We came in August and found the hotel excellent very big it took us a good ten minutes walk from our accommodation block two, to the main reception area.

We were very pleased with the size of our room, the cleanliness of it and we had a wonderful view of the beach and sea. There was a bit of building work going on behind our block but we never heard any noise at all from our room. Not even from any other guests at all.

The staff were fantastic very good service never had to wait more than a few minutes for our drinks. They always found us a table or sun beds or umbrella when ever we needed them.

They are all very friendly and couldn

Our second visit to the Grand Azure this time with the granchildren, who loved every minute of it, especially the 11 year old girl who was getting quite a bit of attention from the waiters.
Cant understand the gripes about the food, we found it as varied as any other hotel, not as varied as a cruise. Food hygiene is good with food hygienists patroling.

Daily entertainment was better this year with more enthusiastic animators. Evening entertainment, mini disco was the most entertaining.

Swimming is fabulous after the 10 minute walk to the end of the pier, to the left, of the end, in the light blue water, is excellent for kids and poor swimmers, not that deep ( from waist deep to about 7ft) and has an abundence of fish, sneaking a few bread rolls and bits of sausage and egg to feed them is a good idea. Continue straight from the end of the pier, slip slide and fall across the coral, and you come to the serious snorkelling, which is as good as the boat trips will offer

Trips and excursions, of the same and better quality than the reps offer, can be purchased from Gammal safari and water sports, a 10 minute walk to the right along the cycle path next to the beach, you come to his quad bikes. If you like an adrelalin rush, ask him for a private quad bike trip, not a womens trip, hair raising after the obligitory stop at the beduin Marks and Spencers.

We didn't encounter any rude Russians, we did encounter English, early morning sunbed nickers giving the Germans a bad name

Over all this is an excellent hotel

Tips
Barter for everything everyware, you start at half of what they ask for, Tell them Al Fayed sells it cheaper in Harrods

Watch for the trick of substituting a 25Piesta note for a 5LE note when you use a 5LE note for payment, taxi drivers outside the hotel do it, and market holders.

Towels went missing both times we have been, the first time resulted in a row with the towel keeper, with my demending to see the manager, he relented and gave me 2 to replace the ones that got nicked, this year I waited untill he was not at his post, and nicked it back, much easier.

Checking out at noon if the manager cuts the band, he will give you a card which entitles you to lunch and free drinks.

Got back 31/08/06 on arrival first room we were shown was not what we had booked it had no balcony or sea view so we had to move to room which had, it pays you to take your booking form with you so you can show them exactly what you booked, room was ok! nothing special.

Found food ok but all done in various sauce (some vile) chicken not done enough (pink) The ala carte restaurants were small all clustered together in the lobby area, except fish restaurant which was near sea front, waiters all seemed seemed to be in "panic mode" to get you out so that they could clear up, (we and our drinks taken away several times when we had not finished, where ever we went)

We did get deli belly, my wife had it most of the holiday, note watch out for the prawn cocktail which is a starter in the fish restaurant we are convinced this started our deli belly's.

Staff on the whole friendly & eager to please all they need is to is be talked to politely simple hello, please, or thank you applied accordingly always seemed to be appreciated by the staff (we did not go for tipping after every meal/drink and we never had to wait long for the staff to serve us)We saw one English holiday maker telling the man who puts out the towels out to blow up his child's inflatable bed (with his mouth) these people are waiters not slaves so please treat them as such and you will get a good response back.

The animation team work hard with limited resources, the shows were basic but enjoyable. Except for the groups of English youths that where there on our 1st week they seemed intent to spoil it for everyone else at the shows, they were always drunk, swearing & never with their parents the Germans/Russians called them "English hooligans" & so did the animation team.

The Terrace Bar at the rear of the dining area was not big enough to cope with the people after the shows had finished as lots of people headed there but like us could not get a seat. It certainly needs another bar similar in size to the terrace bar as the bar next to the amphitheatre was very much a sort of children's room in a social club atmosphere.

We found the Russians ok (keep themselves to themselves) the Egyptians who were on holiday we found were rude, pushed to get to food, refused to queue and always went straight to front of any queue their children were the same.

Now for some good points the snorkelling was brilliant the Red Sea is like swimming in bath water its so warm but make sure you take coral shoes with you. overall our holiday was relaxing and the complex is situated in lovely grounds/pools the lobby area is also very smart but we would only give this hotel a 3 star rating even our rep said the same.

We would not go back to this hotel or Egypt again. (Done it seen it brought the t-shirt)

On arrival the hotel looks very grand, the lobby is very nice, and as you are taken to your room you will pass the pools all of which are nice.

When you arrive at your room you will probably get asked for money by the person who took you there, once your cases arrive shortly after you will be asked for more money again by those who delivered them.

Once you wake up if you intend to go to the lagoon pool you will wish you had got up at 5 AM to claim your sun beds as people will have already put towels on the ones they wish to claim, many heated arguments were herd by people shouting that the sun beds belonged to them and had been used for the last few days. This is even though the hotel policy is no sun beds can be reserved, although this in not enforced. On one occasion I attempted to put my towel on a sun bed but was told the bed was taken by a hotel security guard, a few hours later a couple arrived and paid the security guy for looking after the beds for them.

Cleanliness of the hotel room was good, please be aware though all staff are male and will open your door after a very light knock and will walk straight in to the room.

My wife said the female toilets were very poorly cleaned, especially around the dining rooms, never any toilet paper and again maintained by male attendants, on some occasions the smell was very noticeable.

We found the main dining room to be of low standard, dirty tables, missing table ware and a very slow service for drinks. Staffs struggled to cope and were very busy.

Food was poor, some of which looked as if it had been from lunch or had been prepared a number of hours earlier and warmed up, You will find very little food suitable for children, no chips!. Lots of ignorant people who push in or have no manners (not mentioning any nationalities)

The speciality restaurants are not up to a standard you would expect, the food is not very authentic at all, and your choice is very limited.

Well what can we say about the LTI Grand Azure - for us it was Fantastic! The hotel itself I would agree is not UK 5 star however we were very happy with the standard of accommodation we stayed in. A twin room which had 2 queen sized beds and a large single bed for our 3 year old daughter. All areas were very clean and our room was cleaned every day and towels changed as often a we liked. We gave our cleaner

We have just come back from a weeks stay at the LTI Grand Azure where we had a throughly enjoyable time.

The hotel was very impressive and extremely well kept and also the gardens. The food was excellent especially in the Italian and Seafood restaurants. If anyone can't find anything they like then they should stay in England .

The staff are extremely friendly especially at the swim up bar situated at the Terrace Bar and also at the Terrace Bar itself. The Russians were extremely rude but didn't let it bother us.

There was no problems getting sunbeds at the terrace pool some were still free at 11.00am. We never felt pressurised into tipping staff . The entertainment was average but no worse than most hotels we have been to.

Try snorkelling , the sea was very warm and shallow in most places but it is well worth it to see the variety of fish , but you must were coral shoes bought from the shop for

We returned from our two week vacation on 10th August. The standard of cleanliness throughout the whole hotel was impeccable.

The food at the buffet was ok, plenty of choice a bit repetitive in the morning but that would be my only gripe. We tried the fish, Italian, Oriental/Mediterranean and the Chinese. The Chinese I thought by far the best, the others were ok. No worse than your average eatery in the UK.

We all suffered from Dehli belly but were fine after a course of tablets from the chemist over the road.

We found the service in the restaurants to be great. The waiters are very friendly and made a right old fuss of my 10 year old.

The service at the bars was also great. I found if you treat the staff with respect, which lets face it, are basic manners then they returned this with huge smiles and greetings every time we walked passed.

There were a few rude guests though but no more or less than you would find walking along most UK streets, regardless of nationality.

The only real let down with the hotel was what can only be laughingly described as the nightly entertainment. It has to be seen to be believed!! But a deck of cards and a bit of socialising you can make your own entertainment and meeting new folks is all part of the holiday adventure. The kids tend hang around near the entertainment on the night and mine chose to do so most nights making friends very easily, playing table tennis and pool.

The trip to Naama bay is worth while, you are hassled a little but a polite firm no and it ends there. If you want to buy anything go for at least half the original price they offer. If they say no walk away and more often than not they

Returned to the UK on 8th August having had a wonderful time at this hotel.

Would suggest that anyone going to this hotel does not get disheartened by some of the negative comments in earlier reports, as many of the issues, particularly relating to service and cold food, seem to have been addressed.

This hotel is spotlessly clean. The reception, pools and gardens are beautiful.

We had a family room in Cluster 9, which is close to the main waterfall pool. Our room was one of the most spacious we have stayed in. There were two bedrooms, the main one having a huge king size bed and the children's room having two large single beds. Plenty of storage space. Our cleaner was excellent, occasionally leaving us beautiful towel sculptures to delight us when we returned to the room! The bathroom was large and towels and beds were changed daily, even the shower curtain was replaced on a regular basis.

We found the food to be pretty good on the whole. In the main restaurent burners under each dish ensured that food was kept hot. The layout of the food was not always logical, and you sometimes had to search around a bit for things that go together! Enjoyed breakfast, with fried eggs and omlettes cooked fresh to order. Never had any problem finding a table, waiters would rush to clear a table if there was none immediately available. Drinks and tea /coffee served by the waiters, or you could help yourself. Waiters very friendly and love the kids.

Nice thing with this hotel is you can visit the A La Carte restaurents as often as you like, as long as you book in advance (book for same or next day from 10am in reception)We particularly liked the Oriental/Mediterranian and the Italian. The fish restaurent is in a lovely setting at the beach so well worth a visit. Chinese was the most heavily booked. Excellent service in all of them. Note: men are required to wear long or below knee trousers for evening meals!

In addition, for lunch you have the Beach Bar and Tropicana Restaurent serving fresh baked pizzas, kebabs (delicious!), grilled chicken, burgers, chips and salads etc. By the waterfall pool you can get various filled rolls and chips, as well as a full menu in the main restaurent. At 4pm pastries and tea/coffee available at the Terrace Bar. If anyone can't find something they like at this hotel then they should probably stay in England!

We were told by someone working out there that the main reason for the almost inevitable tummy upset, is drinking ice cold drinks while the weather is exceptionally hot, as it is too much of a shock to the system! If you do get the lurgy, go to the chemist opposite, it'll cost you about ₤12 quid but works better that Imodium - be warned if you're male he'll probably offer you viagra as well!

Have only given the hotel a 4 star rating for location, as there is really nothing around the area apart from a few shops outside. However it is in a lovely setting on the beach and the snorkelling is absolutely amazing. Suggest you buy snokell and mask before you go, JJB Sports do a good set for ₤8, more expensive in hotel. Rock shoes are a must, you can get them for ₤5 from beach shop. After the extensive shallow bit at the end of the jetty, the reef suddenly shelves away into the open sea, where it is 25 meters deep! This is wonderful to see but be careful of current, look out for red flag. There are a couple of staff down there giving advice. Plenty of lovely fish in the shallows though.

The staff at the hotel are brilliant. We never at any time felt obliged to tip, but did so when we had received good service. We always tipped the towel men at the pool as they are so willing to help you. If you can't find a bed/parasol, just let them know and they will find one for you.

Like the previous family, we also booked the Intro Dive day with Werner Lau at the hotel, following a try dive in fountain pool. It was absolutely fantastic. Our children are 14 and 10 and they loved it. We did two 30 minute dives each, one to one with an instructor, and the experience was worth every penny.

Agree with all previous comments about the evening entertainment, it is naf! Daytime is better if you want it, with water polo, aqua gym, darts, football etc. Dolphin pool is where it all happens, if you're feeling active! Kids enjoyed the Billiard Bar for pool and table tennis and made lots of friends there.
Billiard Bar and Lobby Bar are open and all incl until 2am.

Unlike some previous reports, our bands were not cut off at mid day. As we were not being picked up until 7pm, we asked to keep our room on until 6pm. This cost ₤15 and was well worth it. Maybe there was a different manager on duty, but our bands were not cut off even then!

I would advise you stand your ground on this issue, as most British don't seem to arrive until late on the first day, perhaps missing evening meal that day, and therefore the last day is only making up for what you missed on the first day!

Went with family wo had previously stayed at this hotel. Enjoyed my holiday here but would only return if I got a cheap deal. Kids loved the slides at the swimming pool. Food was awful and did not cater for kids at all - thank goodness for crusty bread!!!! Pizzas at beach front and omlettes at breakfast were nice but only so many you can eat!! All staff were very friendly and certainly did not mind handing ever tips - as they really were not that much but felt guilty if I never had any smaller notes on me. Beauty of all inclusive is supposed to be that you don't have to carry money but felt had to carry for tips constantly. Entertainment really poor and spent most of our time at grand reception area where it was also the coolest place. Another down side was trying to get ice-cream for the kids at the pool, each child had to go individually or they would not give it to you as they thought it was for the adults - wouldn't really have thought it should have mattered.
