, which never really was the case. All I want is my money back in whichever way is the quickest. Did anybody else's letter state that they were to claim against TR. I have Pm'd Steve and now await a reply.
1. Customer booked with us and FF took deposit, or full payment from Travelrepublic as part of the operator, travel agenct direct debit scheme.
2. Customer booked with us, but FF had gone bust, but payment still taken from Travelrepublic in same scheme. Money ended up with administrators. For these, the CAA advised that FF had not been paid, but Travelrepublic could confirm by bank statement that payment had been made. CAA speak to administrators and claim goes ahead in same way as number 1.
3. Customer booked with us, but no payment made to FF, all were refunded.
So all payments accounted for!
A lot can be learnt by companies, by frequesting forums/chat rooms/social netwroking sites, to see what people are saying about them. To that end, I am not discouraged from joining in here, and other places whilst at work. It is a great help to spot things that are not going so well. I have the 'clout' to resolve issues, or to get internal Travelrepublic processes changed to prevent the same issue happening again.
With regards to 'clout', I can tell you more because I can go and check with our MD, if what I am about to post is appropriate for our current situation. I only have to do this rarely, as having worked at Travelrepublic for 5 years, I would hope I have a good idea of what is appropriate.

Finally, cantthinkofusername, we are selling packages, but they are not Travelrepublic packages, rather packages from leading tour operators, on whose behalf, Travelrepublic is acting as an agent!
I'm smiling from ear to ear. My dad got his refund today. A cheque in the post this morning. Hooray! an end to it at last. Thanks for all your help and support Steve. Just want to say that it won't put me off booking with TR again. As imo it's the CAA that's dragged it all out. Good Luck to everyone else who's waiting.
shirley...well done!! thank god, hopefully light at end of tunnel for the rest of us!!
