Use the hotel taxi to the town/beach, and there is a washer in apartment so take wash tablets.
Quiet on Sundays but still some things are open..

Beutiful village, lots of great resturants but most not suited for the buggy brigade, most of the pubs were either up or down steps and very small , only found one bar that was spacious that we could go into comfortably even if it was a kip.
Alvor a beautiful place for adults or older kids but really despite efforts by the locals really not suited to a family with small children (mine were 1 and 5) at the time.
Next year back to Majorca, without a doubt.

The resort of Alvor is just simply beautiful. The local residents are rightly very proud of it, and were at pains to tell us that even though a lot of development is taking place at the moment, there will be no "high rises" like in Praia de Rocha etc, and the way the streets are laid out, I don't think they could really change the "essence" of it. Loads of smashing bistros and Chinese/Italian/Indian and fish restaurants. No crazy nightlife or clubs, but some lively bars with good atmosphere. The best has to be strolling down the new walkway at the beach, and stopping at the little beach huts for a couple of Irish Coffee's after a nice meal.
Praia de Rocha and Portameo (spelt wrong I think) are around 5 Euros by taxi and worth visiting - Portameo has a great shopping area.
I think you will love Alvor, we have been twice and are booking again for next year.

A brilliant mix of traditional fishing village/quiet tourist location. We are in late 20's/early 30's and we found this was just right for us. Not much to do during the day but trips and excursions could be booked from the hotel and taxis are dirt cheap! Absolutely beautiful beaches - my partner went exploring while I lay on my sunbed and he found lots of little coves - some nearly deserted. We had to climb up some rocks and down lots of steps and almost swim through some parts but it was worth it to get away from the busier main beach. Lots of places to get drinks/snacks along the beach.
At night Alvor has an abundance of bars and restaurants - the Chinese and Italian restaurants were lovely.
We didn't want to come home.

Koutouloufari is a village up the hillside. We never went to the beach because we had a car but found so many other delightful places within 30 minutes drive

Alvor used to be a small, quite rundown fishing village but in recent years has gone through a huge transformation with new promenade and marina without losing any charm of the original fishing port.
The village itself is a maze of small narrow streets not unlike a small Greek island.
There are numerous restaurants of good quality and very family friendly. (There are also the usual tacky themed bars -but they are easily ignored!)Nightlife is basically based around the restaurant/bar life.
The beach at Alvor is vast, clean and very beautiful with spectacular rock formations and cliffs at one end and long stretch of sandy beach as far as you can see.
Be warned!- this is the Atlantic-cold, tidal and things touching your toes that are best not seeing!

Alvor is a clean enough resort but its nothing special.
There's little to do and only merrits a one evening visit. If I had known what Alvor was like I would never have booked to go there. Very disapointed.
The beaches however are excellent once you get there through all the development. Despite this nothing would get me back to Alvor when there are so many far better resorts to choose from.

I think I've covered it above. I loved the town and the people and can't wait to go back. You are kind of on your own as regards entertainment but Michael and the ex-pats had me in stitches so I would give it 5 out of 5. Alvor is pretty much what you make it.
The resort was quite average by way of entertainment. there are about 10 bars down one street and many little shops which all sell the same old holiday rubbish. I felt that prices on the whole are quite expensive.
