Having stayed both ends of the island, Paphos (Downtown) is very much more sedate and slower paced. Meals and drinks are cheaper but still plenty of choice for a family holiday.
The harbour area (main Paphos) has some good shops, including Debenhams! Head up off the seafront where you will find the tourist market, but also some more quality shops (and some bargain shopping!) Calling in at 'Tea For Two' on the main street (also one at Paphos Downtown) give a fantastic panoramic view down to the sea and not too badly priced.
If you can, hire a 4X4 to get around, you will see much more of the 'real' Cyprus.

location was just right for us, wasnt to far from the actual pubs and clubs if you wanted to large it up,however if you wanted to stay and have a nice quiet evening there was a good choice of bars and resturants.
I wouldn go back to the hotel nor would I go back to paphos lovely but locals were rude, hardly any nice beaches Potaras is nice though would definatley go back there....

Ohhh i love Paphos!!
If your young go to this place theres a hole street full of clubs that are open til like 5 in the morning!!
When i went the alcohol was sooo cheap but i think its changed now!But id still go back! Restaurants are lovely. Theres a some british bars that are great for kareoke and if you got younger kids beacause the first time i went i was only 13 and i loved that bar! MAde me feel more comfortable! Some pervy men about but if your with a mate or your mum its ok, they only look wouldnt touch lol.
Beaches are beautiful! if you rent out a car go to coral bay its lushhhh!! Warm sea water! Andthe beaches in paphos are nice! get a snorcal and goggles the fish are amazing!
Shops are great! Get cheap bags anywhere! You must haggle! dont pay the price the shops owner wants!!
Theres a bit by the sea where all the boats come in, im not sure what its called but theres really nice sea food restaurants there, and also you can fly to egypt for the day that costs £100.
I could write about this place all day but im at school n gotta do work lol! Have fun if you go! and kiss the floor for me lool! xx

Just on the Tomb of the Kings Road there are many excellent places to eat. We did venture to Fat Mamas (not too big a queue). Very good provided you like lots to eat. Our favourite restaurant was Raffles - John the waiter is very friendly and the food is varied and excellent. I recommend the Sea Bream if you like fish.
We wouldn't recomment the Harbour area. The restaurants are more expensive, don't try particularly hard and it is a bit like any other touristy area abroad.
We booked Wave Dancer for the Cyprus Night. It is quite expensive at £25 per person and the boat only travels for 10 mins before mooring for the meal and dancing. The food is luke warm and the aroma of sewerage was a bit off-putting. The atomosphere
& greek dancing were good though.
It was very hot while were were there but I would recommend the trip to Nicosia (interesting to see the divide from the 11th floor of Debenhams). We also took the jeep safari to Akamas. This was absolutely brilliant and a great way to see real Cypriot life rather than the tourist areas.
We took a coach trip into the Troodos mountains and to Kykos Monastry. The monastry is beautiful but the journey is very steep with hairpin bends & gets a bit monotonous. Make sure you take trousers/long skirt and a shirt to go into the monastry.
Beware Timeshare companies. They collar you with scratchcards and are very difficult to shake off.

Fat Mamas restaraunt is totally reccomended. Pleanty of bars to enjoy and bar street is only a few minutes away by taxi.
The beach is not very big but a small taxi ride or walk will take you to a bigger beach with plenty of water sports to enjoy.

Paphos, Cyprus i could definately reccommend. It has everything you need for a holiday. Bar Street for a lively night out or down at the Harbour for a enjoyable but quiet night.
The only downfall we had of Paphos are that the drivers over there do not care about you. You are invisible to them!!! We reccomend either a quad or a buggy which are mint fun, but we would certainly not reccommend a car to get round unless you plan to drive over the island.

The hotel we stayed at was around 3 km out of the town and we visited Paphos twice. The resort was OK but not very big. Have a look around the castle which was nice but all in all not a lot else.

Paphos is full of restaurents and night clubs, ideal for families, couples, or teenagers. Lots of water sports.

As we didn't leave the hotel very oftern, due to the kids loving the activities during the day & night time entertainment, I can't comment. Apart from the lack of beach & supposed activities.

Cyprus is brilliant and Pathos is a great resort a lot to do and see and enough different restaurants to suit everyone. If you want a late night bars are busy and there is plenty of entertainment.
