It would be fine if you have a large group or children, but as adults without kids we were bored as there was no entertainment at all whilst we were there (if you don't count the World Cup matches screened every night at 10pm). I was expecting something, perhaps a belly dancer or some live music, but there was absolutely nothing at all. Very dull - the only thing you could do was drink.
The food was not a patch on the quality of the Hilton. The buffet restuarant was adequate and there was usually at least one or two things you could eat, but the quality just wasn't very good overall. I ended up just having bread, cheese and tomatoes by the end of the week.
The Egyptian night that they have every Weds was good but was totally ruined by the masses of loud, rude Russians who just pushed in the long queues. After 15 mins queuing for a kebab or something, you got shoved aside by the Russians who dived in and grabbed the lot. I had to bite my tongue to avoid an international incident several times. The staff were sick of them too - you could tell, but there was nothing they could do.
The speciality restaurants that you have to book were better, but you did get rushed through them if you where in the first sitting, we had all three courses and drinks and were out the door in 45 mins each time! Before you'd finished they would be trying to take the plates away. In fact, in all the eating places, we often had drinks and food removed before we'd finished, as they were short of glasses and plates.
The rooms and site are very clean and well kept, staff friendly but over-worked and one or two were clearly not very happy. They didn't have time to chat or converse much as I think there just wasn't enough staff so they were under pressure and I felt for them. They really appreciated it if you were polite and civil, as opposed to the Russians who can be rude and just point at things they want and won't speak. We learnt the Egyptian words for please and thank you, and that went down really well with the staff.
The pools are great and we never had a problem getting loungers either by the pools or on the beach - unless you are very particular about where you sit this shouldn't be a problem.
The front desk staff were a little stiff and unwelcoming - they never even said goodbye when we left. We were both ill with the food after only 1 day there (never been ill in Egypt before!) and were up all through one night being poorly. We ran out of water at 3am so my husband walked up to reception to ask for more water. He was told to go back to his room and call room service! Why they couldn't have picked up the phone and made the call for him I don't know - there was no-one else in reception so it wasn't busy! He did so and had to speak to four different staff before we were able to ask for water. Not very efficient or helpful service at all, considering we were both really ill.
The room cleaner we tipped when we first arrived, for which we got a towel sculpture in return. Very nice, but on a couple of occasions we had to ask for towels and toilet paper as he hadn't left us any. And you get one little bar of soap - you have to ask for more of that too!
The majority of other guests had families, there were a lot of babies there. So the noise levels were high and the kids were let loose to run round in the evening whilst you were trying to enjoy a drink on the terrace bar. And they were running round the restaurants as well (all of the them). Not the place to go for a quiet tranquil holiday. The main buffet restaurant was very noisy and busy - you could hardly hear yourself think in there and it was more like a work's canteen in atmosphere than a restaurant.
I would never go back to this hotel and quite frankly we were both really disappointed with it. I would however. go back to the Hilton Nuweiba anyday! I would recommend couples to think twice, if you're looking for a quiet relaxing, holiday, don't go here!

The main hall food is okay, but we ate in the Oriental/Italian restaurants because these offered better service.
We used the fountain pool bar every day and Hanny was great. He works on his own for 12 hours, serving at 2 bars and doesnt stop. The fountains have been broken for some time which is a shame, hopefully along with the promised refurbishmants these will be restored.
Our biggest gripe was the service for drinks, when I read previous reports of waits of 30 minutes I thought the claims were ridiculous, but sadly, it is true. Waiting for food & drinks at the beach bar and Tropicana is dreadful, 30 minutes plus.

The staff were excellent throughout, and were not simply after tips. We tipped staff who helped us, and those who made our holiday enjoyable. All the staff worked incredibly hard, apparently for very little. We managed to obtain drinks within 5 minutes, and were often asked by passing waiters if we required another.
There was a good variety of food, even for the most unadventurous, eg. my daughter.
Although located away from the centre it was easy to obtain transport there. (Hard Rock Cafe in Naama Bay was great).
The rooms were pleasant, and cleaned daily by the staff. Okay, there wasn't an in home cinema, plasma TV, spa, crystal chandelier, or whatever those who gripe would want, but they were of a good standard. Aren't holidays about spending time out of your room?
On the downside - the entertainment was at times laughable, and a number of guests we spoke with contracted Pharoah's revenge (sickness and diarrhoea), ourselves included.
That aside we had a great time. 40c and always sunny in Sharm vs 10c and raining in England - you decide.

Hotel - the first glimpse of this hotel is the impressive 5* lobby where you are given your first chance to upgrade to a superior room and international brand drinks 20 euros per person per day for this you get a larger room to sleep in, newspaper at breakfast in the green room, 24 hour bar and fruit juices, but you are not allowed to take your drinks out of the upgrade area and mingle with the normal people (red bands)upgrades get a green wristband.
Room - On leaving the lobby you are shown to your room via the large and very impressive swimming pools with bars fountains and flumes very 5*.
your luggage arrives about 15 minutes after being shown to room which is sadly where the 5* ends and becomes a good 3* clean and tidy as the rest of the hotel is, but hey normally I don't go on holiday to sit in a room.
Food - main dining room is buffet and does get a little repetitive chicken or beef dishes but a very good pasta station in the evening and good egg and omelette station in the morning the speciality restaurants were better chinese then Italian were the best, now I'm not saying it was the hotel food but I was one of the many that went down with the pharaohs revenge and actually did go on holiday to sit in a small room! About 10 days off and on and on again.
Drink - beer is weak and gassy from the pumps ask for bottled beer it is available at most of the pools and the billiard room spirits were a bit rough but found that gin n tonic was about the best combo tried everything else. Do drink plenty of water.
Staff- absolutely brilliant nothing was to much trouble and they really are friendly not just after tips.
Entertainment - stick pins in your eyes its more fun
Tips - the hotel provides a bus to its sister hotel near naama bay you must book it the day before you want to go and book the return at the same time, it is still a ten minute walk 15 if you have small kids to the center where shops and hard rock are, also you can book a taxi from the hotel 190 Egyptian pounds round trip but pay no more than 130, coral shoes snorkels t-shirts and souvenirs buy from the hotel directly opposite its much cheaper than lti or naama bay, buy cigarettes at the airport 850 for 200 b&h and they DO take Egyptian money along with any other currency.
Dos n Don'ts - do have a drink and steak meal at the camel bar in naama, dont get fooled into shops where you will be kept prisoner until you buy something " I am a new artist ,would you sign my visitors book, I love English people " if you do get caught haggle.
Do go to the hotel doctor if and when you get belly ache he will sort you out

However the service element in the bars especially the VIP bar was a disgrace with half an hour being a regular time to be served here, even after complaining about this it never improved.
The entertainment here as mentioned on other reviews is pretty non existent, unless you like a dance show every night which gets copied every night but in differnet costumes so early to bed most nights, but you to be as reserving sun beds is a must as by 8.00am they would be all gone, which is a joke when they say no reserving is allowed.
I was concerned re the tummy trouble before we went after some of the reviews but really non of us went done with anything too bad, i think we all had to take one immodium for one day then we were ok again, but I did here of othere having to use the pharmacy over the road, I think you just have to be carefull and selective.
The location is on the beach but its a long walk where eventually you can snorkel but its still pretty dangerous to walk out on the coral and we all got cuts from the waves pushing us over onto the coral, but the sea life is worth making the effort to see.
Our room was in cluster 15 close to the reception which was great and the size of the suite was big, however the two portable beds they put for my children had seen better days and had to be replaced.
If you want a quiet holiday just relaxing by the pool enjoying the clear blue skies then this hotel is for you, very clean good size rooms but you have to let the service element ride over your head.
Would visit here again but for week.

Tipping though not expected is the way of life and for a relatively small consideration will soon have your favourites serving you with a bigger smile!
Excellent choice of food well presented and prepared.
Entertainment program had not really started for the season so difficult to comment on.
The only problem was an initial one, having booked an 'economy' room although well appointed was without a window to the outside world, no doubt using all rooms available, after a bit of a discussion an alternative was found which was as good as it gets for the price.

Again the food was great, the service was superb after a few tips. We took $1 notes as lighter than euros on pound coins and the locals seemed to like them best.
You still get good service if you dont tip but when you consider the awful wages they get the odd dollar worth 64p is not to much to give.
The best place for lunch is in the Tropicana restraunt on the beach front where the shish kofteh keebabs are great as is the fresly cooked piza. The chinese restraunt at night is great as well The food in the main restraunt is good but can be only warm at sometimes especially if you leave it late to dine but we never had any major gripes about it. On wednesday nights is an Egyptian night where you can try Egyptian food and their is traditional dancing. You should not go hungry in this hotel.
For kids the water slides are a must and the kids club seemed to keep them entertained in the day. There are 3 pools. The large lagoon pool, the fountain pool and the more lively dolphin pool where the entertainmet team do activities like belly dancing lessons, water polo, volleyball and aerobics.
I can say a lot of good things about the hotel the only downside is the rudeness of the russians who do not seem to know the words please or thanks and are excellent at pushing in.
We had a superb time and would go back again if returning to Egypt.

The entrance area of the Grand Azure is very impressive as are the grounds and the numerous swimming pools. The staff are extremely friendly but service can be slow.
The hotel and grounds are very clean and well kept. The Italian, Chinese and oriental/Arabian restaurants were all very good. We were not impressed by the main buffet restaurant.
The Russians were a nuisance, often trying to push in when queing. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere but Naama Bay can easily be reached by the hotel shuttle bus or cheap taxi, (you must haggle and agree a price, about

There was a great choice in food and I dont think you could ever get hungry here. We did have to pay for an upgrade to a bigger room as the inadequte fold up bed and cot was a bit of a squash but the staff did there best to try and fit us all in.
The hotel staff are wonderful and will try there upmost to please you nothing is to much trouble. We found been polite and friendly they looked after you like you were royalty.
Its a pity the Russians can not seem to manage the politenss!! The entertainment try but i didt feel it was directed at the English guests. We will definatly go back again hopefully very soon.
