sharon1411,

The first of Virgins new A330's are due to enter service in April. I believe the first one (Beauty Queen / G-VSXY) had it's interior finished and was due to be ferried to Gatwick on 14th March for final preperation for entering service, the second on 26th March (Mademoiselle Rouge / G-VKSS). One is due to be based at MAN from April, the second to operate from MAN through April then down to LGW and based from May. VS015/28 are still showing as operated by the regular Boeing 747-400's though.

Hi Darren

Last couple of Sundays coming home from work in the morning there has been a Virgin Atlantic Jumbo at Glasgow, not a common site, do you know where it comes in from and departs to? is this now a regular route?

Thanks

Kiltman HT Mod,

That'll be the Mickey Mouse flight to Orlando. Virgin have 2 new Airbus A330-300's in service now so it's freed up a 747-400 for GLA. It operates on a Saturday (VS071/2) to Orlando International and lands back in GLA about 0800 Sunday. It's operating weekly for the summer as far as I know.

A colleague is on VS003 from LHR to JFK on Monday 2nd May.

Does Darren, or anyone else, know what type of plane he will be on and the reg number if available yet?

Thanks
Reply
roadrunner,

LHR-JFK (VS003) is operated by an Airbus A340-600. I'll not know the registration until the day before but it makes little difference as they all offer the same inside.

Anyone know what happened with VS074 today??
It was scheduled to arrive in MAN at 09:35 today but didnt arrive until 14:15
When I looked on the VS app it said it was travelling MCO - YGX - MAN
Why did it stop in Newfoundland? Was it an emergency??

Helovamish,

Welcome onboard :tup
MAN-MCO (VS073) are operated by a Boeing 747-400. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). Aircraft are rotated regularly so it's impossible to say this far out which one will be operating out of MAN next week. G-VGAL is operating ex-MAN at the moment. If you ask again next Thusday, I'll let you know which is in MAN. G-VLIP (Harry Potter) is in LGW at the moment.

Looking at booking Upper Class in Virgin from Gatwick to Havana in December. Read a lot of negative comments on the service - any thoughts? What plane would we likely to be on?

Thanks

Please quote flight numbers when requesting aircraft information as there are often several flights. This ensures we get the correct information for you. LGW-HAV (VS063) are operated by a Boeing 747-400 in the LGW/MAN suite. Upper Class (more business plus) is personal preference really and nice from what I've been told.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes the flight numbers are VS063 out and VS064. It is a lot of money and cannot make up my mind where to go Premium Econ, which is cheaper or Upper.

Katfras,

I would think about if you're just after extra room, or want all the extras that come with upper. If you want to be pampered, go for upper. If you just want to stretch your legs out a bit, go for premium economy. It's all personal preference though. Personally, premium economy in the upper deck is nice and unless I won the lottery so money was no object, I wouldn't bother with upper as I wouldn't use most of what is on offer. But that's just me!

Personally, my opinion would be if you can afford it, book upper. Once you've travelled in upper class it is very difficult to give up. Far better than other airlines business class. No
Contest. Premium isn't really upto much on the aircraft that fly out of LGW. Any other airlines business class/premium class i agree with dazbo to an extent but upper is worth every penny. Especially from Gatwick as there is only 14 seats so very cosy and intimate and as it's a holiday destination a very partylike cabin to be in.

Okay, feel a bit better about it now. Do you have a plan of the cabin and in your opinion which would be the best seats for me and my husband?

Thanks once again for your help.
