Location
The food was excellent and you can eat as much as you like. Waiters and waitresses very smart and efficient. The dining room is the only area of the hotel where we found the air conditioning to be unsatisfactory.
The pool area was very clean and the pools themselves good though a bit cold on some occaisions. The towels on the sunbeds saga.... Doors were shut to the poolside until 0800hrs but people queing to get out there, and no it wasnt mostly Germans but the English.
Entertainment ok but could be a little unprofessionable. Drinks in the hotel and poolside expensive compared to outside the hotel complex.

We were near nice bars and restaurants.
I had heard bad reports before we visited this hotel, but ignore them, it is really nice, with a nice pool and bar area and rope bridge.
The food was ok and did the job since we had got a good deal half board.

The staff were very friendly.
There was a problem round the pool with people putting towels on sunbeds and not returning for several hours. How sad they are queing up before 8 o'clock to place their towels before the pool attendant opened the doors.
The bathroom was a bit tricky, trying to turn the shower on round a glass screen. I have a few bruses on my arms that I got whilst trying to turn on the taps without getting my hair wet.

The hotel is impressive but its no good having a fancy reception and nice swimming pool and not having bedrooms to match.
Food was fantastic, you couldnt get a better location everything is on the doorstep. Don't go on excursions with Thomson they are a rip off, to the side off the hotel is a shop you can book with we went to Mount Tiede, Porto del a Cruz and to the church of the Black Maddona for 18 euros it was a full day trip, Thomson wanted 49 euros for a half day trip just to Mount Tiede!!!

New glass water splash shields fitted to baths this year are very dangerous. Anyone not to steady on their feet should avoid this hotel for this reason only.
There will be a very serious accident because of these newly fitted bath surrounds.

Check-in seemed to take ages (15 minutes each couple/person). Perhaps they need to upgrade their systems?
When I got to bed the first night I noticed an ants nest and lots of ants crawling all over the place - my first night was ruined. We were moved to another room which was nice, and then enjoyed the rest of the week. The Thomson rep seemed disinterested ("It's a hot country you expect ants!" she said!). Perhaps she was dissapointed that she wouldn't be getting any commission out of us in respect of the organised trips; but the hotel's own PR lady was extremely helpful and friendly.
We came here after a week on a cruise ship where we were spoilt with excellent food. It was a bit of a come-down to be herded into the buffet restuarant where the food was O.K. but catered more for Germans. Breakfast was ok, but greasy! Dinners, plenty of meats and fish but little variety of boiled veg's and potatoes. You can't take your own drinks in (fair enough), and you can't buy wine by the glass. We bought a bottle which we didn't finish and they didn't have a facility to keep it for us for the next night, and we were physically stopped from taking it into the restuarant the next night. That made us angry. It is one of the hotel's "Rules" explained a surly wine waiter. It should be changed, it is a 4* hotel after all. It's a shame they don't enforce the hotel's "Rules" regarding reserving sunbeds with towels with as much vigour. There were many selfish people who put their towel down at 7 am and then use it at 3 pm for an hour - but it didn't worry me.
The air con system is poor, the 'subtle' lights in the rooms are very subtle, and for some reason there are no tea/coffee making facilities. If you take ur travel kettle, hide it in the wardrobe after use or the headteacher will confiscate it!
Having said that the location was brilliant, and I would come back to the Princess, but only on a B&B basis.

The hotel is tired and in need of renovation.
Corner rooms are very dark and have very small balconies that are totally overlooked.
Check in on New Years Eve took over one and a half hours of queing the rep. said it was a problem every week.
The bar prices dropped after New Years Eve but service was slow all week.
There a problem with the electricity supply and we had power cuts whilst staying there an on going problem. The hotel did give a glass of wine out as recompense.
The bathrooms are very dangerous due to the position and design of the shower panels. It was not possible to run a bath without stepping into the bath because the position of the screen.
The food was good and the New Years Eve set meal was excellent.
There were problems with the Platinum check in resulting in us arriving at the airport as the flight was called.
Not a 4 star Hotel and not the standard of service and care from Thomsons as other holidays.

The food is the only plus point for this hotel, don't be fooled by the brochure you will be really disappointed.
We had a look in the hotel Bitacora just across the road, a real 4 star.
Also there is no air conditioning at this hotel we had to get a fan off the rep (reluctantly).
So be warned this is not a platinum hotel 2 star at most.

It was a bit of a disappointment from we expected from a 4 star hotel.
The space in the room was OK, but the air conditioning only made noise and nothing else. In all stay we had 3 power cuts and we knew from other people that had the same problems.
The restaurant was good, personnel also good.
Other problem we found was that the hotel has a rule that forbids anyone to book the sun beds in the pool, but at 7.30 in the morning every sun bed was already with a towel from people that most of times came to the pool only at the end of the afternoon. Of course, if we wanted to pass the day in the pool with the children, I had to wake up early and do the same thing. One day I saw a very shocking and incredible scene. Some sun beds near the pool were ''reserved'' from someone early, and about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, a couple arrived and found no free sun bed so they called a person from the hotel staff in charge of that area, who took up two towels and the couple put their own towels. The person who took up the towels went away with them to somewhere. Of course, when the ones who had booked the sun beds arrived and saw that their towels had disappeared they asked the staff what happened and he simply gave them the towels explaining that it was not authorised to book sun beds. I agree with this if it was accomplished for everyone, specially from the English and German people that were there in all included basis and acted like they owned the hotel.
The price against quality is good, but some details that for me and for a lot of people that gave already their testimony here made the difference and in my case negatively. I only expect these testimonies arrive to board manager of the Princess Hotels chain, because if they do something, perhaps i'll came back one day. Also I hope Tenerife Princess was only one bad experienced hotel of the Princess Hotel chain.
