We stayed in Qwara which has lots of new hotels. No beach just rocks but nice beaches nearby easily reached by bus.

Qawra is pleasant, it is the poorer relation to Bugibba. But the two are so close they blend into each other quite nicely. You can reach the main part of Bugibba with a 15 minute stroll. There you will find lots and lots of high quality bars and restaurants. I especially enjoyed The Salad Bowl and the Villa Mare next door to each other on the main square. Fat Harry's bar is also there with some of Malta's top performers providing entertainment.
Saturday nights can be very busy with locals,so of them can be a little rowdy it didn't bother me, I had packed my parents to their rooms and enjoyed the atmosphere.
There are plenty of pubs and clubs along the main promenade, some of these a much quieter in the week, but some of the smaller places are far more welcoming than the chain type bars.
I have to give a special mention to Fabrizio Faniello who represented Malta in the Eurovision in 2001, he now has his own bar where he sings once or twice a week, he also serves behind the bar, which was strange when I had seen him only the night before on local TV in the hotel singing! He was very pleasant - I only wish I could remember the proper name of his bar - I think it's fam- bre? It's opposite the Bugibba Holiday Complex though!
There's a nice little internet cafe too near the Bus station, lots of ice creams and coffees to pick from while you surf the net and check your e-mail.
The beach at Bugibba/Qawra is not for the fainthearted. It has limited sunbathing opportunities. There is no real beach, just stones and rocks, although they are safe and large enough to sit on.
Only a short bus/taxi ride away is Golden Bay and Mellieha bay both have glorious stretches of sandy beach.
I do hope you visit this area, and enjoy it as much as I did. And I hope this review helps you make a choice.

We satyed in QAWRA and although it was windy for most of our stay we found the place clean. There seemed to be plenty of night-life for those that wanted it. Theres no beach as such but as we only used the place as a base it did not bother us at all. We would come here again and bring other members of our family.

Qwara is a lovely port town that has grown out of proportion to its location, theres plenty to do, bars and a night club and with the casino it dose have a feel of blackpool about it, the buses are great, but we hired a car, and nearly got divorced! As there arn't many signs, so it's pot luck on many roundabouts, and they don't give way to the right.
The island itself was marvelous but if you're looking for a malteese holiday pick gozo a cheaper more quieter relaxing island and only 20 mins from the main land a much better choice so if you are going to malta take a day to explore gozo.

Quawra is part of Bugibba, now an established resort in its own right, with numerous rocky beaches and a clear blue mediteranean sea. The main bus station is here,so for many people hiring a car is not neccessary, as an single bus trip can be 30-60p each way. Many buy a weekly bus pass for around £7 and travel as many times as they want.
There is a 3/4 mile promenade leading to the resort centre, and it is traditional for families to walk along during the evening, ending up at the centre with its cafe bars, shops & attractions (yes there is even a Mcdonalds there-ugh!)
Bugibba is very family orientated & friendly, everyone speaks english and besides the resort attractions you can take short day trips & cruises from the pier, or book one of the many excursions available.
As Malta is now part of the EU, arriving & leaving is a mere formailty, and the unlimited import of booze & tobacco (own use?) now applies,so with cigarettes at around £1.50 - £2.30 per pack (depending on brand) you can't go wrong! Gold & silver are also at competetive prices, so watch your wife with the credit card!
Fabulous place to visit, virtually no crime, just the odd time share idiot who won't get a proper job (tell them where to go & they leave you alone)Highly recommended

Small sany beach the rest is rock,so not good for kids. When we went no water sports on offer but lots of boat trips.I would say it is a fishermans paradise as the rocky area is full of fish and you only need cheese to catch them,so all you anglers take your telescopic rods with you as there is not really much else for you to do.

As with the rest of Malta street cleaning comes bottom of the list. It might get better later in the season.
Did not see a beach at Qawra.
