Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Salou is a lovely place with lots to do. My stay has not put me of visiting again and it’s a great place for kids. Beaches are lovely and clean.

Salou is a lovely place providing you stick to the main streets. It's not wise to go wondering at night on your own. There is not much to do there for teenagers there's not much night life.

Salou is a very family orientated place, the beach is superb toiltets every 500 yards and play parks for kids every 100mts. Portaventura is a must.

Lots of places to eat out, lots of bars, lots of shops. Beach is very clean but busy, and is sandy. Sea is cold, as is to be expected. Some of the hotels in the resort were not so pleasant looking as the Dorada Palace so I would be careful if booking in Salou in future. Shop keepers are generally friendly and speak English but there are a few pushy street traders around. Drinks are a lot cheaper in town than in the hotel but then that's nothing strange. We saw hardly any litter anywhere.

Salou is a great place for a holiday, good food, good entertainment, plenty to do.
Very easy to get to Cambrils, Taragonna and Barcelona which is a fabulous city to visit.

Ok, I went in September which is not high season, but most places looked open. You have the big adventure park right on your doorstep which has rave reviews... so thats good. And, erm, you have, erm, actually, I dont know what you do if you dont either like walking or drinking all day. I had expected Salou to be lively, but the main beachfront is hotels with a lot of bars, cafes, and souveneir shops underneath them. No clubs, discos etc. They are all tucked up back streets I think. I expect if you are teens or early twenties you will find them, but do they shut at midnight along with everything else?
We went to The House of Illusion one evening and had a great time. Good family show, and very funny...but they are Brits which is why it is so good!
People from this area of Spain are not naturally friendly to tourists or foreigners. They do not have a nice way at all, and pleasantries are wasted on them. It takes all their time to say thank you when you are buying something from them, and if they have a friend behind the counter to talk to then you are a mere annoyance. I would urge you to seek out the few British owned bars and cafes and give them you business instead.
There are an army of cleaners on the streets every day. The place was spotless. The beach was well looked after and, again, spotless.
I wouldn't return to Salou willingly (maybe if I win a competition or something). There is just far too little to do, and anything over a week must be tedious. If you lie in the sun all day, and don't mind weak entertainment at night then this would be an ideal holiday. But if you like to get about during the day then walking is about your lot.
Heres a question? What happened to the real Salou, was it buried beneath a truckload of hotels?

We were halfway between Salou and Cambrils. But we were very close to the beach which was excellent and clean. There wasnt much happening in Salou at this time of the year. A few good music bars, loads of souvenier and leather shops. Drink prices varied quite a lot local beer was cheap.
Plenty of taxis anytime of day or night about 10.50 Euros. Buses run regularly throughout the day to both Cambrils and
Salou. We had brilliant weather for the week we were there.
