Not a 4star and dated, and some staff members rude , we book this hotel on its ratings , but it about a 3star

Request a room that is facing away from the pool area if you want quiet at night. The rooms facing out have great views and are also very quiet at night even though there is live entertainment going on.

They have water stations dotted around the hotel, which is a great idea. You buy a recyclable bottle for €4 and you can fill it as many times as you like! Saves on buying lots of plastic bottles from supermarkets etc. Eco Friendly ?

Pool view rooms are good, if you want to watch the entertainment from your room. The entertainment is over by 11pm so no problem with noise, unless you go to bed early. Calypso 1 is the block with the restaurant, bars, etc. so I thought it the best choice

Nice beach with shallow water excellent for young children.
Nice long promenade for evening strolls. Plenty of bars, cafes & shops.
Salou is definitely a resort I would go back to.

It was so good. It had so many pubs and we saw dolphins.
There was a great water park and all the people were so friendly.

La Pineda is lovely. It has a clean, well kept row of shops, bars and restaurants, and a lovely beach. There is an excellent water theme park "Aquapolis" which cost 48 Euros for 3 of us, including a dolphin and sea lion show. Great value in an excellent theme park which has a fantastic array of rides for young and old. A 30 minute bus ride away is Port Aventura which is a large theme park built by Universal Studios. Loads of rides, short queues (30 mins), great shows and you don't get ripped off for food and drink, unlike the UK. Some of the bars have vouchers where for 3 Budweiser bottle tops you can claim a free voucher for one person. It's a great, if not long, day.
On the return, the bus service did not operate early enough to get us to Reus Airport, so we booked a taxi through the hotel (26 Euros) which got us there in 15 minutes. Ryanair are very strict on the weight limit, we were okay but others were not. The flight time was 30 minutes faster than stated, and although it's a bit of a cattle market, I had no problem with Ryanair.
Generally I prefer to visit different resorts, but if I booked late, and had limited options I would definitely go back for a lovely family atmosphere. Though I would try and book the hotel direct, then arrange my own flights as I would expect it to be cheaper than booking through a travel agent.

Salou is basically a reasonable resort but with very little character. The beach is great and kept very clean - but gets so crowded that you are stepping over people to find a space. The pedalos are a nuisance and you need to keep your eye on them to ensure you don't get hit.
The shops are a mixture of 'sports' shops (selling rip off football shirts etc), plastic tacky shops and restaurants. If there was any authentic Spain in this resort we failed to find it in 14 days. Walking along the promenade on the front was an experience, a bit like London on a sale day...packed!
The buses were quite regular and about 1 euro each to get up to Port Aventura - takes about 15 minutes depending on traffic.
Taxi cost about 5 euros to get to Port Aventura - about 5 minutes.
Road Train cost about 2 euros each to get to Port Aventura and took about an hour!
Walking is free but takes about half an hour - not to be attempted in the searing heat without adequete water supplies! Also, there is so much walking to do once you are actually at the park that you really could do without walking to get there.
Port Aventura is a must, especially if you have children. There is plenty to do and see and it is beautiful at night. The queues did die down towards the end of the evenings when we were there, especially when the fireworks were on. Good deals on 14 day tickets can be found on Keith Prowse website.
Costa Caribe was a good day out, there are lockers and you can hire rings for the rides. The food was a bit hit and miss, you had to queue in different food huts if you wanted various meals (ie hamburgers and pizza)which was a bit of a pain.
We went on the Jeep Safari whilst we were in Salou and this turned out to be one of the best days out we had. It is quite expensive, but you go up into the mountains and see a lovely old village with only 22 inhabitants, and then to a reservoir for a swim. The day is from 8 - 6 and you stop for lunch. You go offroading, and get very dusty! My kids loved it (11 and 14)and my husband got to drive the jeep most of the day! If you do decide to take this trip, make sure you buy water guns and have them loaded and ready, and hidden from sight until the organisers start squirting you - and then give them hell!!!!
We decided to hire a car for 3 days whilst we were there, and did day trips to Barcelona and Monserrat, both of which are worth a day out to.

The resort of El Pineda was nice, good beach and lively at night - everything is on one road, no picturesque areas nearby. We visited the Water Park that is just round the corner from our hotel and that was a good day out.
All in all a good holiday, the only thing that would put me off visiting that hotel again was the hotel food!
