All rooms face the pool or castle. Restaurants along the beach front are all very good and in the hotel if its just chips, burgers and pizza you want.
Whole cooked chicken from the skate park cafe was very nice to.

Ask for high floor, the view is fabulous.
Try La Tasca Andaluza restaurant; intimate, typically Spanish. Excellent menu of the day 8.50 euros; lots of choice, generous portions + complementary olives, bread and liqueur. Ying Ping also very good and reasonable.

Having been once before knew what Fuengirola was like.
Plenty to do during day and night. Beaches superb and litter free. Like visiting the local bars but a friend of mine has just taken over "the Bakewell Tart" in the marina area so that was the one I frequented most. Warm welcome assured.
Local railway is always on time and handy for visiting other areas of Costa del Sol. Looking forward to visiting Mijas and Gibralter next time.

The first few days, the sun was shining so obviously everything looked very nice - after that the rain just fell and fell - thought it would never stop.
We have been to this resort a few times before and we think it is farthest in Costa del Sol, but have never been in height of summer - don't know if we would like it then.

Beach is fab, very clean and cared for, we like going to the beach restuarants and using their sunbeds, you pay a bit extra but its a holiday and the facilities are good.
Don't bother to much about entertainment except for people watching at a cafe bar.

The town of Fuengirola is pleasant if you get away from the front, as it's very commercialised, it's ok if you want English bars and karaoke, but it's not till you get into the town a bit that I felt we were in a different country.
The streets with the orange trees growing each side and the children playing with the elderly relatives looking after them, all shouting in a wonderful colourful Spanish, and seeing some of the gorgeous houses in the middle of the massive apartment blocks, you see a glimpse of traditional Spanish living which is why I love Spain.
We went to Mijas, which I adore, it's the most traditional Spanish town you can probably find without going inland too far, but again I feel it's getting over commercialised, still a must see.
We went to a few places on the bus, there all within easy reach and definitely worth a visit, we also did the coach trip to Gibraltar. We booked it ourselves as it was cheaper than going through the hotel, that was amazing! We just walked straight through the town to the cable car station it was quite cheap for an amazing experience, definitely not for the faint hearted! Or those afraid of heights, I clung to a post waiting for the car down!
All in all the Costa del Sol is worth visiting, but get out the hotel and see everything. I was amazed by how many people choose to stay in the hotel bar most of the week.
Try the food and the tapas the Spanish really love it when you go in their bars, pointing gets you everywhere if you don’t know the lingo, but on the main strip of bars they all speak English so it's not that hard to get a really nice meal. Ask for the menu of the day in any restaurant, you get a lovely Spanish three course meal for under a tenner, cheaper even in some places.
The markets are worth a visit for souvenirs, there were markets in the big feria ground and on the harbour, just find out when they are on.
The strip of bars in the harbour do lovely English fry ups by the way.
The hotel warned us of pick pockets and lookey lookey men but it's just like keeping your wits about you at home.
Mind the scooters, there are hundreds of them! And mind the pedestrian crossings, we found they don’t stop for you!
It’s a beautiful part of Spain apart from all that, you will be sad to go home.

Fuengirola itself was very nice but as it was the middle of winter a lot of the shops and bars on the front were closed but if you walk 2 streets back most of the little spanish shops are open and they are very nice.
The beach was very nice we spent a few days down there with the kids.
All in all very nice indead.

Fuengirola is a busy resort. It seems to cater for all ages and for all tastes assuming that that sort of holiday attracts "that" sort of holiday maker (it would not, for example attract hill walkers).
The streets are generally clean, wide and airy but the older areas are narrow and "quaint" though there are very few of them. It is not widely known that General Franco landed at Fuengirola with his army and that the Spannish Civil War started there. It was but a small fishing village at the time but is it now a city and it is still growing.
And the beaches are kept clean.
There is much to occupy all ages from the very young to the - er, umm, quite old, really! This can vary from lying in a shaded push chair or making sand castles; to strolling along the prom to shopping in the many good shops for a wide variety of goods; sipping drinks in the bars and eating meals in the cafes and resturaunts; taking trips by boat or trundling along on the "toy" train; visiting the shows laid on by the council or at the local rep. theatre.
In the event of wet weather - and this is a probability in the winter when we visit Fuengirola - well apart from the places with big screen TV's showing almost every sporting event (for fellers only?) and competing to sell you the cheapest beers - there are covered shopping areas, churches and exhibitions seeking the attention of the visitor. There is also the comfort of your hotel, the library (is that what they call it?) and the swimming pool!
My wife and I pay little attention many of these things - we go to the bridge club, the theatre, the odd trip to Malaga (by train or bus) and sometimes to Gibraltar (by coach). There are other interesting places to visit if the fancy takes you, Mijas in the hills or Arroyo de la Miel in the foothills, the Aquapark and Tivolli World for the children.
We have been back to Fuengirola a number of times, each time it has, like Topsy, "growed". When we go again at the end of this year it will have "growed" a bit more and so also will its appeal.

Resort centre great for shopping. Plenty of nice bars /restaurants in centre and also in outskirts of resort.
Everything a bit 'tired' looking but possibly the fact that we went out of season and didn't see it at it's best - appalling weather throughout our weeks holiday - may have ' clouded' our opinion!

We visited the new Shopping Mall and nearby department store. The train station was a few metres away but as it was underground was inconspicous. The local market was held every Sunday and was right opposite the hotel - very convenient and excellent prices.
