Qawra is located near to the North of the island on St Pauls Bay. Although commercialised it still has a pleasant relaxed atmosphere, Qawra and neighbouring Bugibba are places I will always come back to. The atmosphere of the place is reflected in the locals. They can be seen chatting in their front gardens watching the world go by of an evening or chatting over the garden wall. If its night club life your after then Paceville at St Julians is where you need to be. The resort is kept clean and tidy.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants to chose from, you can eat around the world here at reasonable prices.
Apart from restaurants, there are a variety of shops from variations of good souvenier shops to cloths and jewellery. There are good supermarkets too for self catering.
There is no real beach at Qawra, but the rocky beach area is kept clean. There are areas you can sunbathe, if you wish.
The bus station has been modernised since my last visit and automated ticket machines have been installed, though bus staff are on hand to sell tickets and give information. Here you can catch a bus to practically anywhere, but not Dingli or the Blue Grotto, or you can sit and watch the marvellous old buses from the 1940's and 1950's arrive and depart. Malta is probably one of the only countries in Europe where non bus enthusiasts take pictures of the buses.

Qwara is really pretty and very quiet and safe. The main resort centre of Buggiba is only 10 minutes walk away. Just one thing be very careful of Timeshare touts. The latest kick in Malta is that they're not selling timeshare, they're representatives from Thomson who are building a huge new hotel down the road and they just want you to go and see it. They give you a scratch card and low and behold you've won a 2 week holiday for 4 in any Thomson resort around the world no strings attached, all you have to do is go and see this new hotel and fill in a questionnaire about your own accommodation. As you can imagine, this is all rubbish, once you go with them to the "new" hotel, you are subjected to the hard sell and it's very hard to get out of, they are very menacing in their manner once you want to get out. Apart from that Malta and Qwara are gorgeous. There's a lovely restaurant next to the Suncrest Hotel called Extremes and the food is fab and quite cheap.

We were not very impressed by the resort cleanliness as there doesn't seem to be any restrictions on where dogs do their business and there is lots of rubbish around

We found Qawra to be very noisy, with very loud music being played outdoors until late at night. There was no possibility of escaping this as it was played at full volume, every single night of the week. It was not a place to be if you wanted a peaceful holiday. I really wish we had found this website before booking our holiday to Malta

If you like loud music coming from every bar, dirty streets, lack of decent restaurants and attrocious driving then Qawra and Buggibba are for you. Locations further afield were much better and the buses were convenient, as is a hire car. Sleima and Valetta are far more attractive places to stay. A trip to Gozo is a must, as is Comino and the Blue Lagoon.

Please remember that Malta isn't a beach holiday unless you go to Melieha Bay areas. There are some nice beaches dotted around the island but not in Qawra. There are a few shops in this area but it's better to have a quick walk into Bugibba. This brings you into an area with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs (that show football on large tv's), clubs. The main bus terminal is here too.
You can get a vintage Leyland/Bedford bus to just about anywhere on this lovely island for about 80c(really cheap). Bugibba is the better place to walk to for entertainment.

the resort was great because the medditeranean was just accross the road. The maltese peole were friendly. The resort entertainment was very poor.I would deffinately visit this resort again because its always hot and the sea will never let you down except it is very salty therefore it hurts your eyes.the best thing to do at the beach is to snorling to all the beautiful fish and crabs.Unfortunately the beach is rocky so isnt very comfortable to sit on.you can also go on loads of boat rides.

Resort was nice, not that much to do. There is like a main strip by the coast which is like Blackpool with many restaurants and bars. Not much to do apart from get Henna tattos from the many many stalls there. Went on a horse and carriage ride for 10 minutes which at £26 was far to expensive.
Things generally are quite expensive there but maybe if they change their currency to the Euro I may go back again.

You can get everywhere on the island from this resort, very conveniant, the buses are very reliable and cheap and they are a must if going to Malta, we call them "Chug Chug" buses as they are so old but thats all part of it, great fun. Restaurants are plentiful all very cheap and great standards. The sea is crystal clear but rocky, but just a short bus ride away the beaches are beautifully sandy and great for kids as you can go out great distance and still be only up to knees! Malliha & Golden Sands are specially lovely, both have amenties on the beach for lunch etc.
