Hiya

Has anyone been married in or going to be getting married at the Nissi Beach ? We are visiting Cyprus next week to choose a venue but at the moment this is the clear favourite.

Also have you organised things yourself or used a wedding package company ? Still cant decide what to do...

Thanks

Hi Sarah Jane77uk

I was at the Nissi playing at a wedding last week & the manager was brilliant not only did he attend the ceremony but he got people organised & ushered guests to there places & kept it ticking over on time. Not many managers do this as I have found & it was a nice touch

hi Sarah Jane,

we are getting married at the nissi beach this august. we have booked through Thomas Cook. the photographer, menu's etc will all be organised once we get there. i have arranged my own sillk flowers to take there though. evrything else is sorted by Marios (weddings manager) or his team.

on a slightly different subject, can any body tell me how far away the Olympic Lagoon Hotel is away from the Nissi Beach hotel, or where we could find a map with the hotels listed please?

Hi Sarah Jane

Nissi Beach is one of my favorite locations for weddings, I have coordinated over 350 wedding there!!

I would recommend using a wedding planner though, my reason for saying this is:
1. They will make sure you have all the necessary documentation before you arrive in resort
2. make appointments for you and accompany you to the town hall for your special license.
3. You are shown from an album exactly what your getting, in terms of style and quality
4. They have telephone numbers of all their suppliers so if something isn't right or hasn't turned up - they can get it sorted out immediately
5. They calm you down!!!!!!!!!!! They take all the pressure from you, leaving you to relax and enjoy your day
6. They are always on the other end of the phone if needed

Yes Nissi Beach do have their own wedding team, Chris and Marios are fantastic, but unfortunately they are only with you from the beginning of the ceremony until 5 minutes after - They have 3 weddings a day and need to make sure that the next wedding is as perfect as yours. They will however make you feel like your the only wedding guests in the hotel - which I find very personal.

If a wedding planner isn't there to direct you, it leaves you feeling unsure, frustrated, irritable and very HOT!!

Please let me know if I can answer any of your questions or show you pictures of your chosen/thinking of venues.

All the best

Kerry
Ps. The fresh flowers over here are really lovely, Roses especially hold the heat and you can choose your own style if you wish - bring pictures with you if you have any!

Dear All

Just reading through all this I arranged my own wedding in Paralimni Town Hall albeit 10 years ago now but not that hard to sort out. I contacted the Cypriot Embassy and asked them to send me all the details on what I required before I left the UK. Sworn AD from both myself and my Husband that we were free to marry the cost of this is around £5 each, if you know a decent secretary to type it up for you then great but again would not cost that much.
Once in Cyprus we went to the town hall registered that we wanted to Marry under a special licence as normally you need to be there approx 15 days before you can get married this may have changed now but at the time I paid 115CYP no doubt this would have increased. When the date is sorted you are then free to sort out reception/wedding cars etc. For us we had a traditional meze in a typical cypriot restaurant in Paralimni our Mercedes was white decked in the usual ribbons which collected my Father and I took us to Paralimni town hall waited then drove my Husband and I all around the town tooting the horn like mad (normal practice) whilst everyone who was around clapped and waved as we passed. Photos were taken at the foot of Saint Elias Church gardens and down by Cape Greko.
If you are not brave enough to book yourself then use the a co-ordinator but it is really not that hard, I also had fresh flowers from the Florist on Protaras Road Rosita's I think is the name still there and not that expensive. The cake a was from the huge bakery just the other side of Dyrenia again I arranged this, a large tier of profitor roles no where near the price of the UK.
I can only say you will not regre choosing Cyprus to get married whatever way you do it. Good Luck

Hi Rocket,

Things have change a little here, price of the special license is now 165 cyp and an extra 100 cyp (Protaras/Paralimni) if you choose to have the ceremony in your hotel/hotel grounds, 75 cyp for Ayia Napa. :x

The flower shop Rosita's has gone up considerably, but you can get cheaper from the villages and are very nice if not better. :D

The Affidavits have also gone up - I expect this is due to so many people wanting to marry abroad!!! My last weding couple paid 150 Uk sterling for theirs, although I have know some to pay only 25 UK sterling. You can brave it and have them done here, this would cost 4 cyp each for the stamps and the taxi fare to the court in Paralimni (approx 15 cyp).

Have you been back to Cyprus since??

I too had been annoyed in seeing the sunbeds right in front of the outdoor wedding area of the Capo bay, do you know if they will be removed soon-my wedding is on june 29th. On the subject of the outdoor venue can music be played for walking down the aisle etc if i take my own CD'S?
I am still not decided on whethere to have a sit down meal or BBQ afterwards, has anyone any comments on the food at Capo Bay?
Finally i will be doing my own make-up any suggestions for foundations/bases that work well in the heat would be welcomed.

Yes the beds will be moved, they are only there for the out of season guests - whilst the weddings are not taking place. Dont worry, it will all be taken care of.

Music can be played at the outdoor venue and/or you are welcome to take your own if you wish.

The food at Capo bay is fantastic, whichever you decide, you will be very pleased with.

Wedding make-up by Haircraft (Helen) is very cheap 20cyp and 25/30cyp for hair, she has been doing wedding hair and make-up for over 17 years and is used by many of the tour operators too.

She is only doors away from Capo Bay, and will either come to your room or pick you up and take you to the salon.

So why not be pampered on your wedding day??

If you dont fancy that, try talking to a make-up artist on a boots counter etc, they will be able to give you the best advice.

Hi Kerry
Yes we have been back every year since and am now having a villa built in Pernera, a couple of minutes walk from the beach.
Normally stay in the Toxotis (could not get booked in this year) but are trying the ketsios this year in May for 1 week which seems to be ok looking at feedback on it.
Intend to re-locate in about 2 - 3 years time for good.
Are you living in Cyprus as a wedding co-ordinator?

Hi Kerry, i am getting married on 09 May 2007 in the Grecian Sands Hotel. I think i have all documentation i need but would just like to double check that all you need to bring over is Passports, Birth Certificates and Affidavit's ?
What would be the best time to get married we were thinking about 2 or 3 pm ? We want to get sunset pictures, does the time you get married affect this at all and lastly can music be played outdoor for walking down the aisle in the Grecian Sands ?

Sorry for all the questions but am getting slightly nervous now!

Hi all,

Vicky,

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding, the documentation you need is:

Passports - Full 10 year British passport
Birth Certificate - Originals are required
Statutory Declarations - (Also known as Affidavit) These must be stamped by a notary stating your single status. The Affidavit must be typed, dated and stamped by a registered solicitor. The stamp must include the word "Solicitor" or accompanied by a business card. These documents will be kept by the Town Hall.

Decree Absolute - If Applicable
Death Certificate - If Applicable
Adoption Certificate - If Applicable
Change of Name Documents - If Applicable

If you are a resident of Scotland or Wales, this Statutory Declaration will be replaced with a form called a Certificate of no impediment which is available from your local registry office.

If from Ireland, you will need a "Nula Osta", this is also a Freedom to marry certificate and can be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The best time to get married is around 4pm. Regardless of the time, Cyprus is hot!! Getting married later on in the day gives you more time to get ready and most of the sunbathers, will be going back to their rooms the get changed for the evening, so hardly any watchers!!! Plus the staff have more time to give, rather than running around organising the next wedding.

Sunset photos will be taken around 6.45/7pm. Depending on how long the photographer takes, some take an hour, some take 2, he/she will come back to do these. Do you know who your having?? Which wedding company are you using?? I might be able to tell you roughly how long things will take.

With regards to music, you can have what ever you choose, many have a tune to walk down the aisle to and another for signing the wedding certificate.

Dont worry about a thing, everything will be perfect. If I can help further just let me know.

Rocket1971,

Sounds lovely, I love Penera. I live in Kokkines, its on the hill overlooking Ayia Napa, I've been living in Cyprus for 6 years now and haven't looked back since - I've worked for several tour companies doing weddings and now set up my own wedding company, its a job I adore, every wedding is different - I'm living the life so to speak!!

Good luck with your move, I'm sure you will be very happy.

Hi , we are also looking at Nissi Beach for Aug 2008 . Couple of questions if you could help as it sounds like you know most things about this ?

We are looking for a fairly relaxed affair , girlfriend wants the proper white wedding ceremony etc , but after we just want a few photos and then a bar for an hour or so and then later on us and any guests will probably just book a table at a restaurant or something ? Would Nissi beach be ok about this ? we dont actually want a reception as such .

We have always travelled with Thomson and are looking to them also to do this for us , do you have any experience of how good Thomson are with regard organising weddings ? or can you recommend anyone else ?

Also i know Aug will be busy (and hot) when do you recommend we look at booking this , we are working on 12months prior , is that about right ?

Many thanks for your help

Hi Alorko

we are getting married at Nissi Beach on 9 August, and we booked it as soon as the holidays were available last year, which was around this time of year. it was definitely April when we booked. you could email the wedding co-ordinator at the hotel, his email is on the website, and ask about the reception etc. i'm sure they would be fine about you not having the reception there, as they allow non residents to marry at the hotel, it just costs a bit more than people who are staying there. We have booked our holiday and wedding through Thomas Cook.

WOuld anyone be able to reccomend a local florist? i'm thinking about taking silk flowers as the fresh ones seem so expensive, but if any one were able to recommend a local florist i could try to contact, i'd appreciate it.

thanks
