Hi all,flying to florida in june on vs 027 and flying back on vs016 and know aircraft type is showing as a 747 but was just wondering if there is any likelyhood of it being one of the new aircraft [airbus i believe]

What dates are you flying? The Thursday VS027 are operated by the A333, the others are operated by the 744's.

Both are 744's at the moment in that case. If you were going the day after, you'd have been on an A333 outbound and 744 inbound.

hey, its me again


my family and I fly from Manchester airport to Orlando International on Friday the 20th May, we depart at 13.45 our flight number is vs073. Is thier any way I or you can find out what our plane will be called? Im hoping we are on the harry potter plane, I am aware this plane was called hot lips and the reg is G-VLIP.

G-VLIP (Hot Lips / Harry Potter livery) is operating out of MAN at the moment. That's not to say it will be on Friday, but it's there today and tomorrow.

We are booked in October on the A330 both ways out of MAN and am looking for a seat request in the forward economy cabin. I am wary that there is definitely a row that is hit without a window in this area, someone has noted it could be row 34, i was going for 33 and 34 H-K so am thinking 36/37, anyone know for sure and I can go for 35/36.

Virgin pilots to strike for first time in history

Virgin Atlantic pilots have voted overwhelming in favour of going out on strike for the first time in the airline's history.

Strike dates are due to be announced by the British Airline Pilots Association tomorrow. The union must give the airline two weeks' notice of industrial action so the earliest pilots could walk out would be July 6.

As BALPA represents about 85% of Virgin's 750 pilots, any strike action is likely to seriously disrupt services. A total of 94% took part in the vote, with 97% voting 'yes' to industrial action.

The union called for Virgin chairman Sir Richard Branson to wade into the dispute over pilots' pay, saying it had held off announcing strike dates until tomorrow in the hope that he will intervene.

Pilots have been offered a 4% pay rise this year followed by a 3% rise in 2012 and 2013, which follows a three year pay freeze.

"Pilots at Virgin are saying "enough", said Jim McAuslan, the union's general secretary. "We have absolute resolve to secure a fair settlement. When a group professional people say "enough" someone at the top should sit up and listen.

"We do not want to inconvenience the public and hope that Sir Richard will use some of his undoubted Virgin Flair to settle this.''

Virgin's captains are paid around ï¿¡70,000 a year, while first officers receive ï¿¡50,000 a year.
A spokesman for Virgin Atlantic said the airline was disappointed by the result but that talks would continue to try to find a solution.

"We have made an industry leading offer to BALPA that is double the national average for a UK business," she said.

"We value our pilots enormously and that is why we have offered three guaranteed pay rises in the next two and a half years and a share of company profits.

"We believe that once BALPA communicate this offer to our pilots, industrial action will be averted."

Virgin said it had contingency plans in place if strikes do go ahead. "We will take every step possible to minimise the impact on our customers."

You could always try Virgins V-Flyer website that has a detailed seat plan for all their aircraft including the new A333's.

Hey darren. I edited my original post to say it was row 33 a week or two ago. Someone on another forum had sat in the row behind. Took some digging but got the answer.

Looking at a trip to Barbados with Virgin from Manchester on VS077/VS078 on 10 October for 1 week. What plane usually does this trip? Is it a 747? If so do you know if it is one of Virgin's older planes that get poor reviews? It is 10 years since we flew Virgin Atlantic.

MAN-BGI-MAN (VS077/8) are operated by a Boeing 747-400. It is in the MAN/LGW suite rather than the LHR. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).
