Our holiday took place in the middle of May, just as the season started. It was still quiet but very clean and the people were very friendly.
Some fabulous places for eating, especially towards the harbour.... 'Goodeville was the best'

Alvor is a beautiful little fishing village, that thankfully, has managed to retain a lot of charm and originality. I hope it will stay that way.
There are plenty of bars and a multitude of restaurants to pick from. We ate in a different restaurant every night and found them all excellent and very good value. Vagabonda's in particular was lovely - especially if you get a table upstairs on the terrace with the candles lighting and the bougainvillea climbing the walls.
Mourisco's bar is a great spot. The staff are very friendly - remember your drinks order day after day! and make a mean mojito.
There is a buzz around the little cobbled streets at night when everone is out having their pre or after dinner stroll. It has the usual shops selling all kinds of touristy things. Its also very safe.
The beach is beautiful - lovely soft white sand, but the water is very cold! I would go back to Alvor in the morning. Its a very relaxed place full of friendly people

Alvor is one of the prettiest villages I've ever visited. The port, in particular, was a favourite with me. I found the local people to be friendly and the food in the restaurants was outstanding. We budgeted for each day but when we got to the end of our fourth day, we were still using our second day's budget!! We will definitely go back at some point (soon, I hope!!) and would recommend it to anyone!!

There was some entertainment at the club, but as this was over the other side of the road it took us a while to find it.

Alvor is a great resort to enjoy excellent food in a variety of restaurants. These rub shoulders with a mixture of shops selling ceramics, alcohol and other gifts to take home.
The streets are cobbled and offer a truly enjoyable night out. It is one of the quieter villages so if you are after clubbing etc you will have to look further.
The beaches here are fabulous. The main one spreads long and golden round the bay and there are two smaller coves with great caves and cliffs of firey red sandstone. A wonderful place to relax and enjoy eating out.
The only place we have ever returned to a few years on the trot.

The town is no far away about 5 mins walk, there was alot of places to eat at, found some English bars aswell.
Plenty of gift shops but you must look around for the cheapest as they do vary on prices.
