hi thanks for the reply the problem is the virgin atlantic site lists the dates it is going to be flying from GLA to MCO for 2011 and they say they will only be flying during the school hols up to the end of aug and the in oct as has been the case for the last year or 2 unlike flights from Manchester that fly all year round.

Glasgow is a seasonal flight operation, not year round.

A few years ago it only ran as you mention for a short period that linked to the main Scottish holiday dates. Gradually more weekly departure dates were added.

For 2011 the Virgin Holidays brochure shows VS071/072 operating a full April to October summer season (varies between Sat and Sun flights)

Hi Guys

Does anyone know when i will be able to book seat numbers on Virgin Atlantic. ( i have booked my holiday through thomas cook signature)

I fly on 24th Nov Manchester to Orlando,

Thanks

For this November you will have had that option for some time.

You need your flight locator reference (often 6 letters/digits - i.e. HLD3TX) - then go on to "Manage my Flight" on the Virgin Atlantic web site.

D3ANO,

The aircraft operating the VS005 on a Tuesday morning normally comes in from Johannesburg (VS601/2).

I booked a return Virgin flight Havana/London/Havana on a business trip and the confirmation email contained a 'Small Print' section which indicated I could get a refund for an $150 penalty on the return leg - the wording that the refund was available "after departure" was clearly under the return leg details, which indicated that that leg was refundable

But when I tried to get a part refund for the return, I was told by a supervisor that the ticket was non refundable. She also didn't offer an Air Passenger Duty refund

I wrote in and got the same response in writing, so I took Virgin to the small claims court. Initially they defended it, then offered a refund of the duty element, then finally backed down just before the case and offered the refund in full

There are two issues - first Virgin and other airlines habitually don't offer duty refunds, as they should for cancelled tickets, as they don't pay the duty on to the government for non-fliers. Some airline charges an admin. fee for the refund - there's nothing on the Virgin website about any admin. fee nor, indeed, any indication that the Duty is refundable - ie they pocket the money and make more out of you if you don't fly than if you do!

Second, the wording of Virgin's restricted ticket class is obviously ambiguous and I don't think their no-refund policy would stand up in court, which is why they backed down in my case

People should claim if they have cancelled a restricted ticket - many other airlines have restricted classes which do offer refunds for penalties, so this is not out of line

If they fail to refund, it's a very easy procedure to take them to the Small Claims Court - forms are available online and it takes five minutes, which is worth it if the ticket portion and duty are worth several hundred pounds

I got nearly £500 back - you can too!

Hello,

Is anyone able to help me please? Just wondered which of the Virgin A346's aircraft will be doing the flight LHR-JFK VS009 tomorrow (Tuesday 26/10/10) at 17.15? Any ideas on where it will come in from, so we can watch for delays?
Thankyou very much, much appreciated.

Marmosetti,

It makes little difference which registration it is as they're all the same inside. It normally comes in from Los Angeles (VS008), G-VWEB operated today.

Anyone know why the 13hr delay on VS78 from Barbados today?? Was this due to Hurricane Thomas???
Reply
Yes, its all a bit of a mess at the moment. Saturdays Barbados diverted into Antigua due to Tomas this is the knock on delay, along with the delayed St Lucia flight, due in tomorrow.

Thank you same problems with the telephone/internet been trying to reach someone in Barbados for 2days.
