Hi Rach

Don't book anything via a tour operator, either do it yourself or use one of the co-ordinators Kerry or Jenny always get lots of praise. I think you could probably book the ceremony at the hotel right now...email them direct to ask. I organised everything on my own and it is really simple:

(they should be there somewhere!)

I think all of the hotels you mention get excellent reviews. I got married in the Aeneas in May and had a fantastic time. There were 31 of us and it was perfect (my review is a few pages back now).

Let us know how you get on..........

Hi Rach,

Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage!

You can certainly book for 2009 but cannot get confirmation until September time (2007). This just means your date and time is available but tthe marriage officer (Registrar) needs to finish the bookings for this year and next, but will make a note of your date to add to their 2009 diary and then confirm once the season is over.

Adams beach, Aeneas and Grecian Bay are all lovely, I have pictures of each wedding venue, PM me for my email address if you'd like to see them.

I have to agree with Lillian, tour operators don't give you the personal touch that independent wedding companies do, but its your choice, I'm sure there are many reviews on Thomson holidays along with some others on this forum.

You can have a blessing on your return to the UK after having your wedding ceremony in a hotel, you could even opt to have your blessing here!

Good luck

Dear Lillian,

Thanks for your reply. Do you know roughly how much the wedding planners charge we will probably be having 25-30 guests? I will read your previous messages to see how you organised your wedding which sounded great. I will probably be asking you for more advice shortly?

Thanks again,

Hi Rach

Ask me anything and I'll help as much as I can, like I say I found it all really easy and I enjoyed doing it all but I know some people would rather just pay someone to do it all for them as they can't be bothered to do it themselves.

The user Wedco on here is Kerry the wedding planner for Aisle of Love she will be able to let you know her costs for planning...I have read nothing but great reviews for Kerry

Hi there,

does anyone know where the best place to go after our wedding for a little reception?? We are getting married in Cavo Maris hotel in Protaras, and we now have a few more guests coming out with us, so we were thinking about finding somewhere to have a meal etc.

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere maybe?

Hi,

Cavo Maris do a lovely reception for wedding guests. Other places you could try are:

Secret Garden
The Corner restaurant
Divas
Olympus Restaurant
Oscars Restaurant

Good Luck

Thank you! I'll be looking into them when I go out.

Another question, about the affidavit - if I'm getting married on 14th Sept, when would the affidavit need to be dated - can I get it done now??

Hi

Yes you can obtian these documents now:

A sworn affidavit must be signed and stamped by a "Notary Public" indicating you are single and free to be married. Valid for 3-6 months unless indicated otherwise. Please be sure that the document is on headed company paper with the word Solicitor or Notary Public and is stamped with the company stamp which has this word solicitor on it or else accompanied with a business card.

Scottish and Welsh can also have the 'Certificate of No Impediment from the District Registrar'

Irish passport holders need a "Nula Osta" this is also a Freedom to Marry certificate from the government obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ireland and is valid for 120 days from the date of issue.

Hope this helps

Hiya, i'm getting married in Cyprus and am a bit concerned about how to transport my wedding dress over.

I would be really grateful if anyone could let me know what they did with thier dress on the plane.

Thanks

Hi

I'm getting married in September in Cyprus, and the shop that i bought my dress from can pack my dress in a small suitcase big enough to take on as hand luggage, so it can stay with me.

The airline I'm going with will not allow me to hang the dress up on the plane, so this will be my only option.

Check your airline, see what their policy is. I'm with Monarch.

Has anybody got married at the Cavo Maris Hotel in Protaras, or been to a wedding there???

That's where I'm getting married, and would love to know more about how the hotel holds their weddings.

Thanks

Congrats dear! Cavo Maris Hotel in Protaras is a great place to marry the one you love. My cousin got married there last year, and I must admit that her wedding and reception were truly amazing. The beautiful seafront location was awesome, and the services were great.

hi all,
we got married on july 10th at the capo bay, protaras. we used aphrodite weddings who were superb.the wedding was at 2pm and it was very hot, i didn't have a dress designed for destination weddings and i paid the price. but we all felt and looked fab! the outdoor gazebo( wedding ceremony) is breathtaking and so different. it is away from the main area of the hotel but you do come down some steps in front of the pool. i am pretty shy and was nervous about this but it was fine and i felt really special. after the ceremony we walked down for some pictures along the sea front, advise your guests to wear sun factor for this bit and then the guests went back for a champagne reception (or so i thought as they forgot it!) and we had some extra photos with just the two of us.
when we arrived back we were greeted by our guests and we cut the cake. the pavillion(wedding reception) is amazing , it it truly spectacular. i could not have wished for a more beautiful location. it is wooden and private, with a lovely breeze coming in from the sea. it is surrounded by water with the most beautiful koi carp fish swimming.
we opted for the carvery meal which was devoured by all. we had zoltan playing violin while we had our meal and then we had a little lul until the dj arrived, we just mingled and digested the lovely meal. chris the dj started at about half six but he was really annoyed because we had opted for sunset photos which meant the bride and groom left for an hour or more at 7.15. he said he's sick of it as it ruins his flow( fair point!).
so we left for the photos but left strict instuctions with bridal party to keep on the dance floor to keep the party going and as an extra surprise we had booked the charachaturist for the night. which everyone was delighted with, he really was the one thing i'm so glad i booked, he was grumpy but my god he was good and everyone got a little memento to take home.
now with regards to the sunset photos, i'm a little unsure if they are worth it. the photos are stunning, and backdrop is beautiful(even though we both look tired and hot). the problem is its a 15 min drive away in the back of a little pick up and then you have to walk up a steep rocky incline as no cars can go right up. now i swear i nearly died, they never warned me.make sure you change your shoes and bring a little bit of make up to touch up when up there. i was pretty worried that we had been away from guests too long but thank god they were all around the charachturist laughing away and some were dancing. we had our first dance- keith urbans, making memories of us, which the dj burned cause he had not heard it before and then we had a little dance and then the cypriot dancers came along and did their show and got everyone up doing various dances. after that we danced til 11pm and then went to the pool bar for a late drink and then inside for one and then we were pretty much told that the night was over( as we poped a cork they turned out the light!). a few straglers then decided they wanted a mc donalds so i went up took off the dress and tiara and caught last orders at mc donalds which i have to say was the nicest burger i've ever had and the perfect end to the day.
all in all i was delighted with the day. july is hot so be aware and prepared, its hard with the dress. i wasn't impressed with the hair dresser but each to their own and i wish i had done my own make up, didnt feel like myself. i could actually have got my hair done at the hotel but i didn't know that. it would have been much easier.but the location is second to none, the photos are amazing and your guests will love it. we had a free bar for guests too which we could not have done with a wedding at home. we have a dvd which is so good to have and funny to look at also i paid for all the negatives which you will want and i have them all on disk and a nice album with 36 photos. cyprus and protaras itself is really nice and we plan on going back for two weeks in a cooler month to see all its sights. hope this review helps some of you as i know how hard it is, happy planning!

Dear Fantazmic :D

Thankyou so much for your post, i am getting married at the capo bay in 6 weeks time and using jenny at aphrodite so it was really good to read your post, you sound like you had a wonderful day and night. Could you answer me a few questions, how many was in your party? did you book the charachturist when you arrived as i haven't heard of him? and we are thinking of the carvary, was it nice and did you get enough? also the free bar, was it expensive? sorry to ask you so much but its so good to hear from someone who has been there and done it, it's so hard not to worry being so far away and not having seen anything! thanks so much

mandy :D

hi again,
we had 25 guests in total. the carvery was hugh, too big for us. they serve the salads first, which you go up yourself for. some people thought it was the meal and got a shock when they saw all the meats laid out next. the deserts were cute too.
have someone designated to cut your cake as they don't do it for you and we ended up with loads of cake left over. we had two layers of cake. one with the madeira type filling and one chocolate sponge( my favorite).
i had wanted a champagne reception( sparkling wine and jugs of orange juice) for my guests while they waited for us to come back from photos but there was a wire crossed somewhere and it was not laid on. i saw it at another function and it looked lovely.
the pavilion has its own cute little bar with staff and you can go up to the barman at any time to get the subtotal bill or ask him to let you know when it reaches a certain limit. we asked them to keep taking regular rounds of drinks orders which worked really well.i think our drinks bill came in at 480CY£ which we were happy with. Then at the pool bar people were falling over themselves to buy us back a drink!
be aware that the girls from aphrodite leave after the cake is cut so it can be a bit strange knowing what order to do things. i would suggest a little plan with your parents and bridal party to keep things running smoothly so that everybody isn't looking at you to see whats next. maybe plan when to do your speeches, have someone picked to ask the bar staff to turn down the music at a certain time and have the toast round ordered. encourage family to go back up for seconds at the meal as other guests will then follow.
the characturist was not on my list either. it is on the new brochure. i ordered him when i got there as i knew he would go down well. i cancelled the horse and carriage and picked him instead. it is something so different and unique and everyone got something to take home.he doesn't talk much, he sits in the corner and everyone takes turns to sit for him during the night while everyone else is up dancing. he puts couples on one page as well. don't think the dj likes him too much as he steals he thunder. hope all this helps.
how many guests will you have mandy, did you pick a package or use the pick and tick list? will you be staying at the hotel?
