Overall then, on the plus side, cleanliness, quality of the rooms and the complex/amenities and a fair degree of tranqulity, on the down side, food, bar prices and to some extent location.
Probably would not visit again, if I did it would not be half board, more likely B&B if they did it..

A further 5/10 mins walk takes you to the main street with posh shops and many restaurants, all the restaurants were good with the Hacienda Tex-Mex being the best(first floor of the complex with feature fountains).
Hotel was very good with large rooms etc and no complaints there.
Evening entertainment was as expected with either Rep shows or outside entertainment.
Day time was down to Jodie and James and was the usual family stuff like killer pool, waterpolo etc etc. Only down side was that there was nothing until 1.00pm (except 20 mins aquarobics at 11.30) I thought they could have done more. Bit of a cushy number during the day for them as they only did activities for probably 2.5 hours in all. They did a;so do the hosting in the evening but again it was hardly a demanding job. Come on Thomsosn's get these people working a bit harder !!! They also had 2 days off during the 7 days we were there.
Alli in all, an excellent hotel and would go back again.
If you have already booked or about to book you won't be disappointed.

I had emailed the hotel a week before our travel to ask for a nice room over looking the main pool. They kindly gave us room 325 a very large room with a large balcony and even larger terrace above.
The rooms are spotless, well maintained nicely decorated. The bedroom has the TV in it so that Mum and Dad can retire to bed without the kids being disturbed in the lounge on the bed settee.
The wardrobes are large but could do with a few shelves in them.
The preconditioning is very welcome and works very well.
The kitchenette is adequate as who wants to be cooking more than a light breakfast on their hols? It is quite well equipped except we didn't have a tea towel but didn't think to ask for one, we just let them air dry.
The complex itself is spotless too, the pool is cleaned each day and the tiles around it disinfected daily. Even the paths around the complex are disinfected! The cleaners are at it all day without disturbing guests at all.
Now to the best bits...The entertainment!
Fantastic!! Super Family Fun!! A great BIG Thanks to Emily, who is sunshine it' self and will do anything to make your stay a trouble free one. Then there's Chris he leads most of the adult and kids games in the pool. He's a great laugh, makes the games such fun but cheats, cheats, cheats!! All tongue in cheek though. When his team are about to score the goal widens by 10ft! LOL
Joff is fun and caring, he is fantastic with the kids and particularly made a fuss of Archie, who really loved to him.
The Kids clubs reps are also fab, and go out of their way to get to know the kids personally. My two loved the chocolate parties and the film show best.
The entertainment at night is really great fun for all ages. You have the opportunity to win a ' One size fits nobody' Super Family T-shirt.
With all the entertainment you have the opportunity to take it or leave it, although Chris drenched me and my newspaper twice so I would join in, I did get him back!
The hotel also puts on a fashion show once or twice a week to sell beach wear. It is very annoying as all the pool fun stops while this is going on. My husband enjoyed watching the very toned slim women strutting their stuff, but I think they should have male models too for the ladies to enjoy.
Taxi's are easily arranged by the hotel, but beware as we were charged from 4 Euro's right up to 9 Euro's just to get into Los Chris. I found out from a couple on their way home that they were told to get in the taxi and state '4 Euro's to the driver and this was always accepted. I wish we had been told this. We spent a fortune.
Eating out: Try the Chinese on the front in Los Chris the one nearest Burger King called ' Fu Lin' eat as much as you want for 6.95. They only charged us 6.95 for three kids to eat.
Then there is El Cedro's near the La Siesta Hotel in Playa America. The food is fab, it's spotless, the menu is varied, the waiters are great with the kids. If you go for a breakfast it's 2.20 with thick crispy bacon and they bring you a paper.
To recap:If you've booked here you are going to be assured of a great fun filled memorable holiday.

The cleaners don't speak much English but still able to help as I lost my ring but they helped me find it!
The food wasn't the best but it was ok to eat (nice to go out aswell)they laid a big breakfast on from 8-10:30 they had the full English breakfast plus yogurts cereals fruit and lots more.
Bening on self catering it was good as we weren't tied down to have a set time for dinner which meant we could go when ever or even stay in are room and get a take away delivered to are door YES to our room!!!!
If you happen to do this you must have roys pizza yum!!! Proper american style pizza and the delivery men speak English!!!! (which is helpful).
Reception will happily arrange a taxi and they are there within 5mins. Make friends with chris and joff (joffalina ballerina) they are just a few of the entertainment at the villa mandi excellant reps show!!
If you happen to play any water game be sure to beat the reps espically chris and joff they cheat !!!!! Chris is very cheeky me and my mum were layin on the sum beds, mum was reading I was just looking around as you do Chris came up and said to my mum you better move the book you know the water is comming and soaked my mum he also got me he is excellant at getting everyone involed the kids love it and both Chris and Joff are excellant with the kids.
Antonio in reception speaks excellant English as he is English we got on very well with him we he would always have time to speak to us.

The Thomson Reps were all fantastic & made the finishing touches to the hotel. Would we go back ----definitely! The Kids Zone was excellent, the entertainment was really good, it made you want to take part in at least something.
The only downside to this holiday was having to come home!If you have picked this hotel you are on to a real winner, enjoy your holiday.

Villa Mandi was terrific. We were fortunate to have an upstairs apartment overlooking the pool with a spiral staircase to the rooftop which gave us magnificent views over the golfcourse to the front and the mountains to the rear.
The three pools were beautiful and our boys (aged 10 and 13) made full use of them during our stay. There were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas available and the hotel has a policy of not reserving sunbeds. Not everyone abided by this rule, however it wasn't a real problem most of the time.
The cleaning staff came around every day and we had our sheets and towels changed on a regular basis. Air conditioning was available in the living area and bedroom area and were seperately controlled.
There was no extra charge for this. Cooking facilities are limited but you do have a fridge, two ring cooker, microwave, toaster, saucepan and frying pan. There was a kettle but it wasn't electric and I would recommend taking a travel kettle with you.
The superfamily reps did a great job but they weren't pushy either. You joined in if you wanted too and were left alone if you didn't want to. There is a club there with nightly entertainment which was useful on the nights we chose to stay around the Villa.
There is a safe in the apartment for valuables which cost us about 30 euros for two weeks but was great for safeguarding passports and other valuables. If you intend to self cater I would recommend going to one of the larger supermarkets at the beginning of your stay and bring your shopping back in a taxi.
The villa supermarket is expensive but convenient for things like water, milk and bread. (You need bottled water to drink as the tap water is not drinkable). We ate at the restaurant on site twice and it was OK and the snack bar did reasonably priced meals.
Villa Mandi has set the standard for our holidays of the future. I just wish I could pick it up and take it with me on our next holiday destination.

The on-site Supermarket was very expensive, only use it if you have to.
Entertainment was very good for the children they loved the kids club.
The pool area was too small for the amount of people in the Hotel and there was not enough sun beds for everybody to have one so if you went out after 8.00am there would not be any left, they would all have towels on.
The food in the hotel was not very good we only ate there on 2 occasions.
We found that Villa Mandi was just a little too far out for us although Taxis were fairly reasonable between 5 - 8 euros, although this does amount to quite a lot over two weeks

We did not choose a half-board option and was thankful for such as people at the resort were not impressed. Plenty of nice restaraunts nearby.
The apartment was spacious. Towels were changed on a daily basis but felt the cleaning left a little to be desired.
The tiles surrounding the swimming pool were very slippery when wet and were very dangerous for the children. There were not enough sunbeds around the swimming pool and were being reserved from 6am.
The childrens reps were excellent but on a few occassion the kids club and drop in was cancelled due to staff meetings. Evening entertainment was patchy as there was very few shows during our 2 weeks stay.
Overall would reccommend the hotel resort and expect the superfamily element to improve as hotel is new to thomson. I would mention that there are a number of apartments that were broke into during our stay, and therefore would recommend use of the room safe.

The room was very clean and there was a basket in the bathroom where you put towels or bedding when you wanted them changing.
The kitchen area was small but was well equiped for our needs. There was table and chairs, an arm chair and sofa which doubled up as a single bed and another bed pulled out from under the sofa.
The room is based on 4 adults sharing but I dont think the beds in the living area are suitable for adults but were fine for our two children.
There were double doors to the bedroom which had large sliding wardrobes and the bathroom had a bath with shower.
Our balcony was the biggest we have ever had then a spiral staircase to a roof terrace with spectacular views but unfortunatly there were no seats up there.
The hotel is a bit out of the way and it sometimes felt a chore having to travel out everynight (especially when the kids had won a certificate and wanted to be back for the presentation)One night we got a take away, there are pizza, indians ect that deliver to your door.
All the hotel staff were very nice and everyone on reception spoke very good english. When we arrived even though it was midnight we were met by the reps who showed us to our room then introduced themselves to us the next day.
The kids club were very good, even my 10 year old (who does not do kids clubs) went a few times. Lots of activities round the pool, quizes, skittles, waterpolo etc with no pressure to join in.
The first nights entertainment was very good but after that just average. Joff and Chris did there best but a mens versus woman quiz on superstitions was very boring not what I call good family entertainment.
Pool areas were very clean, no rush for the sun beds when we were their but it was the last week of the school holidays. We had a great relaxing week and would love to go back sometime.
