This was my 6th visit to Paphos in 10 years. This one being a short 5 day trip for a friends wedding. It will be my last visit to the island.
The first impression is the airport taxi. £30 for a 16km mad ride in a 20 year old dirty merc taxi. Driver looked at me like dirt when I asked for change!
On the whole prices have rocketed in the past couple of years- no wonder the place is half empty and officially 60% down on previous years. Most establishments use imported labour from Russia, Poland and the Balkans - who apart from our hotel (the Roman) are in need of some serious costomer relations training.
On numorous occasions I was given useless old greek coins in my change that look like the cyprus coinage.
The place is generally shabby with the exception of some of the 5* hotels - the pavements throughout Paphos have been neglected and unless you enjoy window shopping in eatate agent windows theres nothing to see any more.
The port end of town is still pleasant- although I was charged £7.50 for a beer and a cofee in one of the cafes-and the beer came in a can...warm! Without a smile!
Very sorry but Paphos for me has turned in to an expensive dump, night life spoilt by stag dos and hen parties. I could not recommend one single bar. Not for me I am afraid. I just hope they improve the place and their attitude befor the euro,Jan 08.

Being between Paphos and Coral Bay we had the best of both worlds. Both were as clean as you could reasonably expect bearing in mind the amount of tourists that go there. Entertainment is good, all the usual water sports, shops tavernas and everything else. Paphos also has a few historical sights that are well worth a visit. Paphos seems cleaner than Coral Bay, although Coral Bay is very safe and good for small children and those that are a bit scared of the water! We would definately go again

We stayed about a 20 minute walk from the harbour where there was a good selection of bars, shops and restaurants. Around the harbour itself ther was a wider choice, with the busier nightlife being centred around the bar street area. There's something for all age groups and tastes.
The beaches aren't long sandy stretches, but small coves and some are quite rocky. They have put in floating pontoons to walk down to get into the sea to avoid the very rocky areas. The resort was generally very clean and litter free and had a very laid back feel to it.
There was lots to see locally - the Tombs of The Kings and the Mosaics are well worth a visit and anyone interested in history would love it. We would certainly return again.

Paphos itself is split into to distinct areas, the town with the market and narrow streets, and the port with its bars, restaurants and timeshare touts. They hang out opposite the red rose, they are all english, just tell them to get lost and they leave you alone.
The bars / restaurants on the harbour are expensive, you pay for the location, there are plenty of restaurants along the promenade and kings road offering good food and drink at sensible prices.
There are a few clubs and discos scattered along the way however they are not in residentiaql areas so no noise if you fancy a quiet night in. beaches, as such do not really exist, except Coral beach. All the rest are pebble but accessible and clean. if you fancy a trip out go for Mikes bus trip, rickety old bus which stop at scenic places, never the same place twice in a row. Out comes the barbeque and you get well fed and watered all included, then he gets his guitar out and you have agood sing song, kids love it. hire a speedboat at the harbour for about £50 per hour. Fantastic fun blasting up and down the coast. various cruises and fishing trips available from the port, all good value, plus the tornado boat, a roller coaster on water, not for the feint hearted. Avoid the safari, bus with no air con, drives for hours, boring.
Locals very friendly and polite, a please and a thank you is always well received. for cigarettes use the market in the old town, for booze use e&s supermarket, cheaper than duty free at the airport and good value all round.
Would recommend N'neils irish pub, the Rib Shack and San Marino's for food. avoid Pizza Hut, selection is limited and prices are a rip off.
Paphos is a brilliant place to relax and unwind will be back later this year.

Paphos is a good resort, with a good choice of bars and restuarants.
The Aloe is approx 15 mins from the port which is a lovely walk.
Choice of restaurants is great although as non fish eating veggies menu choice became very limited.
No complaints.

The resort is clean and well maintained.
Bar Street is definitely the place to go for a nite life to lead into the early hours, there are plenty of bars and clubs to choose from. There are very good restaurants and local bars with live music down by the Harbour and surrounding areas. You just have to go out and search!
A trip on the boat is a must. There is a choice between half and full day cruises. We went on the full day cruise and it was excellent. We also found the nite cruise with fireworks display very entertaining and good value for money.
Coral Bay is the beach to visit. A bus which runs every 15 minutes will take you there for 80 cents. It is well worth a visit. Picturesque, sunbeds, umbrellas and sea sport. Also bar / cafe, shop, and clean showers/toilet facilities.
I would definitely visit this resort again.
