We are off to Orlando in 6 weeks - we have been told by Virgin that they do not currently have 4 seats together for us but they will release more closer to the date. We cannot prebook our seats until we get our tickets from the travel agent (which they say we will get 5-7 days prior) - they have told us we will be fine to check in online the day before travelling :O Has anyone experienced this before and what are the chances of us getting 4 seats together as I do not want to be seperated from the children and I am starting to get worried about it :O

missadi,

What flight are you on and from where? You'll find aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide including links to V-Flyer and seating plans. I'm not aware of any configuration changes to the LGW/MAN suite aircraft unless the aircraft used on the day is being assigned differently? Virgin have new aircraft on order, but they aren't due for a while yet.

missadi,

First I've heard of it on the LGW/MAN suite aircraft and there's not been any changes to online seat plans or talk of it if they have. I wouldn't have thought there's be enough room for all the upper seats on the top deck unless they're reducing the number and increasing the number of premium seats. If you want premium seats, does it matter where they are? You'll have the same seat, just in a different part of the aircraft. The LHR aircraft have Y+ on the main deck and upper class fromrthe nose to the L2/R2 door and the whole upper deck.

The LGW/MAN suite aircraft are as follows as far as I know:

A; G-VGAL/LIP/ROS/ROY: 14J/58W/379Y, Upper Class is from the nose until doors L1/R1, Premium Economy for only two rows behind Upper Class plus the entire upper deck. Economy from behind Premium to the back. The Premium seats were in the process of being updates from the old red ones to leather.

B; G-VAST/TOP/XLG: 14J/58W/380Y, Upper Class is from the nose until doors L1/R1, Premium Economy for only two rows behind Upper Class plus the entire upper deck. Economy from behind Premium to the back (same as other LGW-based, however the Y config is slightly different).

I think the confusion may be that G-VBIG, an LHR suite aircraft is operating out of LGW through the winter season. I susepect that aircraft is assigned to your flight and why there's no Premium Economy seats upstairs. If you go off the LHR suite seating plan, that should clear things up for you.

Hi Catherineevans39,

You have my sympathies.....

.....I'm in a very similar position to yourself. I'm flying to Miami with Virgin in a few weeks and am NOT able to pre-select our seats (we would like 6 together, or two lots of 3) as we've booked through a travel agent, who haven't issued the tickets yet. I rang Virgin and they said that they haven't that many left together and we'll have to wait until Online Check-in is open, the day before. I was assured by whoever I spoke to at Virgin that they do not split families up, but I'm not sure that's true!

It's not so bad for me as my children are 13 and 15, but I still don't want either of them to have to sit by themselves, particularly my daughter who is a very nervous flyer.

It's very frustrating and annoying but there's nothing we can do. :banghead:

What is the difference or benefits to checking in online as opposed to checking in on the day in person? thanks 31 days to go :cheers

Main advantage is that you should not have to stand in line for check in procedure which can be lengthy on occassions - you go to fast bag drop off.

Check the Virgin Atlantic web site with the following link...https://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/us/manageyourflights/diycheckin/index.jsp

Hi

Can anyone clear this one up fo me. I'm posting here and in tour operators as we've bppked a package wth virgin holidays to florida using virgin atlantic.

So we booked mid May 2009 for departure 16 October 2010, flying economy both ways.

Back when we booked the allowance was 2 pieces at 23kg each per passenger. So we'd be allowe3d 92 kilos allowance over 4 bags for 2 of us. Not that we're planning on using all of it.

Now the policy has changed and economy only get 1 piece if booked after 25th November.

Confusion starts here.

Been booked half a year by November, already thinking what presents i can bring home. Logged onto 'manage my booking' onloy 1 piece of luggage allowed.

Spoke to travel agent (Hays) who was told 1 peice by one adviser in the overseas contact centre but she phoned back a couple of weeks later when we wanted to add on extra bags to be told no need already allowed 2. But Virgin website still says 1.

Got a print off from a [age Virgin Holidays had on their website early december which has now disappeared which clearly shows we have 2 pieces also.

Who or what is right?

Cheers

we go on the 2nd April and we are allowed 2 x 23 kilos each as we booked before Nov 09. The allowance is wasted on us we are 5 passengers taking 4 bags. Dont own enough clothes to fill the baggage lol 24 days to go :cheers
