Would not visit Limassol again not much to do, loads of bars and not many nice beaches

Limassol is not my cup of tea at all. I prefer resorts where you can go for a pleasant stroll in the evening without having to walk along a very busy main road.
There is very little to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
The beaches are not up to much at all.

Beaches were lovely and clean. Not what I would call a family resort, as in apart from the beach or swimming pool not much for kids to do. Has a water park but we didnt go because the receptionist from our hotel rang up for us to see how much it was and the opening times were told it was 7 pounds for adults 3.50 for children, when we got there we were asked for 14 pounds each and 7 for kids when we said that the receptionist had just phoned and got the prices we were told that if we lived there it would have been that price but as we were tourists it would be 14 pounds. We didnt go. Lovely Beaches up Ladys mile which was about 15 mins from our hotel by car. A lot of building work going on all over the place didnt bother us though lots and lots of Bars and places to eat you can eat cheap or not, never had a bad meal, good value and lots of it. Ideal base if wanting to tour around Cyprus, as very Central to everything

Not much to do.Time elevator is brilliant worth a visit.
Shops close early and some days open only in mornings.Went on a Friday night because I read they were open late and they weren't.
Fassouri waterpark good.Much to our disappointment other waterpark closed and the big Luna Park so this made the resort less appealing, apartments springing up everywhere but not much for the tourist to see and do.
Beaches are not the best on the Island unless you go to Lady's mile beach which you have to hire a car or get a bus.
A must is to hire a car and have a drive about as Cyprus is a fantastic island.

Limassol was a good place and would recommend it,plenty of places to eat and drink and everyone we met was very friendly. Watch out for the pedestrian crossings though they are there for you to cross but thee rules seem to be that cars dont have to stop if they dont want to esp at night!!

The only downside of the resort is that their is the main road running through the tourist result, even using the pedestrian traffic lights puts your life in peril, the road is used by most bikers and little boys with big exhausts as a drag strip, this mainly happens in the evenings.
We did'nt see any accidents but caution is a must.
Loads of tacky shops to buy a bundle of junk in but its a tourist area and as long as we buy the rubbish, they'll sell it.
As you walk up and down the streets, you cannot go past a single Bar or Restraunt without being asked in and offered a free bottle of wine with your meal or 2nd drink free etc, this does get tiring after 50 yards and after 200 yards your patience can wear thin.
One bar (Surfers) even had english guys outside and they followed us repeatedly asking for us to enter the premises, a simple no thank you would not surfice, in the end we walked up the other side of the street to avoid this bar and its staff.
I make it sound as I did not enjoy this resort, but I love Limassol and keep on returning, I am pointing to the negative sides so you can be warned what is to be expected.

Limassol is a large bustling city. The shopping was great, but not too many barging to be found.
Wasnt too impressed with the busy roads. If you have small children, be very careful as the people out there driving need lessons. I dont think I saw a car that didnt have a dent in it. They ignored traffic lights and pedestrian crossings, so it was a case of taking your chances when crossing the roads.
We went to Fasouri waterpark, a good place to go especially with kids (of all ages). Unfortunaltey you cant take in any food or drink into the place and it is expensive in there. I heard that they even search your bags sometimes before you get in there and make you dump any food or drink you may have, lucky enough it didnt happen to us.
Beach........ what beach. Well about 30 foot of black sand. No thanks. Too many people crammed onto it and they were all covered in the black stuff. Stay round the pool, is my advise.

Well what can I say, an awful place really.
When they built a hotel - which they were doing in the hundreds - where was the extra rubble put? You guessed it on the beach.
There were numerous complexs being built, this town is going to be packed when they are full of tourists next year.
They were obviously trying to improve the walkway along the beach front when we were there but then all you had to look at were the decrepid hotels behind you. The main street was quite busy and unfortunatley was lit up like Blackpool - not necessary as the restaurants were really appealing and didn't need it.
The souvenir shops were all tacky and sold exactly the same things. Very worthwhile to hire a car and get out of the place.

The resort is very clean and tidy with very good standards of hygiene. Entertainment in the resort is very good with plenty of bars clubs and resteraunts. The beach was a little disapointing as the sand is a grey colour but we were pleased to see that it was very clean and safe. We would strongly recomend the resort to others and we are returning in may 06 for our wedding which is taking place in st barnabas church limassol
