Bathroom was dirty and needed a refurb badly and we had a view of the public toilets from our balcony. I then found we had a huge ants nest stopping with us as well!
When I went to reception to complain she said she couldn't help and we would have to come back in the morning to complain!
I went down in the morning they weren't much help either, after about half an hour of being ignored and passed around to other people I finally got them to move us but they said it would be the following day, which we had to except.
Eventually we got moved to a slightly better room. The food was nice but a bit repetitive after a while, the pool was OK but very busy and noisy alot of children not a hotel for couples wanting a quiet break!
The back gate got locked at 7pm which takes you to the town and shops, won't be coming back again.

This hotel needs to complete its refurbishment. Our first room had not been refurbished and did not meet 4star standard so we complained and were moved to one that had been which was fine.
We were also offered a free upgrade to the Timanfaya but you need take into account that this hotel has approx 15min walk to the outskirts of shops whereas the Princess has the beaches, shops etc within a 5min walk.
Cleanliness - Very good
Food - Breakfast ok, Evening meal very good and varied
Staff - Good
Entertainment - If you have kids the mini disco and daisy will drive you crazy, the shows average and have seen better.
This hotel needs to up its standards to catch up with other hotels in the Canaries, I cannot see why people go back year in year out when there are so many other hotels and islands to visit.
Maybe when this hotel is fully refurbished I may go back in the future.

The room we were allocated was in dire need of refurbishment. The furniture and fittings were old and shabby. Wallpaper was woodchip painted cream which had turned brown.Cracked tiles on floors, the beds were hard and lumpy and the balcony door rattled all night long in the wind.
That was the negative side. On the positive side, the staff were all, without exception, helpful and friendly. The hotel rooms, public areas, pool and gardens were kept immaculate. The pools were a bit cold but you soon get used to it.One good bonus was that the beach was just out the back gate and across the road.
The food in the dining room was buffet style but was very good with plenty of choice. There was always plenty of fresh fruit at all meals. The hotel was very cosmopolitan and it seemed that every nationality was catered for, The piano bar was excellent for a relaxing drink but the entertainment was sometimes a bit boring.
The main show of the evening only lasted 45 minutes. We would be reluctant to return here unless it was completely refurbished and all rooms brought up to 4 star standard.

Reception was a little slow. The sea view room (yes there are some!) we had ordered was on the ground floor with the main road less than 10 feet away and had several large trees blocking the view. Of course there was no alternative available.
Asked a fridge with chilled drinks. It did not work the drinks were warm an it took another 4 hours before it was replaced.
The Restaurant was always full and you had to wait for a table or sit with the smokers.
The food choice was not bad, but the choices often ran out quickly

The hotel at the time was undergoing renovation so the place was a bit of a state. Areas of the hotel look like they haven't been decorated in years, and the whole place has a shabby run dow feel to it. In fact there were so many complaints when we were there that people were being offered to move to the sister hotels down the road, which we found out about to late.
Thefood was of a good standard, although repetitive and the staff in the restaurant were friendly enough.
Staff in reception however was very poor, probably because everyone was complaining about the place.
Childrens entertainers were the only people really trying at this place, and all the kids seemed to be enjoying the place, especially the mini disco.
All in all, a major disapointment for a hotel that is so highly recommended.

We had a newly refurbished room on pool level rooms, it was clean spacious and very comfortable, plenty of extra pillows with clean covers on them, blankets in the wardrobes. There were 2 very large wardrobes and loads of drawers.
The Hotel itself was very clean, The Staff were the best we have ever seen, from dining room to bar to restaurant to reception to Porters they were all fantastic.
The food was excellent in the restaurant, we often eat out when we go to hotels but not this time.
We will definitely go back to this hotel, as we saw how they welcomed people back who had been before.

Stayed there over New year 05/06 what an awful Hotel.
our original rooms looked like they had never been refurbished since the hotel opened probably 20+ years ago.
After requesting a change of room the ones on offer were much better. The Gala Meal which we paid approx

Staff were friendly, hotel was clean but rooms in definite need of refurbishment.
Food was a buffet style for both Breakfast and evening meal and choice was very good.
Pool area was fine apart from the water was very cold within one area and the other area acclimatised to colder weather was quite small for the amount of people.
Entertainment particularly in the Piano Bar was excellent. The Saxophone playing was worth the visit in itself. Did not go to the other bar as the entertainment was amateurish.
Location was central and could visit most places within Playa Blanca quite easily.
We would recommend this hotel and are looking at going again next year but, we will request a refurbished room if at all possible.

The first room we were allocated definately needed refurbishing and smelled, but on complaining at the reception desk, we were immediately offered a much better room which had been refurbished. Also the tiles around the pool restaraunt were cracked.
The food, cleanliness, and staff friendliness were as good as ever.
The entertainment in the piano bar was very good, but the shows in the theatre bar lounge were extremely poor and amateurish.
We will return if the hotel is upgraded to its former state, because its location is better than the other H10 Hotels in the resort.

The food that was left out for the late arrivals was disgraceful but I thought I would wait until the following morning before making a final judgement. Breakfast was awful and the 'restaurant' was, in fact, a canteen!!
I requested a move the rep was too lazy to help but the hotel staff were very helpful and efficient and arranged a move to their sister hotel the Timanfaya Palace which was absolutely superb.
No charge for the move and they even offered to reimburse my taxi fare....that's what i call service!!
If you're looking for 4 star don't even THINK of booking here.
