Location
The rooms are spotlessly clean and the food is very good with lots of choice.
The entertainment wasn't that good for the younger families like our selves(36 and 29) but ok for the older guests.
Beware of putting your own drinks in the minibar as they do not like that and will take your drinks out and leave them on top.
We were on the third floor with a pool view and we paid extra for a VIP/superior room but didn't think it was worth the extra money! If you need a sun bed get down before 8.00am as most of them will go. I'm sure people put towels on them as early as 6 in the morning but don't go down until midday. It's so annoying. The hotel is supposed to have a policy if towels are on before 8 they would take them off but never seen that happen yet!
I'm sure this hotel will appeal to all.

A good location in a quiet area of Playa de las Americas, plenty of good shops to stroll around in the evening, especially the Safari Centre. Rooms are of a good size and cleaned well, all public areas are spotless.
The pool area isn't the most scenic in the world but no problems getting a sunbed around the pool. If you want one up on the higher terraces that get the sun earlier in the day you will have to be up and out by 7.30am.
To the left side of the pool is a health and beauty centre tucked away, shame it's not in a more prominent place as the massage and treatents are very good and reasonably priced. While I was enjoying the treatments Hubby was off diving with Diver City in Puerto Colon. He says that they are to be recommended as they are spot on for safety and cleanliness.
The food in both the restaurant and pool bar are of a very high standard and always piping hot. Evening meal had a wide selection of hot and cold choices plus show cooking of a meat and fish dish plus a freshly carved choice.Happy hour from 6pm until 7pm so 2 G & T's for 5 euros. Wine with evening meal about 12 euros.
Evening entertainment above average for a Spanish holiday hotel, had a really good Abba tribute band, pan pipe duo and magician plus a resident piano player and singer. The hotel operates a no smoking policy throughout, you can only smoke on your balcony or by the pool, there is a room provided by the entertainment lounge for those that cannot last the evening without a smoke.
On a final note I must add that this has to be the most disabled friendly hotel I have ever seen, rooms on the ground floor by the pool, ramps to restaurant, disable toilets in every public area and the staff could not have been more helpful.

Food is plentiful and varied and not once did we have calls to complain even if we arrived later on at meal times there was still a full spread waiting.
Staff always cleaning and public areas/rooms spotless.
One bonus this year no smoking policy in the retaurant and entertainment lounge (if you need a smoke there is a designated room where you can still see the entertainment).

The food is plentiful and of a high standard. The food is buffet style but all is freshly made and the staff ensure that should any items run out that they are replenished as soon as possible.
The entertainment is average but of an acceptable standard.
The location is paramount for any hotel and this lies at the heart of "up market" part of Playa De Las Americas.
We generally travel self catering but HB at this Hotel was well worth the extra.
We befriended many people staying at this hotel and all were on return visits. It is easy to see why.
A hotel for which once visited , certain to return.

We were very unlucky to have problems with the air conditioning in our room which did take 4 engineer visits to fix and this did unfortunately colour our view slightly.
My main comment though would be about the very strange arrangement of sun beds! They are aligned in regimented rows beneath what we could only describe as 'bike sheds'.
This was in place of the more traditional sun umbrellas but I am afraid they were really no use in providing much in the way of shade.
This is the only reason I would not go to the Vulcano again as I did not feel relaxed in the environment around the pools.
My advice to anyone visiting who also feels the need for better poolside facilities is to make use of the sister hotel just across the road - the Bitacora.
I would also recommend a visit to the Playa Arena at Los Gigantes. The Vulcano lays on a free bus twice a week to this other sister hotel and it is truly fabulous there - we went 3 times during our 2 week stay.
I don't want to be negative about the Vulcano though as it is an excellent hotel - this was just about a personal preference.
We only stayed in the hotel on one evening for the entertainment - it was pretty poor but then most people choose to go out as there is so much available nearby so I can't see the hotel wanting to pay much to bring entertainers in.
We will definitely go back and try the Bitacora next time.

In returning from my half board holiday I can safely say i will never go self catering again!!
Vulcano is well worth its 4 star rating as in all aspects it meets this standard. Check in took approximately 10 minutes(if that) and the staff were very friendly and helpful not only at this point bit also throughout the holiday.
The reception area was an absolute beauty with its gorgeous plantation setting and it was very well maintained throughout the holiday.
The hotel in general was very clean and all staff were helpful. Maids were there everyday and made your very bed for you clean towels everyday and bed sheets changed 3 times a week. We had a ground floor room which was exellent as there was 2 sun loungers and a table n two chairs for you to sit on on the balcony, Rooms were spacious and clean.
The dining area was well presented and well organised with all waiter staff efficient and friendly at all times. The selection of foods was immense - a big tip for anyone visiting this hotel would be to lose about a stone before you go because u will certainly put it on during your stay!!!
Breakfast was entirely up to yourself- cereal, toast, baps n breads jams butters chocoalte spreads freshly made omlettes with your choice of filing, fry ups fresh fruit and so on......... dinner again was mega choice with all soups and cold meat salads and rice for starters followed by steaks, chicken fillets, bbq ribs, lamb chops, paella, choice of potatoes, vegetables pizzas, puff pastries, pasta and so on!!! Deserts were definately my favourite! There were ice creams, cakes, buns, pastries, fresh cream, fresh fruit and then cheese boards all buffet style so you could eat as much as you liked!!
The location of the hotel was fantastic as the beach was app 5 minutes walk as was the main strips of shops and restaurants which was close enough if you wanted to walk but far enough away to miss all the young lively party goers.
I stayed in Vulcano with my fiance and also travelled with my elderly grandparents which suited them well as they didnt have to walk for ages to get a cuppa tea or an ice cream!
A main attraction to the hotel is the safari fountain based diretly behind it - come out of the hotel and turn right and then right again and then right again and this brought you to the fountain. Every night at about 9 0 clock the fountain carried out show of water lights and music - great if you have a video camera its very amusing we watched it nearly everynight of the holiday!!!
I enjoy Tenerife and will have no problems in returning again and I will defiantely be back in Vulcano again. The hotel is certainly more suited for the elderly person however this suited my fiance and myself as there was no banging music and crowds of young ones!
No complaints about this holiday and I will definitely be back in Vulcano again possibly for a honeymoon in 2 years time!!!!

We chose this hotel because there was supposed to be no children but there was lots. The rep told me that it was some sort of mistake and the hotel was still taking bookings from families. It was made worse by being during the Spanish school holidays. Not as bad as some hotels but kids carrying on in the restaurant and pool area is not our ideal.
Found most hotel areas clean but regularly had to pick up long black hair (not ours) from the bathroom floor and shower. It seems that the cleaners go round the rooms with the same mop and tranfer hair from one room to another!
We had to wait about 30 minutes in a queue at reception on arrival to check in. Generally reception was very slow.
The food was good and varied but got a bit boring after a few days and we ended up eating out most of the time the second week.
The Rep (Felicity) was good but a bit elusive due to her other duties.
The pools were reasonably quiet and lovely and warm. They are supervised until 6pm after which we found the balls and inflatables come out with unsupervised children/teenagers which is against the rules.
We watched with facination the stream of British men sent out in the morning to book sunbeds which is also against the rules. Pathetic and annoying but we found that when we returned to the hotel about 3 or 4pm their was spare sunbeds available.
Our room was on the first floor looking out to a path at the back. It didn't have much sun and looked out to a sex shop across the path. We were slightly concerned at first but found the busy path interesting to watch and convenient for some excellent bars, shops and restaurants close by.
Apparently the hotel WILL be child free next year and we may return for the convenient location.

The locatiion was perfect in easy reach of the shops, bars. The staff could not have been more pleasant.
We did not stay in for the entertainment but what I heard sounded OK if you did not want to go out. Best bit, no children. The pool area was very good with no loud music or football.
Bliss.
We had a gound floor room with own terrace sunbeds etc. We were upgraded from a standard, I don't know what they cost but it would be worth every penny.

Again the service was very good, and I thought the food was excellent, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were very friendly at all times.
I think the main attraction of the hotel is that is far enough from the main resort, not to be to noisy, but easy to walk to if you want to.
The area around the hotel has excellent shopping centre, also many nice cafes for the evenings.
Over all a excellent hotel and area.
