Try to get a sea view room overlooking the lovely gardens and sea.
The buffet is excellent and we did not get sick.
Amazing place.

You must upgrade to the best rooms, as all rooms in need of new furniture and decor etc. must have a seaborne or pool view room too.
Charging for wifi in this day and age is disgusting hotels just making money out of you for all extras.

Staff very helpful, good food, rooms very clean. The staff go out of their way to help you day or night. Try the Italian restaurant, it has good steak and you will go back again.

Deluxe & Superior rooms in the main hotel.
Room 1210, spacious and quiet over looking the swimming pool.
Onions is a good restaurant to try, but being on the all inclusive, we did not try, but a lot of guests did.

Even number rooms face the sun, odd number rooms are on the dark side and never see the sun.

Sharm is very commercial, and as it is purpose built, it could be disappointing for some. We stayed at teh Sonesta Beach resort, and would prefer to be closer to a less crowded beach, it seemed better nearer the Shrks Bay end. Pizza Hut is cheap and friendly.
Mexican bar is great. Souvernir shops are repetative, and the malls are tedious - same old or new tat, with or without hassle. Safe to walk around with lots of security, but not much to do if you don't get on with the comapany you are with. It isn't party central.
Avoided the camel bar as it seemed to be divers only, which I find tedious, but there is room for everyone. Lots of relaxing tea bars with shisha. Difficult to get more than one drink - keep getting the bill.
Went to Pacha good fun, and we got a discount, but it's not like Ibiza! Perfume shops and hassle can be irritating, best not acknowdedge them - one guy tried to charge me £40 sterling for a bottle of body lotion! It is still on the shelf.
Went to old Sharm, with a local and tried the sugar cane drink - so sweet I thought my teeth would fall out! It had effects later, when I became a victim of the Sharm Shuffle!
Lots of people came for a week, and never left the hotel, which I find strange - why travel so far. Will go back, when I can afford it...

Sharks bay is basically a hotel resort. There was a good beach at shark’s bay which had a minimal entry fee.
There was nothing outside the hotel to do just a couple of small shops. There was good diving and snorkelling at the resort

Sharm el Sheik is a beautiful resort, you find buzzing clubs or quiet little bars. The beaches are outstanding and it is true the sea is crystal clear. Make sure you visit Cairo if this excursion is available, although it takes 7 hours by coach (you can go my air but more money and you don't get the overnight stay!). Cairo was breathtaking and certainly made our holiday one to remember!!

In Nama Bay men pray on people to buy from their shops.
Young children do get scared that the Police carry guns, it is a good idea to explain that alot of important presidents and political leaders come to Sharm regularly for peace talks.
The beaches tend to be shingle and therefore ensure that you buy good beach shoes also if you are snorkelling as the coral is very sharp and it is illegal to stand on this or touch it.
All I wanted from my holiday was to relax and enjoy my time there and know I would come home with a tan and abit of a hangover with fantastic memories.
I went quading, snorkelling, a flight to Cairo and on the Arabian night all of which were fabulous! I fully enjoyed this holiday and would recommend all to go.

We only went down into Sharm el Sheikh a couple of evenings whilst we were there. There were plenty of places to eat or to just sit and have a drink and people watch.
The traders and shop owners talked to you but they did not hassle you to purchase their goods and were quite happy for you to browse around for as long as you wanted to.

Sharm was absolutely lovely. Clean, well laid out and other hotels and the Naama centre very accessible via a nice promenade that runs between the hotels and the beach. Good restaurants and very friendly people. Egytians make you feel extremely welcome and Sharm was no exception. Would visit Sharm again most definitely.

Our hotel was very close to the restaurants and there was plenty of choice with regard to meals. There was food of every description, from Lebanese, to Chinese, Indian, Italian, whatever you like. The Egyptians are not so in your face as they are in Luxor, you won't be pestered so much. In fact, we wanted to buy something and the guy couldn't have been less interested. It is a bit like Blackpool on a good day, a bit brash for my liking. If you're not really interested in diving there's not much to do except sit by the pool, so take plenty of books and magazines. My only complaint about the resort is that it's on the flight path to the airport and there is continual noise from aircraft. I don't think any of the hotels will escape this especially if you're in one of the ones bordering on the beach. It might be better on the other side of the road. If this bothers you it will spoil your holiday, it certainly spoilt mine!

Two main centres - Naama Bay and Old Sharm el Sheikh. We went once to Old Sharm, stayed about 20 minutes, and went back to Naama Bay. Jo felt quite intimidated, and said she would have been very uncomfortable on her own or in an all-female group. Walking past a local butcher's shop, the smell was appalling, and the cages of live chickens quite distressing by european standards (not quite as upsetting as when one of the chickens was purchased, and had it's neck wrung just as we passed!).
There was nowhere in Old Sharm where I would have been happy to eat.
Naama Bay is very touristy (is that a word?). Lots of bright lights, loads of bars and restaurants, and limitless malls and shops. Also night clubs and discos, though we didn't try these. If you do eat in one of the restaurants, remember that the "Fillet Steak" will actually be a moderate sirloin at best! We couldn't find anything authentically local (Perhaps we should have stomached Old Sharm a bit longer?), but plenty of Italian, Chinese, Indian, etc. Also, if you want it, a MacDonald's and a Hard Rock Cafe.
Dress code is very relaxed. This was our first time in the middle east, at least since childhood (a long time ago!), and we were quite concerned before we left about swimwear and the like. In many middle eastern countries you need to cover up in public, but in Sharm more or less anything goes. Topless sunbathing is fine on the beach or by the pool, though nobody walked around topless. Also thong type bikinis were worn with no problems (again, when walking aound the hotel away from the pool or beach area, people tended to put on a sarong).
It seems strange to see girls wearing next to nothing, with some local women in full neck-to-ankle outfits sat on the next sunbed; but in may ways this is part of the charm of the area - complete tolerance of other people's standards.
The Egyptian people seem to genuinely like the British, and will go out of their way to help you. This can sometimes get a bit OTT, and they can get quite upset if you don't want to look in their shop. You just need to be firm but pleasant. A smile, and "No, thank you" works, provided you just keep walking. If they persist, try it in Arabic - "La, shukran!" - and finally, "Imshi!" ("Scram!")
The most important thing to remember is that there is no fixed price for anything - haggle!
Apart from Old Sharm, everything is very clean - no litter - and in general we found the whole experience very pleasant.
